start with just the bar it's like 45lbs and work on perfecting your form then add weight. A good form prevents most injuries until you hit heavy heavy weight.

usually the racks are near a mirror for a reason. While you lift you look. Check out stronglifts 5x5 it has detailed photos, descriptions and videos to show you proper form that you just copy.

Gym rats sit in front of the mirrors to gawk at themselves; it's considered rude to hog the mirror just to look at your t-rex arm curls.

That's what I hate about the SS cult. They're so insistent on you teaching yourself that if you were to suggest forking over 50 bucks to get actual, real-time advice from professionals, they'd flip out. Would you think you could learn to drive by only reading the manual?

Being retarded really doesn't make SS a bad source you know
You can listen to some "trainer" (who probably learned his lifts from someone who learned his lifts from SS anyway kek) without any actual knowledge, or you can get actual knowledge by reading a book you know
Hell, if you aren't convinced, just watch some pwoerlifters and see how much what Ripple says is parallel to those guys
You aren't going to say powerlifters have bad form will you?

I never said it wasn't healthy, it's certainly healthier than sitting on your ass. But using it as a main reason to lift is just stupid, because there are so many other things you can do that require much less efford and time.
we all know you're doing it because you're just a shallow materialistic normie
>>
>>36921558
I get where you're coming from. Fat powerlifters with lifting injuries are not healthy. Ballerinas would be considered healthy by the majority even though they probably don't lift.

But refusing to build muscles at all, whether through bodyweight, machine, dumbbell or barbell training, is not smart either. Why completely give it up?

Lower back?

If you had a sedentary life before you started lifting, your hamstrings are tight and you never work on your core, you probably (I'd bet money on it) have anterior pelvic tilt.

Fix that before DL, doesn't take too long.

By definition, it isn't. You stupid, stupid little cunt. Google the term "resistance training" and realize just how fucking stupid you actually are.
>>
>>36921983
http://www.emedicinehealth.com/strength_training/article_em.htm
>Resistance training is any exercise that causes the muscles to contract against an external resistance with the expectation of increases in strength, tone, mass, and/or endurance. The external resistance can be dumbbells, rubber exercise tubing, your own body weight, bricks, bottles of water, or any other object that causes the muscles to contract.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strength_training#Methods_and_equipment
>>
>>36922208
Resistance training is a form of exercise that improves muscular strength and endurance. During a resistance training workout, you move your limbs against resistance provided by your body weight, gravity, bands, weighted bars or dumbbells. Some exercise machines can also be used for resistance training.

Also known as: strength training, weight lifting
>>
>>36922138
>>36921948
Try putting effort and volume in to your workout instead of jerking off for an hour on SS.

Do you actually think doing 3 fucking exercises 3 days a week is going to get you good results?
>>
>>36922208
I don't know what else to tell you, bodyweight training isn't resistance training.

Crack on and do as many unloaded squats as you want though.
>>
>>36922265
Not him but what if I'm doing like 3 exercises every day? Is that good enough?
>>
>>36921111
>Ask someone to fucking help you jesus christ
What board do you think you're on, faggot?
>>
>>36922265
I'm doing 6 exercises 3 days a week plus cardio.

I was going up 5-10 lbs every week on every lift until straining got me a hemorrhoid so I had to fall back a little bit but it was still exciting progress. The only thing is that even though I get noticeable strength and even muscle mass showing, my body never looks "good" or not ugly.
>>
>>36922299
Bodyweight training is resistance training. Do you think your muscles can tell the difference between a weighted bar or the weight of your body? The type of training is the same.
>>
>>36921527
99% of the time people lift they do it to look better, not be healthy per se.

Like what, 5x5/SS every day? No.

SS is a fucking powerlifting program. It's there for retards who need to track progression when they first begin lifting. Whether you do it 3 days a week or every day for the rest of your life, it lacks volume. You can still add weight weekly on other workouts.
>>36922385
>I'm doing 6 exercises 3 days week
That looks a lot better to me. It sounds like you're seeing good progress, so stick with it. Body fat is what makes the difference here obviously, so don't worry about "looking good" while you're seeing result. Hopefully your recovery goes well dude.
>>36922395
>>36922440
>there is no difference between lifting 100 lbs of body fat and 100 lbs of iron on a barbell
Are you stupid? The difference is the extra weight you're lifting.

You can sperg out over the definitions all you want, body-weight training is a fucking waste of time for getting big, except for maybe pull-ups.

This is exactly like the feathers vs stones joke. Body fat doesn't weigh less than plates. Doing body squats as a fat person is not any less conducive to muscle growth as lifting the same amount of extra weight on a bar.
