If you're lonely, why don't you go out and play some Magic The Gathering? It can be a fun and, most importantly, cheap way of spending a friday evening.

>But I don't have a deck!
Most places I see run drafts instead of constructed, so you're fine there.

>But I don't know how to play the game?
If you have literally never played MTG before, check out Magic Duels, a F2P magic game. Basically, all you need to know is the basics of the game. People are usually very helpful if you admit you're new.

>It's too expensive
To do a draft costs around 15-20 Canuckbucks and usually last at least three hours. Not to mention, if you do well, you can get prizes that pretty much pay for your draft. Or, you can open really good cards that you can sell for money.

>I don't know any place that plays magic

This. I've blown so much money and the card never get valuable enough to make profit.
Unless you've got a black lotus, my LCS was bought because somone pretty much traded the owner a legit black lotus for his entire shop.

Just started playing 2 weeks ago after not leaving my house for about 3 years.

Before i used to play Yugioh TCG but i couldn't speak to anyone and sorta acted like an awkward sperg where i went to play but im alot more comfortable here because my friend comes to play warhammer 40k and he is actually good at speaking to people so he makes the interactions easier.

Whoever said anything about constructed :)

EDH is the only way to play magic on a budget, things rarely get banned and there's no stictly better deck.
>>
>>35763046
How much does a decent/fun edh deck cost? Is it more than 15 dollars? If so, draft wins.
>>
>>35761670
I'm too dumb to really understand the synergy of these card games...

You play this one card and that activates this other card which creates 3 saprolings which you can sacrifice to the Solar Windigo which gives every land card +3 which you can sacrifice to initiate a cosmic rainboom but only if you have exactly equal forest and mountains...

I can't do it. There's too much to keep track of. You have to memorize every fucking card and memorize how they all interact with each other.

I can't do it.
>>
>>35763108
That sort of stuff only happens in EDH, which allows for basically every single card ever printed. If you do drafts, you really only have to know one or two sets. And, in draft, the most epic of card interactions is
"I play a spell to buff this creature"
"OK, in response I kill it"
"Fuck you."

Stuff like MtG, tabletop games, LARP and other games like that is pure cyborg material. It's great.

You're out in the real world, socializing with people, you might even meet a cute girl - but every single person there is on the spectrum in one way or another.

I never got into it. I was a little kid when it first first came out in the 1990s, my older brother was really into it though. I would just look at the cards that all looked like Metal album covers and thought they were pretty cool.

I actually have a bunch of his original cards stuffed away somewhere. I'll definitely get into it sooner or later.

Cause I play PTCG instead

1. cheaper decks
2. games tend to play faster if both players know wtf they're doing and aren't playing against a clock
3. WAYY less Jewish online component, F2P and you get tons of free packs. Even if you drop RL money on booster codes it's like $40 for a top tier deck online, while in MTGO you spend practically the same amount for paper or digital cards. If you play paper you get tons of 'free' codes from opening boosters/products since ALL PTCG products have online codes in them.
4. the people who play PTCG at my LGS are way less autistic and smelly than the magicfags funnily enough
5. Cards with lewd anime girls

>>35761717
hearthstone sucks ass
>>
>>35763836
I love PTCG, but I haven't seen anywhere that plays drafts. I think it would be really fun.

Also, Drafts > COnstructed.
>>
>>35763701
kek I thought about it. Even if they were worth anything I wouldn't sell them, It's better off keeping them as collectibles. It's mostly just like swamp and mountains terrain cards or whatever they're called.

Let me see what is actually in that box.
>>
>>35761670
I tried that but I switched to drugs because it's cheaper and I don't have to be around plebbits who are mean to me. Plus maybe one day I'll overdose and die.
>>
>>35763832

You can bring it but you won't need to if they're doing a booster draft because everyone is building their own deck for the tournament.
>>
>>35763855
People have been talking about it at pokebeach. I think it's a little harder in PTCG to make decks that are actually fun to play from drafted cards though. Every attempt I've seen so far has been basically Theme but with less shitmons and more EX cards.AKA not a lot of fun to play or to watch play out.

I think it'd have to basically be set up with cards packaged together, so you could draft a 'max efficiency' draw engine with Shaymin/Sycamores, ect. but in doing so you'd end up with a weaker win condition (like a set of some obscure, not so good megas) while the guy who goes for weaker draw cards can get better wincon cards.

I sorted through them, and it's 90% "land" cards, as you can see, swamps and mountains and all that. Stacked from left to right according to how many of each there are.

Also some of them have alternative drawings, or have a black border instead of the white ones. I'm not sure if that means they're from another series or more rare.

Swords to plowshares can be a good one but nothing like demonic tutor.

Google your cards, he has old cards from a while ago, he could have more spendy ones.

>I looked around and saw the people that I shared an interest with and I was repulsed.

I was like that with loads of things.

When I was in college, everyday I would walk past the radio room and the anime club and the tabletop club and all the other clubs and hear them laughing and being loud and see them having a good time and I was all like WOW WHAT A BUNCH OF LOSERS, I'M GOING TO EAT LUNCH BY MYSELF ON A BENCH OUTSIDE AND LISTEN TO SLIPKNOT BECAUSE I'M COOL.

I'm only now accepting my interests and hobbies, I only wish I had done it years and years sooner.

You gotta take a look in the mirror, not just at other people that share you interests.

magic was a big chunk of my life
I had this spergy senpai, that introduced me to magic and every time we met, we'd just play mtg for hours without a minute of offtopic conversation. Our parents would occasionally make jokes about that, and once we overheard them and this made us laugh at them
this feature, that mtg is asperger friendly, is a big plus, but not all nerds are robots and definitely no all robots are nerds

maybe he's in here right now? that would be an awkward meeting

Damn thanks for the thread OP, while looking for the old cards I also went through my old comic book collection, some of which go back to the 70s, and plenty of other childhood stuff like Pog slammers.
>>
Also since MTGO is shit and the DotP games get boring and repetitive after a while and cocktrice/xmage interface are the same shit as MTGO, anyone thought of playing MTG through tabletop simulator? Getting your own decks online or even drafting/sealed is pretty easy.
