You awake to the sound of frantic barking and shattered windows. You bolt up. Light streams out from a hole where the window used to be. Your dog is still barking. A slime covered arm reaches through the window, a soft moaning follows.

You curse, jump out of the bed and:

You grab your trusty staff. The wood warps in your grip and a wooden mouth emerges from the oak.

"Nigga what the fuck? Can't yo' ass stay outta trouble fo' five fucking minutes?" says the staff.

You regret ever raiding that stupid mages citadel.

You point the staff at the window, where a slimy head now accompanies the slimy arm. "Of fucking course. Gotta bail you out AGAIN. Fucking pussy ass, bitch ass, weak ass NIGGA" says the staff, then it emits a bolt of lighting, melting the zombie and setting the entire wall on fire. You stare down at the staff.

Mages. Not even once.

The structural integrity of this "house" was already questionable. Now it could collapse at any moment and you need to get out.
"This place heatin' up bitch. We getting out o' what? Wood burns, in case your stupid ass fo'got" You have a tremendous urge to throw this staff into the fire, but knowing mages, it'll probably just explode and make everything worse.

You slam yourself against the door and it is smashed to pieces. Your dog sprints out into the cool air. You are about to follow him when you realize all of your belongings are still in the house. You don't have enough time to only grab one thing.

Will you get:
>A bag full of rations and a canteen of water
>A map of the surrounding area you were working on last night
>A Bottle of Teleportation Pills (suppositories)
>A canteen of really really, like ridiculously good, aged-to-perfection, wine.

The house collapses behind you and zombies emerge from the woods, attracted by the sound.
Unfortunately you don't have your map and this place looks a lot different in the moonlight.

You strap the staff to your back and make a beeline for the road. It doesn't take long before you've lost the zombies and gotten lost yourself. The moon is high in the sky and it is quite cold. But you have made it to the road. The road is sandwiched between two stretches of abandoned farmland. You can see some buildings, farmhouses, barns and the like, in the distance. The road extends into another forest, and beyond that, the Sundered Peaks.

You head off the road, toward the farms. The night wind picks up and chills you to your bone. You continue on. You find a barn. You enter the barn. It is dark. Shafts of light enter through the barn's high windows. There are bales of hay in neat stacks, but no cattle. You are shivering now.

You gather some of the hay and wield your staff. The oak again assumes a mouth-shape. "Can't a nigga sleep? Fuck man - every five fucking seconds with you."

You will it to ignite the hay. "Nigga are you stupid? You know I can't do shit when I'm thirsty. Gimme sum water bitch."

>>
>>75882
You take out your water canteen and reluctantly bring it to the mouth of the staff. The water dribbles down the wood and inside the mouth. It is quickly absorbed, by the staff.
"Good shit nigga, good shit. Aight, stand back." You stand up and point the staff at the pile of hay. A soft jet of flame erupts from the tip of the staff and gently ignites the hay.

Your dog bounds toward the fire, spinning around it several times before lying down next to your feet. The heat from your dog and the flames quell your shivering. You fall asleep on your dog.

Your dog is a:

You don't know what the staff is fully capable of. You just tell it to do something, and if it can do it, it does. It has refused to tell you of its capabilities, stating you aren't "a real nigga". But so far, it hasn't let you down.

Your Shiba Inu makes a good pillow and a better companion.

In the morning you rummage through the barn, finding little more than dessicated cattle droppings and more bales of hay. You also find a rusted pitchfork buried amid the bales.

You breakfast. But have no water. You ask Ebony if it can create ice. "Nigga you know I don't mess with dat black magic shit. Fuck nigga, why you always coming incorrect at real niggas? Asking silly questions and shit? And get me some mo' water bitch."

You could use some water yourself. You strap Ebony to your body and begin looking around the farm. Your dog is still sleeping, so you leave it in the barn. There are three buildings: the barn, a house and some chicken coops.

There is also a well between the house and the barn. You head for the well.

Strange. The bucket is full. You dunk Ebony into the bucket. The water disappears. "Whoo-wee. Damn nigga! Thas what I'm talkin' bout. Whoo!" You slowly lower the bucket back into the well. You hear a slow click behind you. You turn.

"Bup-bup-bup. Drop the staff. Nice and slow." You drop Ebony. "Good. Good."

A girl of 10 years stands before you. She reminds you of your daughter. Expect she isn't dead. Or a zombie. And she's holding a crossbow to your crotch.

