Income thread?

I'm catching up to you, guy with 155k
>>
come on wagies, am i the only one paid monthly?
>>
Anon, i'll be your personal butler for 1k a week
>>
You going to OTAKON BRAH?
>>
>>37335043
Yes. I get paid every two weeks
>>
>>37334028
I just have this feeling that this is before tax.
Do you go for the standard tax deduction or roll your own? Does your employer offer a 401k?
>>
the net is way lower than gross because of 401k etc
>>
>>37335082
Same here. People who get paid monthly are niggerfaggots.
>>
>>37335211
you're correct that it is. i'm a business owner though so things are a little more complicated.
>>37335396
401k is a scam. the tax rate is going to be horrible in the future thanks to socialism. stop putting your money in a prison and just pay out taxes now.
>>

How'd you learn to do all the paperwork to set up a business? What books or guides did you use?
>>
>>37335452
no way, i need everything possible to cut my tax rate

anyways you can incorporate and roll over your 401k into an investment in your own business later

Suppose someone was working in a state with high income tax, like California or Massachusetts. They throw their money into a 401k and when they retire, they move to a state with no state income tax like Nevada or Florida and minimize the amount of money they live on from year to year. Wouldn't it be better to take advantage of the tax deferral?
>>
>>37335644
i didn't use anything, i'm still learning. i have to meet with an accountant and we'll hopefully go over ways to cut my taxes further.

i don't have employees or anything complicated.

>>37335648
yeah but you eventually pay taxes on it... i don't know they sound so shady and shitty when you actually get into all the fees and bullshit.

i don't know anything about that. sounds interesting, i'll look into it.

I do work in California actually :/
I'm maxing my 401k now, and then I plan to mega backdoor roth and take sepp when i (hopefully) retire early
>>
>tfw have like $1200

What am I supposed to do?
>>
>>37335763
well, i'm using my 401k to invest in REITs, since they're taxed horribly in your normal brokerage account. i can't foresee my own taxes getting worse than they are right now :(

here's some info about the incorporation thing:

i've owned commercial properties before (managed by others).

i'm acually holding SRET, so it is an etf as opposed to a manual basket of REITs.

i hold my indices in my normal brokerage account, since they're not as bad for taxes as holding reits or dividend funds there.

now jews are just outright trying to get rid of whites so there's no more competition.

they're pushing as a combined effort with the oil arabs to bleed out competition and whites. whites will fund welfare for these inferior races that have been flooding in(and are prime candidates for jew control since they have no real power), while cutting expenses for their own businesses at the very top. the inferior races will cause havok and breed in with whites, lowering IQ in the long run.

they don't have an off button when it comes to money - they will upset the balance of the world just for more wealth

when did /r9k/ become the hotspot for failed normies to brag about their sub-chad lifestyles?
>>
>>37334028

My income went way down after I retired. My taxable income comes only in the form of conversions from Roth IRA to traditional IRA (about $50,000 in conversions every year).

I get all my future income from stock market gains. Roughly speaking, if the S&P 500 goes up 1%, I make a paper gain of about $18,000 -- all of it tax deferred (yay for IRAs). I need to sell stock periodically (ideally, when the market is at its all-time high) to generate money for future living expenses.

I do keep about $400K out of the stock market safely in CDs, just in case the market decides to be shitty for a few years. That's enough CDs to last me about 10 years.

>Why CDs and not TIPS? Just peace of mind?

Obviously, with CDs I'm subjecting myself to inflation risk. But I do get higher yields with CDs than I do with TIPS. So I'm basically taking a gamble that the higher yield I get from CDs will earn me more after inflation that the lower-yield TIPS will. Like any bet, I might win or I might lose, depending on exactly how much inflation occurs over the next few years. In the end, the simplicity of CDs wins out for me.

I guess if I was shaking with fear about future inflation, then I might look at TIPS. But we've had something like 8 goddamn years of extremely low interest rates, and we STILL haven't seen much inflation yet -- contrary to the predictions of most of the so-called "experts". So inflation isn't something I currently lose any sleep over.

I have >100K in cash but it's split across a few banks and reserved for my business. Business owners typically always have lots of cash. I haven't bought a stock in 5+ years. The liquidity of cash is more valuable. I always try to have 20-40K in cash for operations, but I haven't seen much opportunities recently hence the large cash pile.

Most profitable companies are holding tons of cash right now. Most of the big tech companies and even Berskhire Hathaway are holding a shitton of cash right now. Everything is expensive, gotta stay patient.

My net worth is 3 million. I own my own property which I live in and also rent out. I have 2 other female house mates.

