Book 2: A Nightmare Comes

You are Belal: Chaos lord turned Emperor of the New Imperium

In these times you have managed to do more in a few years than the Imperium has in ten thousand. You with the help of the Old Ones created your very own primarchs.

After giving them the basics you sent them to hostile worlds so they may hone their skills to become the warriors and generals you will need in order to make the New Imperium great.

However, nothing is ever simple as when meeting with your son Sovjedos. He tells you that there are 'Angyls' on his planet, the Emperor himself tells you that these Angyls come from a being that he says was born when his body died.

The being's name? The Star Father.

Now with this revelation wracking your head around, what will you do?

You only have a question that needs to be answered right now "What in Slannesh's porn collection, Tzeentch's note book of plans, Nurgle's fridge of rotted food, Khorne's dumbells, and Malal's razor he uses to secretly hurt himself. Is the Star Father?"

"You remember when you absorbed or killed me, whatever? As it turns out it caused the release of the chaos god of order: The Star Child. During this it said the gods tried killing it but couldn't, and then it devoured the Astronomican and became the Star Father."

"So.....anti-chaos god?" You ask and the Emperor nods "Just like that" you groan to yourself, this day just keeps getting better and better! You pull yourself out of bed and Sovjedos helps you up some "Father. I also must ask, have you met up with any of my brothers yet?" "Yes I have son, they're currently on the Eastern Fringe to attack the Tau, they're just currently awaiting orders." Sovjedos sighs in relief "Good, I wouldn't want my brothers to face these Angyls. They may not be ready to face them"

You head over to the beds of your comrades, who are still down. Eliphas, Araghast, Kharn, Lucius, Typhus, Ahriman, and Huron: all sleeping like rocks on the floor.

So with a good idea of what in Slannesh's titties the Star Father is. What do you do now?

>>236393

Oh dear anon, in this new regime. This isn't heresy: worship of the Emperor is heresy
>>
>>236393
It's a good story though. Besides, The Emperor is helping Belal raise his children, and the New Imperium is currently more progressive and probably closer to the Emperor's ideals than it was before we took over. The Emperor is probably enjoying more freedoms stuck in our head than he was stuck in that chair.

In fact, several anons have theorised that this is all part of his master plan...
>>
>>236406
Belal has so far been a force of balance more than anything else. He follows Chaos undivided (including the self-sabotaging Malal) despite it not necessarily furthering any specific agenda.

True undivided Chaos should embrace Anti-Chaos as an inevitable part of its being.

>First we should try and find a way to communicate with the Star Father.

The Warp is a manifestation of the psychic and emotional aspects of the entire galaxy. In order to conquer and lead the whole galaxy, we must rule over all aspects of them, including the living manifestations of their thoughts as Chaos Gods and the Star Father.

This is one of the places where the Emperor fucked up. You cannot cut out an intrinsic part of what you aim to rule over. We must instead conquer and rule over the entire immaterial realm. This is how Belal, the True Emperor, will lead humanity under his New Imperium to untold glory!

Conquer and rule over EVERYTHING!

I think I just suggested that we should lead a crusade through the warp... While leading our normal, realspace crusade...

Forgot to roll though.
>>

Also, in case it wasn't clear, which it defitely wasn't due to my excess rambling, I suggest that our first step is to try and communicate with the Star Father... Also, offer him an invitation to the weekly basketball game of the gods that we host. I'm sure he'd love an opportunity to try to beat some of the Chaos Gods at bball. He won't beat us though, we're too damn good.
>>
>>236445
>>236451

You figure that if this Star Father is a chaos god: why not talk with him? "Son I'll be off to see what I can do about these Angyls. I might be able to reason with them" Sovejedos gives a moment of humming in thought before shrugging "Alright then, if you say so. I will be here to defend Sovjed-" "COMMRADE SOVJEDOS! THE ANGYLS ARE HERE!!" a man who rushed into the room says "What? How many are there?" "I don't know! They're just here!" "Alright then. Father, you better be able to talk woth these things" Sovjedos says picking up a hammer and sickle to use

You and your son head outside and see these.....Angyls. They're silver and golden humanoids, androgynous due to having nothing that can even be seen as male or female, the things don't even have faces: just blank slates where a face should be on their heads, you also notice the wings are bird like with the 'feathers' being the blank faces.

The Angyls appear to be using weapons made of pure light: spears, swords, axes, you name it. You drop down and start shooting down the Angyls with your storm bolter, the shots being down these things. "Sovjedos! You defend your people, I'm going to go find their leader!" you say looking to your son as he smashes one Angyl's head in and slicing the head off another, "Alright! Don't die!"

You begin running as fast as you can for this, but you didn't have to run very far: you see a nearly gigsntic humanoid in front of you. It looks like the Angyls, but there are some key differences between this thing and them: it has 8 wings spread out like it's trying to be intimidating, it also has eyes which are brown with pupils and whites, you also feel....weaker around this thing, like it's cut off some of your own power.