She comes forward to grab the staff, straining to keep the crossbow pointed at you. She kneels for the staff.

You:
>Whistle for your dog

You release her bindings and give her your rations. Then you make your way to the farmhouse. She follows you.

The farmhouse has two floors. You make your way to the dining room. The girl follows you. She sits down at the table and begins eating. You join her. You eat slowly and she watches you eat.

You search the house. The girl grabs your hand and drags you upstairs. There is a neat pile of assorted stuff at the top of the stairs. You rifle through it while she watches. You find the following items:
674 silver pieces, Elk antlers, a pair of well-worn hide gloves, several rotten Giant teeth, a skinning knife,

"Is daddy dead?"

You:

"Daddy told me to stay here. But there's no more food. I think...I think daddy isn't coming back." She starts to cry again. You hear barking coming from below. You put the knife and antlers in your bag and put on the gloves. They fit well.

You go downstairs to meet your dog. The girl follows you. The dog sniffs and licks her hand. She stops crying. She plays with the dog and giggles. You daughter picked that dog.

But this girl is not your daughter.

Still, she wants to go with you, and you allow her. The rest of the house is empty, except for a wood stove which is filled with firewood.

I definitely am. The smaller number of posters allows for greater individual freedom. I'm think we should ask Ebony if he can project a map. Any objections?

ayy im back and hello new friend

and no objections also i think we should hunt

(also how well trained is doge?

i also think we need to take the trolls teeth( or giants whatever stange creature it is) b/c in most zombie things the smell you well if we smell like rot( even just a little bit) it may give us more time to get away/make us less likely to be found

While you are doing this, think about what caused this apocalypse.

I gotta know if we should be prepared for zombies or not.
>>
>>79848
The may be more than zombies though. We don't know what cause this. Some mage could have unleashed a full demon invasion, but your idea is still a fairly good one, so I agree.

>>
I think we should try to find a village, a small one, and raid a blacksmith or armorer.
>>
i want to know more about our staff of nigerism
>>
>>80028
After hunting and refilling our waterskin of course.
>>80046
That's what the raid question is about. We got him in a raid, so naturally the raid details should provide info about our friendly +1 Staff of Dindu.
>>
>>80028
There's a rusty pitchfork in the barn and we've got a crossbow as well as an OP magic staff.

We're good on weapons. Civilization is a bad idea in a zombie apocalypse, we'll get swarmed.

We need to secure some food and if possible find out what kind of zombies these are.

Do they rot? Can they hear? Can they see? How do they hunt? How fast are they? If they're the kind that can just sense humans, we shouldn't stay in one place, but since the little girl's been here for a while I don't think that's the case luckily.

How contagious is it? Should we be careful not to get their blood/fluids in our wounds, or do we only have to worry about bites? Is it humans only or do we have to worry about zombie animals?
>>
>>80080
or zombie giants trolls centars minotars ect
>>
>>80093
I'm more worried about zombie birds than zombie dragons.
>>
i wonder if staff can heal zombieism. if it can early or late stages
>>
>>80080
I don't want weapons. I want armor with some insulation so we don't freeze our ass off, also loli needs a more fitting weapon like a short sword or dagger.
>>
>>80080
We can leave loli and dog away from the town and do a quick run into it.
>>
>>80133
Good point, but we could hunt for those things. We have a skinning knife, and antlers or bones could make a good dagger.

Honestly it'd be better if we could get her another ranged weapon (slingshot, bow). She doesn't have the arm strength or the height to kill a zombie with a dagger.
>>
>>80106
undead plague from the sky would be scary but a undead giant or hell-hound would also be terrorfing
>>
>>80152
What we really need to know is how long it's been since outbreak.

