I think that promoting trans exposure, as an attempt to make trans people have better lives, will produce more trans people, and that that misery could outweigh culturally suppressing gender dysphoria as a pop medical phenomenon, at every level outside of the psychiatric one. Trans people would be treated the same way, but they would not be made into a front in the culture war and it would be broadly considered ideal to ban their discussion and dissemination when possible.