"I am The Star Father. The one born from the death of one called The Emperor, the God of Order. And who might you be creature?" it asks in a voice that sounds like millions speaking at once

"I am Belal: the True Emperor of mankind, the Soul-Slammer, Chosen of the Dark Gods, the Two-Point Scourge, and Destroyer of worlds. I come here on peaceful terms." you say slightly exhausted

1/2
>>
The Star Father's eyes slightly widen "You come on peaceful terms? What might you ask?" it asks folding it's wings back, "That we may work together-" "No. I am the one to bring order to the chaos that is the galaxy, there is no negotiation between you and me." it says angrily.

"Well, then I have one request. Leave this world, and never return." it simply scoffs at you, "What could you possibly-" you cut it off by slamming your fist right into it with DoomDunk in hand.

It's skin appears to be some what burning from it's touch, "If you don't. I will hunt you and all of your Angyls like prey, also! Come to the Chaos Gods' and I's weekly basketball game: alright?" The Star Father begrudgingly nods "Fine, I'll do as you ask."

You then watch as it dissapears along with rhe Angyls. You return back to Sovjengrad where your son walks to you "I guess you convinced whatever was controlling the Angyls to leave." "Yes, son. Now I have something to ask of you" "Of course" "Will you join me in a crusade? To build up the Imperium as it is suposed ro be?"

Sovjendos nods "I will follow you until I die." you smile at him and return to the room where you see everyone is awake. "Boss! You look like hell man! What happened to you?" Kharn asks you "Long story, let's get back to the Scourge."

Sovjendos takes you back to The Scourge once you contact The Makers to come to this frozen hell. "Goodbye father, I will join my brothers once the ships come." "Will do son, be careful" you hug it out before heading inside and flopping on the ships throne

You open a vox channel to contact Khorek, Endris, Cain and Charles. "Sons, I want you to do something else before attacking the Tau. Return to Terra for the time being" you say before closing the channel.

You orde Kalix to begin searching for your next son as you retire to your quarters: only to see 5 manifestations of the gods before you. "We have a.....mutual problem" Tzeentch says as the others nod

Well shit, what do you do?
>>
>>236469

>Suggest that as the new Emperor, and a champion of Chaos Undivided, we act as the leader of the Chaos forces against this new foe.
Take advantage of the conflict. Divide and conquer. We must use this new threat as an excuse to lead the forces of all Chaos undivided.

We must allow them to become more reliant on our undivided affiliation to allow us to guide them all, until we become their de facto leader. Eventually we hope to lead these forces to defeat the Starfather, and rule over all aspects of chaos and anti-chaos through the material and immaterial realm.

Alright then. For starters, how're we gonna deal with the star father? In the physical realm we can definitely defeat him, but it will only be a temporary defeat because he will be able to go back to the warp. In his realm it will be his Homefront, so we're gonna have some trouble dealing with them.

I do suggest finding a way to remove his link with the immaterium.

"I think I met our problem. The Star Father right?" you ask "Yeah, the asshole is basically stealing my job!" Malal says growling, and you hear a voice say something: it was Khorne's

"This isn't going to be good for any of us if he keeps running around ruining everything for us and you." He says calmly to your and the other god's absolute shock

"Well, maybe I could act as a leader of Chaos against this chucklefuck. I mean, you all never usually get along for various reasons. I serve Chaos Undivided: I am able to have any of your followers follow me so long as I keep them in line." you tell them to which they look to one another

"If you're going to be truly the leader of Chaos Undivided. You're going to have to speak with......him" Nurgle says begrudgingly "Who's him?"

You then see a new shape appear, this one is simply a swirling black and red void. "I am him" the thing says in a low, calm, almost dissonant voice "What.....are you? you ask the swirling black void

"I am The Nex. That which lies within the reaches of the warp beyond the Chaos Gods or the Star Father." it tells you

Also we should ask for more details of this Nex guy. We want to find out how these warp rules work, so that we can git gud, and exploit them.

Secondary thought: So yno how the Imperium had the Grey Knights, who specialised in hunting daemons? We should consider forging a smaller group of secret astartes specifically tasked with, and adept at, killing these angyls. I'm not saying we do that part right now, just that it's an idea that might pop into Belal's head.

You figure that you should inquire what this Nex is "So what are you anyway? A chaos god? Warp creature? What are you?" The Nex responds with a bit of amused laughter

"What I am is this: I am to the Chaos gods, what chaos gods are to their daemons. I am the god of the Warp, and the gods are just bits and pieces of me" it explains meticulously

The idea is a shock to you: The Nex must be something that is infinitely beyond your power. But onto the next two questions "What do I need to do in order to become Chaos Undivided's leader?" you ask it, "Only one simple thing: you must survive being lent my power." it says in a sinister tone with a voice that is much, much deeper than before.