If it's been a couple years the chances of us finding anything useful become slim.
>>
>>80162
You can run from an undead dragon or undead hellhound. You cannot run from 20 undead songbirds. Well, you could stay inside until you starved.
>>
i still believe our most important thing is food
>>
>>80179
Yes, but we could engulf them with a huge fireball from our staff.
>>
>>80187
Yeah of course. I just hope we have an opportunity to learn these other things while we're getting food.
>>
>>80194
That is true, I'm not used to factoring in magic.
>>
>>80179
run from a hellhound would be nigh impossible those fuckers run fast
>>
>>68117
Grab your trust (magic) staff
>>
>>80206
They can't climb trees though.
>>
>>80205
hellhounds are demonic so fire would not work well (and if we are going by dnd rules a high magic resist anyways)
>>
>>80196
>>80207
>>80206
Wait Wait Wait. OP said this is a high fantasy/D&D setting. Zombies are constructs. This means there was a necromancer nearby.
Maybe this isn't a traditional apocalypse. This could just be a massive spell from a group of powerful cultists.
>>
>>80207
hey we are way further in >>80221
now we are stuck in a tree. just saying zombifed mythical creaters could be very dangerous
>>
>>80252

>>
>>80242
oh shit
this man's right
what if OP is rusing us and it's something completely different
god fucking damn I love /qst/
>>
>>80242
O.O
shit you may be right. we could just be one of he villagers as we wait for the PCs to come in and save us
>>
>>80266
We raided that citadel, right? Maybe some of the apprentices were tempted by demons or cultists. Fuck, We don't even know what our class is. We could be anything from a bard to a ranger.
So many questions.
>>
im hype for the marrow.
>>
>>80301
i think we may be just a lucky villager whos managed to survive untill now
>>
>>80332
We have too many valuable items to be a villager. Maybe an ex-hero in retirement?
>>
>>80345
This seems very likely, we did raid a citadel.
>>
>>80354
what if we were one of the apprentices? mabey thats how we got in and can use the staff.
>>
>>80376
We might have some more magical knowledge then. We might be able to craft some runes of protection our of the antlers or some wood.
>>
>>80376
I get the feeling that the staff keeps refusing to do things it can't do because we keep asking it for things that aren't within the laws of magic- which would imply that we don't know what the fuck we're doing. I doubt we're a mage.
>>
>>80427
We still might have read some spellbooks or books on magical constructs, after all most good adventurers know defense against mages.
>>
We've established that we're almost certainly not a mage, but we might have to potential to become one. I think after we get some food, fill our waterskin, and see if we can get a map, that we check a library for information on protective/anti-construct runes. What do you guys think?
>>
>>80490
Checking a library would involve travelling to a city.
>>
Damn, this is by far the most popular /qst/ I've run so far. Update imminent.

You are going to need food soon. You grab the crossbow. You head for the woods. The girl follows. The girl refuses to stay. You leave your dog to keep her company. She stays.

Sunlight comes down between the leaves, but it is dark. You find tracks. You follow them. An hour passes, then two. The tracks take you deeper into the forest. The tracks stop at a lake.

The water is clear. Your see your reflection on the water. You touch the faded scar on your cheek...

You hear a snap! You see a doe drinking from the lake. It has seen you. It is watching you. Its muscles tense.

"Nigga do I look like you? I ain't no punk ass NIGGA, that can't even kill bambi. Aiight nigga?"
You stare the staff. The doe runs away from the noise.
"Point me at bambi nigga. Psh, askin' 'bout 'can I kill it without destroying the meat'. Fool dun lost his fuckin' mind."
You point the staff at the doe. The doe has almost disappeared in the forest. A red beam shoots out from the staff. It wraps around the doe's neck. It lifts the doe up. The doe flies toward the lake. The doe struggles. The beam forces the doe below the water. A minute passes. Then five. The doe comes back up. Drowned. Wet. But meat fully intact.
"How's that nigga? Thas how real niggas roll, ya feel me? But you wouldn' no nothing about that. Pussy ass nigga."

You give Ebony a drink. You strap Ebony to your back. The doe is too heavy to carry. You spend hours skinning the doe. You have no skill in butchery. You destroy most of the meat and pelt. You clean the meat by the lake. You clean your hands and face and clothes by the lake. Blood pools and ripples out into the clear water. You wrap the meat in the scraps of pelt.

You scream at the top of your lungs. It's an animal shout, born of hate and rage.

The zombies notice you. They start shuffling toward the noise. You continue yelling. The zombies leave the farmhouse and chase you. You run to the barn. The zombies stupidly get caught in the rubble of the barn. You take this chance and run to the farmhouse.

You kick the door down. The girl screams. The dog barks and runs over to you, licking your hand. You scratch the dogs chin. The girl runs over and hugs your leg. You carry the girl in your arms.

She has your daughter's weight. Her eyes the color of oak trees -- your wife's eyes. She rests her head on your shoulder. She wraps her arms around your neck. Yes, her smell like the smell of autumn, like strawberries in spring.