I use to work 60+ hours per week in back office finance. They worked me like a slave and I was underpaid in comparison to my peers. I saved everything that I earned. I've since moved on to an easy non profit job.

this is the only valuable response in this thread. anyone that has money in a money market in this climate and not in an index is a fool. the market has been insane recently and you are burning whatever holdings you have by placing them in cash.

NEVER EVER EVER TRUST MONEY MANAGERS. PUT YOUR MONEY IN AN INDEX FUND AND WATCH IT GROW WHILE TELLING EVERYONE ELSE TO GO FUCK THEMSELVES.

really?
>>
>>37341026
Not him, but yes the vanguard meme, really. I am no stock expert and so are 99% of the people on /biz/ you're better off just tracking the market instead of wasting time trying to beat it.
>>
>>37341047
okay. why are money managers bad? would they be okay for a total noob and then branch off from them?
>>
>>37341112
The fees my dude. And that the money manager might end up losing more money than the market itself.
>>
>>37341026
yes, the vanguard index meme. I'm not an investing expert and like this guy said >>37341047 neither are 99.9% of us. I have a play fund that I also actively manage but I trust the majority of my assets to be managed by index funds. It has worked beautifully for me and yes there are some trades that I have done on my play fund that I wish I did on my main but I have no real complaints. Don't allow money managers (shit mutual funds with a high exp ratio) to FUCK YOU OVER. We all deserve better.

I truly with all my heart despise you rich pieces of garbage that browse/post here. You will never know what it's like to go days without eating because all your money goes to rent and other dues. You will never know what living in a shithole one bedroom apartment in a dangerous area is like. No money for a trade school/uni so you're left with a minimum wage job. I don't get why you post here of all places. Your lives are so much better than any robot's.
>>
>>37341154
I know but that 3 million net worth I have represents me working 60+ hours per week for almost 7 years. I can't risk something like that to pursue new investments. I have a play fund that I manage and I invested a small amount in bitcoin but holy fuck I wish i had invested more. It remains one of my biggest mistakes
>>

how much money did you make? as in, actual money not crypto

>>
>>37341209

Yeah thats 100% true, I only tossed in some play money at the time (less than 5k maple syrup bucks) but it's grown to an amount that is no longer trivial.

I do agree that the index meme is really the best option if you have actual legit wealth you want to preserve/grow.

>>37341222

I sold 7 coins on the runup starting at 1,500 for an average sale price of 2k USD/coin. I've still got ~24 coins worth approximately 51k

I have just under 40k in networth mostly cash in a money market. I agree that it is slowly being eaten by inflation, but i dont feel like it is enough to invest in anything yet; i feel i need to double that before getting an index fund. I think something big could happen soon and that i shoulf keep lots of cash out of the market, readily accessible. Thoughts?

timing the market is a fools errand.

If you will not need the cash for a long period of time, it is most wise to toss into a diversified mix of low-fee index funds including a US and international total market fund. If you're young, perhaps overweight in small and medium caps vs large cap s&p500 equities.
>>
>>37341324
don't think like that bro. 10k is more than enough to enter an index fund

your 40k would be like 44k YTD if you had entered in jan

Salary govt worker, currently making 65 and will be at 90 in five years based on my contract. Really premo healthcare and pension and match.

Working out deal to buy my former employer's company for the cost of the assets. Brings in 200/yr for three months of work (summer only), so next year I will have an assload more money and still keep my day job.

White 22. I continue to make my life shittier through hedonism and constant apathy. Every time I try and rally and pull myself together, something else pops in to bash that urge down.

Honestly, I think my deepest subconcious wants to see how shit my life can get before I apply my neck to the railroad tracks.

For perspective, I'm not a deadbeat father. I pay support and am actively a parent.

Never really saw purpose or worth in what everyone told me the big goals in life were, so I always kind of just fucked around. Had a lot of sex in high school, lived in a basement and played video games to pass the time.

Graduated having managed to be stupid enough to impregnate two different girls, throw myself into alcoholism for years.

Went to jail for a bit for something I don't even recall doing. I managed to ingest an ungodly amount of everclear that night, and woke up around the afternoon the next morning handcuffed to a hospital bed. Served the time, wasn't so bad. Wouldn't recommend, of course.
I'll stop there I guess. It's all certainly more complex than that, and I'm leaving things out, but that's the watered down version.

Nothing was thrust upon me. I had every opportunity to do whatever I wanted in life, but I just knew that none of it would satisfy me, as stupid as it may sound.

See a lot of rooting for following index. Aren't those funds riddled with management fees just like most others?

No one got any good stock picks or something else? Maybe a share in a wind turbine or some other generator?

I've threw my savings into Visa a year ago or so, it's been going pretty good.
