The humor is good and it subverted a lot of boring tropes of isekai anime that has been out lately. Then there's the characters: Kazuma is a relateable character, and its nice to see him attempt to be an alpha in the new world he's in. Megumin is adorable and so chuuni it hurts, and we can kinda see ourselves in her depending on how much of a dork we are/were irl. Darkness is a character that serves to drive the plot along and provides excellent fanservice throughout, i mean, she's basically the perfect waifu for perverted degenerate robots such as ourselves. Aqua is a dumb bitch we can all enjoy laughing at when she fucks up, so theres that.

it's a good show to just relax and laugh at and then go on danbooru for lewds afterwards. It's not NGE, or Serial Experiments Lain, or Cowboy Bebop, but it's a fun show nonetheless. Maybe not everyones cup of tea but a show filled with good voiceacting, well-timed humor, and decent amounts of fanservice without being borderline hentai, it's a good watch. Especially considered that for once its not set in a fucking highschool.

It's from a +8000 page webcomic called Homestuck. Was popular 2011-2015. Later in its run it gained a severely autistic and screeching female/tumblrite/gay/sjw following because a lot of the characters were gay (most of them are aliens, its complicated) and boy was it a cringefest. Lots of good fan content (artwork, cosplays, even chans and boorus were made as well as a few fan games and even a really good chat messenger styled after one in the comic) but a massive amount of bad leftist political discourse and identity politics followed, as well as terrible con experiences. Conventions got overwhelmed with hordes of smelly fat tumblr girls covered in grey skinpaint, who would do absolutely obscene shit at anime cons and generally make a mess of the place.

Much like MLP:FiM, it was good fun early on and i actually made a few friends in highschool because of a mutual interest in it, but then after two massive hiatuses most of the cool fans left and the fandom went to shit.

I havent read it since i was in highschool, but i think if you have the time its worth reading. The early acts can get boring (unless you like witty puns and writing) but once you get into acts 3-4 shit gets fucking wild. It keeps building up a world with mysteries at the border and then it pulls the rug out from underneath you, like "hah, think you understand whats going on? GUESS AGAIN, SHITS EVEN MORE META AND WIERD AND LOOPING BACK ON ITSELF". Well, at least it does that for the first half. Last half is spent resolving all the conflicts, tying up loose ends, and going really fucking meta with its time travel / parallel timeline insanity. Ending is serviceable but a little rushed, and the author (Andrew Hussie) does pander to the sjw crowd a bit at the end.

The thing you have to know going into Homestuck is that it's a long fucking read, and it was written for years averaging 3 pages a day or so. There was "update culture", where fans would await a new update and jump to be the first one to theorize where the plots going, or what mystery could be explained, or simply what's going to happen next. It was wild, but because the comic was written as a rolling release like that, re-reading it reveals a lot of pacing issues. A lot. But, if you've got time on your hands, I'd say its enjoyable still. Especially if you like weird shit, because holy hell there's a lot of wierd shit in Homestuck. Betty Crocker corp at one point is taken over by an alien empress and melts the ice caps of a future alternate earth, and the only two people left on that version of earth are a teenage alcoholic and a weeaboo skateboarder/shitposter.

A good starter is Hussies previous comic, Problem Sleuth. Read Problem Sleuth and if you like it, read Homestuck. It's a lot shorter and less complicated.

God this makes me nostalgic, there was a joke in the homestuck fandom about saying "Let me tell you about Homestuck" and here i am, years later, telling someone about homestuck.

Not true. If your computer runs on GNU/Linux, and you browse through Tor and take correct precautions to prevent browser fingerprinting and data-mining, which I actually do, you can browse securely/privately/anonymously.

Also hiding the taskbar only means it disappears until you move your mouse to the bottom, so I only find it annoying that I cant see when a program does that thing were the taskbar icon flashes