But she is not your daughter.

You run to the back. The door swings open. The zombies crash through the front door of the farmhouse. You are arms are heavy and your legs like molten lead.

(Damn this was lucky.)

You run. The sun sets behind you and it is soon pitch black. The adrenaline leaves behind fatigue. Your knees buckle.

Your dog starts to bark. A point of light in the distance. You hear shouting. A rugged old man, stand in front of you. His right leg is missing, a wooden peg stands in its stead.

He grabs the girl from you but you hold her tight. Then he resigns her and helps you to your feet. He leads you to a cabin on the farm. You would not have seen in the dark. He lays you on a straw bed, to rest.

You are only half conscious, but you do not let go of the girl. You fall asleep.

You awake to the smell of smoke. You bolt up. Your muscles ache. The girl is not with you. You jump out of bed. The surroundings are unfamiliar. You are in a bedroom. A log cabin. The smell of smoke is coming from the outside. You can hear your dog and...yes, the girl too. You grab your staff, leaning by the bed. "Nigga is you finally up? Lazy mothafucka." You strap the staff to your back. You cannot find your bag, or the crossbow.

You head outside. The old man from last night is cooking the meat. The girl and your dog are playing in the field. The old man notices you.
"You hungry?"
You nod. Your stomach growls on cue. The old man chuckles and gestures toward a plate. You bring it to him. He gives you a slab of meat. You eat with relish.

He finishes cooking and hobbles to the table to join you. He peg leg thuds hollow in the grass.
"Hope you don't mind. The girl wanted somethin' to eat."
You don't mind. You thank the old man.
"No problem. No problem. Times like these, we gotta stick together. Right?"

Mages. Seriously, not even once. But, you know this story. Your daughter flashes before your eyes. You look at the girl playing with your dead daughter's dog.

The gods kill with kindness -- after cruelty.

"Western Elves were supposed to send help. So we sat tight. Waited.

That was last year. Most erry'uns dead or worse now. Either the curse spread past the Sundered Peaks onto the Elf lands, or they just ain't coming."
>very politely guide the conversation and figure out what happened to his leg
His face darkens.
"Sometimes you gotta do the ugly thing to survive. To save the people you care about. Even if it don't work out in the end. You gotta try."
And this you know, and know it deep. In your bones. In your blood. You nod.
>is there anyone else here.
"My wife and my son. Come on, I'll show ya."
He leads you to a spot behind the cabin. Two mounds. One large. The other small. Fresh flowers lie on the first, a teddy bear is tied to the other.

'In memoriam, Mary Herada, Beloved Wife, Beloved Mother' and 'In memoriam, Ewin Herada, He eyes shine from heaven, as they shined on Earth.'

You remember how the small graves are the hardest to dig. The old man wipes his tears. You pat his shoulder, father to father.

He invites you stay in his cabin as long as you like. He has a little food left which is willing to share with you. Some vegetables and herbs. You supply the meat.

You spend the rest of the day:

"Hmm. I'm not surprised to tell you the truth. Plenty more like her wanderin' around. Sometimes I can't tell if its better to be dead than walkin' with 'em."

You leave the old man to cook. You head out and explore the surrounding lands. You make a map of some landmarks.

You return just before nightfall. The old man serves some of the meat. He tells you he's salting the rest to make jerky.

You dine in comfort and peace, something you haven't done in a long time. After dinner you put the girl to bed. The old man offers you some chew. You were never a fan, but you try it anyway. It calms the nerves.

"So where you headin' next? Only safe place is probably past the Sundered Peaks, but that ain't a safe journey since the curse. And even then, the other side might not be safe.

'Course, You could always stay here. Plenty of room. I ain't much of a hunter anymore (he taps his peg leg) but, I'm a mean fisher. Whaddya say?"

It sounds tempting....

There is a thud at the door.
"Now who could that be?"
The old man gets up to go to the door. Something crashes through the window. You jump up. Its a rock. You hear high-pitched whooping. It's coming from the fields.
"What in tarnation is goin' on?"
There is another thud at the door, heaver this time.
"We know you're in there. Open the door and we'll do it quick." Whoops follow the voice.

You:
>Brandish your staff and head outside to fight
>Wake up the girl and your dog, grab your things, and hightail it, leaving the old man to fend for himself

Fuck yes, my first natural 20.

