When I was in Baltimore there was a random roundabout in the middle of a new development. The drivers seriously would approach it and slow down, obviously terrified at the idea of going around it. It gave me a good chuckle to watch. They are objectively superior to intersections. American roads are the most pedestrian unfriendly things i've seen in my life. No wonder everyone drives everywhere and is fat as hell.

It's only because Americans don't seem to understand basic concepts like lane merging that you don't have roundabouts and single lane roads.

Nobody likes roundabouts even in Europe since normies are retarded and instead of turning inside the outer lane they go straight invading the interior lane causing lots of accidents. Also sometimes they don't stop and hit another car.

Those road markings are confusing as fuck.

I'm English and never before have I seen road markings on the actual roundabout.

Only on the big roundabouts that are not actually roundabouts do you need markings. On a roundabout like the one in OP, those markings just make for a distraction.

Left lane for any exit left of 1 o'clock, right lane for everything right of 1 o'clock.

When in the left lane, stay on the outside of the roundabout, when in the right lane stay in the inside of the roundabout until you pass the last exit, then move to the outside.

easy peasy. no need for markings.

>alligned in a pattern similar to >>35202222
>then a bigass sterile mall with huge parking connected to houses by a dystopian highway, inaccesible by foot
>some depressing stripmalls, maybe a baseball field

I get that such a city structure is efficient and keeps the residental area quiet, but at the same time it seems like hell on earth. I prefer a cozy variety of shops, houses, parks put together somwhat compactly.

Can someone give me a way of viewing the american suburbs in better light?
