I think it depends on the sororities. There's one sorority in my college town that is pretty notorious for their sexual escapades, and it upsets the other sororities. They get upset because they walk out to words like "sorori-sluts" scrawled on the bus stop because of one sorority. It looks bad on the rest who are actually focused on academics. I wouldn't go about thinking every girl in a sorority is a slut because you may speak to one who is not, and they will be very upset that you assumed based on another chapter's behavior.

This is the clue I've gotten asking around because I was genuinely curious. I'm sure in some colleges they might all be sluts, but it varies from chapter to chapter.

i read an article that compared the activities of sorority/frat parties to barbaric rituals of indigenous tribes regarding violent conflict and sexual conquest, and i thought it was pretty accurate. they're conglomerates of young healthy people who band together to 'socialize' in hordes and then consummate the whole organization with parties where the fuck like rabbits. i've met girls who were otherwise extremely graceful and becoming who told stories about sleeping with frat guys like it was as natural as brushing your teeth.

There's more then 1% of chapters not participating in that activity. You likely just never meet them because they do not hold parties. It took me awhile to figure out so many chapters existed at my local college because the majority don't hold or attend parties.

I always associated sororities with say... the groups of girls dressed up as slutty Minnie Mouse at the football game for example or those that frequented a certain local bar.

Back in school I visited a couple sororities and they were always grosser than the frat houses. At least at the fraternities theres an assumption that company may come and therefore your room has to be passably clean.

The opposite happened here. The fraternity houses were so bad and gross that the college ruled fraternities were no longer allowed to have communal housing. There is still "fraternities", but they no longer have "frat houses", they are spread out in individual apartments with no rhyme or reason.

I understand the sororities are clean, but I don't think they want to lose their housing. They also live in a gigantic complex in which the hallways are maintained by the school so I guess they don't want to risk inspection since it could easily happen.

That's what I was trying to explain by saying the other girls would get upset by the graffiti on the bus stop. All the chapters live in one huge complex at my college. So, even if not all the chapters are involved in the party, the complex would appear like one big party epicenter because those throwing the parties live in the same proximity as those not throwing parties. Now, some schools you might just have all the chapters throwing parties, but that's often not so. You might also not have every sorority living in that particular row of houses.