Anyway out of all that loot out there I think we should

>Short Sword (x3)
Take one for yourself and one for the loli, give the last to the old man. Try later to teach the loli how not to hurt herself with it. She'll grow into it.

>Short Bow (x2)
Take one for yourself and give one to the old man. The loli isn't big enough to be able to draw the shortbow for now so you should give her back the crossbow, since she can obviously use it.

>Orc-skin Tunics (x6)
These are probably too heavy to carry them all. Take one for yourself and the loli and give the rest to the old man.

>Steel Helm, Steel Gauntlets, Orc-Teeth Necklace
Keep all of these for yourself unless the loli wants the necklace, in which case she's a weird kid but let her have it.

>Mysterious Meat (x4)
Probably human meat. On one hand, we might be starving later, on the other hand, I'm pretty sure there are actual enzymes in human meat that promote insanity if ingested by humans. I'd burn it and not touch it otherwise.

>Waterskin
Give it to the loli, instruct her to keep it as full as possible at all times.

>27 gold pieces
Money is probably useless but if it doesn't weigh too much you should keep it.

>Quiver of Arrows
Keep it.

>Canteen of Blood
Empty it of blood and use it as a spare water container.

>Mysterious Balm (x2)
We have absolutely no idea what this does. Personally I wouldn't touch it if our lives depended on it until we can get it identified. Shit, dude, it could turn us into a frog.

Before we leave this old dude we need to get him to teach us how to properly skin a deer and how to salt meat/make jerky, otherwise we can only stock up on what meat to the extent that we can eat it before it rots. Also make sure we know how to fish.

Man, we need a horse.
>>
>>89813
I want to ask Ebony if he knows what the balm is. It's is most likely not harmful since the bandits(?) were carrying it.
>>
>>89881
Those bandits might not have known what it was either, and also they were cannibals so if it's something that makes you go insane they wouldn't really notice.
I agree though we should ask Ebony.

Were the mines of Moria not terrifying enough for you the first time you watched LotR?

Being stuck underground with a shitload of zombies would be absolutely terrifying and I'd be all for it if there weren't a high chance of losing our dog and/or loli.
>>
>>89813

Damn nigger, that's pretty damn accurate. Though personally I would advise against bulky armor since you're no tank and would rather be light on your feet. As for the orc skin tunics, we should at least ask if they're affiliated with some group or another. Don't want to get shot at in the first town we get to just because of how we look. Might want to wear them underneath the clothes if possible.
>>
>>90036

It's not clear yet if the zombies are something local or spread over the continent. The old man wasn't that sure either.
>>
>>90013
Have you not read any of the Forgotten Realms novels? Mythril Hall was badass. If the place is destroyed then the zombies should have gotten lost or cornered the dwarves at the entrance. If the latter then we might have the ability to get some of those sweet dwarven swords or axes.
>>
>>90076
Yeah we might want to lose the helm, it'll restrict our vision anyway. But we should keep the gauntlets in case we have to punch a zombie, also since 90% of all zombie bites somehow happen on arms.
>>
>>90096
Yeah, good point. If it's worldwide, the race most likely to survive intact is probably the dwarves.

Then again they'll have survived by closing themselves in the mountains and never ever letting anyone in, so how are we supposed to get in?
>>
>>90118
These shouldn't spread. They're magical constructs. They might be able to affect corpses, but shouldn't have any effect on the living aside from physical damage.
>>90131
Offer the information about the outside in exchange for shelter, food, and the ability to trade.
>>
>>90155

This. It was already confirmed it was a wizard's, well massive spell gone wrong so they shouldn't infect. Though I suggest we ask about that anyway. Can never be too sure with zombies.
>>
>>90155
In the beginning when we met the little girl, the MC said something about her being very alike, except she's not dead or a zombie. I'm thinking at some point his daughter was bitten.

Also, from what the old man said, it was an experiment from a mage gone wrong a long time ago. If they didn't spread, they wouldn't still be around, because the first batch would have rotted away by now.

I get that you're looking at it from DnD rules but I think OP is bending some of those to make it more zombie apocalypse.