You feel a little bit of fear dance in shivers across your back. Could you survive taking on it's power? Can it even be done?

If you're going to survive taking the Nex's power. You have to roll 60 or above

Since this is such a high roll, and is blessed by a god. Congradulations: you have just gained the powers of The Nex permenatly, you may dick around with them at your leisure

With a mix of luck, confidence, power, and a pat on the back by Tzeentch: you begin to take in the power of The Nex. There is one feeling that can be described taking it in.

Fantastic

You feel as if from the sheer excitement of it all the atoms that make you up will all split at once and cause a new Big Bang to occur, The blood in your veins will turn into steam, all sorts of things.

"You are more resilient than I thought! But know this Belal: even though I give my power to you, my body still lays within the warp and return me back to my full strength. This is a gift, use it well" The Nex says as the void enters your body

Once it is all over you see the gods in surprise, shock, and pride for you. "I guess we have our answer" Nurgle says "We do" Khorne says still quiet as the gods kneel before you

"Well, long live you huh? Become death, the fucker of your shit" the Emperor says dryly with a smile on his face "Still though Belal, you were lucky"

"Yeah, luck is about the half of it" you say dully and tired

Well: now that you have the powers of s being more powerful than the chaos gods. What do you want to do now?

In my understanding, the angyls are something similar to daemons of the god of order.

Some questions arise: Are the Grey Knights still active? Could they possibly be swayed to our side, as we are the new protector of mankind? As angyls are, like daemons, a representation of warp-related bullshit we could perhaps use Amenhotep`s natural aversion to related stuff to motivate him fighting against them (Though I am biased as the one who suggested Amenhotep). Perhaps his Legion would be a natural candidate to contribute to an anti-angyl force, which might or might not be organized in a way similar to the Deathwatch. I guess the The Sons of the Sun might have some archeotech psy-dampers lying around which micht also help against angyls as they make access to the warp more difficult.

cont. If we could demoralize the angyls long enough to come up with a warp build the wall thingamajing or search for relics that ward off warp entries on our most valuable planets.

we could keep them from atleast just curbstomping our worlds while we aren't nearby enough to act.
>>
>>242589
>>242590
Come to think of Heresy: As the true overlord of Grimdark we are, do we view a bit of Heresy necessarily as a bad thing? Heresy makes sure that there is still room for conflict, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It makes room for decay, betrayal, carnage, excess and interfighting. It needs some (limited) order to thrive and feed from though...
>>
>>242591
khornes and slaanesh influence takes care of that for us pretty well
>>
>>242586

The Grey Knights are not active anymore, you see the Star Father while taking the power of Astronomican: he turned those who were given power by the Emperor who are not the primarchs (ie: astropaths and the grey knights) into the angyls. The ones that you all encountered when meeting with Sovjedos are ones that were once astropaths.

tl:dr, Astropaths are lesser angyls, Grey Knights are greater angyls. Named grey knights are Angyl princes

The idea of Amenhotep being one of those fighting the angyls is intresting. Buuuut anyways

>>241994
>>242014

You decide to take a trip back to Terra in order to talk to your sons about their new task. One trip through the warp later you're back at Terra, and you notice more of the grey Custodes patroling the Imperial Palace.

As you make your way across the bridge the Custodes bow before you, whispering praises for you. When you reach the Eternity Gate, you see Axion speaking to Khorek while Endris and Charles are playing against one another in bball. Oh wait, you're suposed to play basketball with the Star Father some time later.

Your sons see you and wave coming to you as Axion walks past you silently. "Welcome back home father" Charles says spinning his basketball around in his hands "You said there was something you needed us to do?" "Yes, I can't be one to personally find all of your brothers like the Emperor did. There are problems occuring" you explain to which they nod, "We know, Sovjedos told us about these.....Angyls. They seem like a challenge." Khorek says a bir excited

"Yes. I need to work on a way to counter act them. So I ask that you find your brothers while I do so, if I finish quickly enough I may go see them myself." You say smiling to your sons "Understood father, we'll get going right now" Sovjedos says as he walks with his brothers to their ships. You see the names of them engraved into the hull of the ship:

Khorek's ship, The Unchallenged
Sovjedos ship, The Cold Fury
Charles ship, The Dunker
Endris ship, The Poltergheist
and finally Cain's ship, The First

You wave them off as they head out to find their brothers, you hope they don't get corrupted by the angyls. "So then Belal" the Emperor says "If you're going make a group to fight the angyls. What are you going to do for it?"

It's that time again! Make a chapter! Give them colors, a warcry, and a symbol

>>242586
I feel like we should keep our legions intact as they are, but I agree that Amonhotep is a natural candidate to be heavily involved in their design/formulation, perhaps with the geneticist, the tech guy, and one of the psykers, as well as Belal of course. All Primarchs should be included to some extent though, to ensure it doesn't become a pet chapter to one of them, but inevitably some will have more to offer.