>>90172
Yeah I wonder if the old man knows some of the answers to these questions: >>80080
If they just hunt by hearing that'd be really useful to know in case we need to sneak past a lot of them later.
>>
>>90188
These things might not even be zombies, they could be some form of abomination. They could be spirits possessing corpses who move to another corpse after the first dies.
>>
>All this speculah

(Nice nats)

"You're lying! You're lying! My son...my wife....He starts to push down on your windpipe. He has surprising strength for an old man. But you are stronger still.

You grab his torso and roll over, reversing positions. You pin his arms down. He begins to weep.
"Just end it! Do it! Ah gods! What use is there in living?"
You get up. The old man remains on the floor. He weeps into the wood. The girl has woken up in the noise. She runs downstairs. Your dog follows. You pet your dog. You lead the girl back upstairs and tuck her in. On a whim you kiss her forehead, as you used to do with your own daughter.

You return downstairs. The old man is sitting at the table, adjusting his leg.
"If you ain't a mage. Where'd you get that staff?"
You tell him the truth.
"Mages Citadel? What Mages Citadel? In the East? You mean the Tower of Stibrook?"
You nod.
"How'd you even get in there? Ain't it protected by wards or whatever it is you mages use? ...Right, right, you ain't a mage...I guess the wards fell away after the curse...mages. Hmph!"
He spits on the floor in disgust.
"Hope they're rotting in hell, the lot of 'em."
You nod and excuse yourself.

You go out to gather the loot. You tie one of the short-swords to your hip and sling the shortbow around your arm. You put on the steel helm and the steel gauntlets, the orc-teeth necklace, the orc-skin tunic. You leave the sack of meat. You take the waterskin for the girl and the sack of gold. and strap the quiver to your back. You empty the canteen of blood and take it. You leave the balms.

You return to the cabin.
"Are they still out there?"
You nod.
"So you didn't kill 'em. Why not? Rabid animals need to be put down."
And the old man picks up a kitchen knife.

You didn't give the "write your own" option this time so feel free to ignore this if those three were the only answers. Tell him to wait. You still need to interrogate them. If they're from a bigger faction you'll need to look deeper into it so they don't send assassins for you.

You partition your equipment. Some for the girl, and some for the old man. You take off your helmet; leave the crossbow and pelts for the girl.

The old man watches you.
"Look. You can't stay here. Magic - magic always leads to no good. Mage or no mage.

You can leave in the morning. Let the little'un sleep. But, you gotta leave. You can try following the road to the Sundered Peaks. Maybe the Elves are still breathing. Maybe not. I don't know. Or maybe, maybe you can visit Old Quendru, up north. But I can't have magic in this house."
You reluctantly assent.

You spend a few hours making some crude leatherworking tools from your antlers. The old man helps. You also fashion a bag from the tunics, for the girl.

Explore the rest of the farmland using your new map. We should rest before we set off to places unknown.
Also we might find a pack animal. I don't want the loli to be overburdened for longer than absolutely necessary, what if we have to run from zombies and she falls?

Tell her if we have to run somewhere she can drop the short sword and the pelts if necessary. Once we stop somewhere we should cut down that tunic, too.
>>
Rolled 3 (1d20)

>>91250
Dude shes 10. A short sword should be about the length of her arm. Can this change, or is she too malnourished? An Iron crossbow should not weigh much more than 4 or 5 pounds. Source: I own a working replica of both because i'm a faggot.
Also I wanted an equipment page, but this still helps.

Anyway enough of my nitpicking. Let's go the sundered peaks.

>two nat 20s in one day

Let me clarify that I want to explore the farms to find a safe place to sleep. In the morning we can find more food.
>>
>>91298
Oh shit, nice roll.
>>
>>91304
Yeah I also thought the short sword thing might be bullshit, I was gonna bring that up. 10 year olds are bigger than OPie seems to realize.
>>
>>91304
The problem is not weight but size. Also she's a grill and one recovering from malnourishment at that.

Equipment page is in the works, but I figured I should update first.
>>
>>91338
>Also she's a grill and one recovering from malnourishment at that.
She did live on a farm, though.

I humbly suggest that once she's less malnourished she should be able to carry at least the crossbow and short sword fine. It's the pelts that might weigh her down, depending on how big they are.
>>
>>91338
Surely, this being a high fantasy, she should be a pesant. Peasant = strong.
>>
>>91348
>>91360
Tell you what. She can carry the sword OR the crossbow. OR you carry the crossbow and she can carry a shortbow and quiver + shortsword.
>>
Rolled 12 (1d20)

>>91376
I didn't really intend for her to use the shortsword at first, I just wanted her to carry it in case she gets an opportunity to learn to use it later.

I really want her to have the Crossbow for now, she is too little for melee. I guess we'll have to carry the short sword.

Also I say again, 10 year olds probably don't have the arm strength to draw a shortbow.
>>
>>91348
I like this. Let's go with this. I recommend
a few more days for this, not weeks.
>>91376
Lets just say fuck the crossbow. We have a bow anyway.
>>
>>91385
We don't have a crank for the crossbow and she only has one bolt. If the can use the bow then she's even more fucked with the crossbow.
>>
>>91392
She should keep the crossbow because it's the only thing she can use effectively.

She's too little to be allowed within melee range and her arms aren't developed enough to use a shortbow yet.
>>
>>91396
>We don't have a crank for the crossbow
Isn't it the kind that can crank itself? Otherwise how did she load it to begin with? The loli has already proven herself capable of wielding the crossbow. She nearly took us out with it.

We can make more bolts.
>>
>>91348
In light of your double nats, we can go with this, if there are no objections. 1 week of square meals will cure malnourishment.
>>
>>91410
A crank is used to draw the crossbow back. If you look at Opie's pic you can see that the crossbow she has needs to be cranked by strength or with a hand crank. Medieval crossbows generally had a draw weight of around 300 lbs so since she's a 10yo I'd say she can't do shit with it.
>>
>>91426
You actually do have the crank for the crossbow.
>>
>>91424
Thiiiis.

>>91426
It's possible OPie doesn't know much about crossbows. OPie, what kind of crossbow is it? Can the loli crank it herself-

>>91444
Nice.

Loli with short sword/crossbow, then? If we have to run before she's lost her Malnourished status, she can drop the sword.
>>
>>91449
This seems good. We could also ask her to toss us the sword, in the dirt near us not at us.

I say drop the short sword alltogether and make her ranged. If she keeps the sword for whenever she can use it, she can do the same with the bow and that's lighter and can be fastened in a more comfortable manner.

We haven't done much ranged fighting. It's usually "Zombies are coming out of the woods for your boipussy and are 30 ft away".
>>
>>91595

Well combat won't only be necessary for zombies, like the bandits last night showed. With her size, for now she should learn how to aim the crossbow properly and later once she gets the hang of it she could move to a bow. Hell we can find something even better than the short bow further on, but anyway, keeping the loli away from battle but still having her be of some use would be nice. Specialize her in one thing. Also fuck, just realized we still don't know her name. We know the old man's name but still not hers. We should ask now before it's too late.
>>
>>91634
I want her name to be Loli. OP can we roll for her name?
>>

I'd rather not. OP named the old man, so he probably has a name for her. Let's keep everything in-universe.

"Halt paisang! 'Oo are ou? Uat ees your beezness eere?"
You explain yourself.
"Ay am called, Arnaut Ambant Perre Rostan Labertz of the Ordre du Templier. 'Oo may call me Sir Arnaut. Come, paisang. 'Oo look ready to faint, no? Oui. Come, come. 'Oo too mon petit jolie. Come."
He then walks off in a way which is at once inspiring and irritating. You follow him.

He leads you to the farmhouse. You can tell he has been living here a while. A horse is tied at the stables. He leads you to the dining room and takes out some china.
"There ees a bedroom upstairs. 'Oo may rest there paisang."
He then begins making tea, still in armor. He gestures for the girl to sit at the table.
"Go, go. Ay weel watch 'er. Az a man of de Order du Templier Ay am duty-bound to protect all eenfang. Do not 'ooree"

"Ah, 'oo arr awake paisang. Come, eat. There ees steel some tea."
He is still weaning his armor, helmet and all. It clanks and creaks as he moves around. You sit at the table and eat. There is bread (stale, but edible), butter, and tea. You eat your fill.
"Ah, 'oo play too well for an enfant." Dolores giggles. "Why don't 'oo rest while I talk with 'oor friend, hmm?" Dolores nods and heads upstairs.

That's actually a pretty good idea. The guy wants fame and glory so coming along will actually make more sense than to just bunker down in a farm by himself. Opie said that he'll continue the thread after it 404s.

The pack animal thing sounds great. We still need to find something protective other than armor. Since the citadel keeps being brought up I suggest we go there in search of a rune of protection or magically enchanted robes.