I know that the Grey Knights are pretty much incorruptible, but it might be worth clarifying how they feel about these angyls. Logically they should support them as daemon killing beacons of order, but then they're not too fond of Senseis (also Star Father linked entities against Chaos), so I can imagine them arbitrarily murdering angyls too, so tolerating/enabling them could be useful.
>>
>>242632
The rolls aren't generally tied to specific outcomes, just a degree of success, with higher being better, and 95+ basically acting as a crit success. I think OP tends to pick the most popular suggestion, and decides the outcomes on the general rolls that people have made for it, with crit successes and failures unofficially taking priority. It's never been formalised, but it works well like this.

I think eeees should mirror and oppose the Grey Knights and Angyls. I propose:

>Name - The Order of the Void
>Colours - Metallic black (very dark silver kinda thing)

Still thinking of symbol and warcry. I saw shoulderplate anon in the last thread, so I'm happy to draw up whatever we decide on.
>>
Another option (perhaps I am brainstorming a bit too much) would be to just give more resources to the Officio Assassinorum, specifically to the Culexus Temple. As Angyls all were once psykers these dudes would probably rock hunting them. This is of course assuming that the Culexus Temple is still existing and under (new) Imperial control. Some new further questions arise. OP: Do we have the knowledge to create pariahs? Everyone: Would we even want to do that? As protector of mankind, what is our vision? This is a somewhat fundamental decision: do we want to adapt mankind to the galaxy or do we want to adapt the galaxy to mankind? Do we like mutations? Do we even like random mutations? Or do we take the other course and shield all warp influences off from humanity?

My suggestion would be to be as inconsequential as possible with these questions and start random small mutant programs on some worlds, while trying to shield others as good as possible while starting some smaller pariah clone programs on other worlds WHILE starting an Astartes counter-angyl force with watchstations on even other worlds. In my opinion, this would help the cause of chaos the most!
>>
>>242702
Well you put some thought behind your posts.
Also good points with the Culexus temple and the future of mankind. Personally i would just let all races co-exist and mutate freely as i think that adapting the universe to humans will just lead to a new downfall with humans becoming overly arrogant and lazy.
>>
>>242702
See, something I want to bring up. If we create the counter Angyls astartes, and then we finally are able to defeat them, what do we do to the legion then? Truth purpose has been served, and so we need to start making another task for them. I suggest making them act like the grey Knights. For now they are fighting Angyls, but later on we can have them fight against a different enemy. It all comes down to whom we send them once the star father is dead.
>>
>>242743
Very feasible, but we're a long way off defeating the angyls... Worst case scenario they're a group of elite astartes who are particularly adept at fighting warp denizens and psykers.
>>
>>242675

>Name - The Order of the Void
>Colours - Metallic black (very dark silver kinda thing)
>Symbol - Chaos symbol variant, made up of 8 swords taking the place of the arrows from the classic circle with 8 radiating arrows.
>Warcry - We are inevitable! Seeing as Chaos/entropy is literally inevitable..
>>
>>242702

The Culexus Temple is still around and under your control, but you have no idea on how to make pariahs. I like what you're getting at anon, using pariahs against beings that were once psykers is a good idea: but if you actually want to make pariahs then you'd have to talk to a Necron or C'Tan about it, and that idea is a little insane.

Anyways:

You return to the Scourge to enter the Black Library, and to your surprise: Cegorach is there "Hello there Belal, remember me?" the clown looking god asks, you can help but smile "Nice to see you again Cegorach. What're you doing here exactly?" "Oh you know, not much. Say have you heard about this 'Star Father' running around?"

"I have, I even met him. I'm actually going to play basketball with him later with the other chaos gods" you say to which Cegorach laughs "I'll be watching, you just have to find me. Still, he's not going to stop you know." "I know" "What're you going to do about it?" he asks with his constant smile seemingly larger

"I'm going to take a note out of the Emperor's book and make a special little group dedicated to fighting angyls. At least until the Star Father is gone" you say

"Well then, I wish you luck. But if you ever need help, I can provide: if you could do something in return for me" he says before vanishing, alright then.

You begin to tinker around with gene-seed to try and get something that just might work right against them. You remember the Culexus assassins, they could be a good start but you'd need to find a way to add in the pariah gene into the marines. And you know only one person who'd be able to do that

On second thought, the C'Tan sound comparably reliable and trustworthy, dont they?

Rolling for opening a vox channel to the nearest C’Tan and establishing peaceful terms or even sway he/she/it to our cause.

in the very probable case that this extreme vote does get voted against: I still vote against giving Fabius Bile the genetic codes of our Primarchs, he can have the ones of the older (lets call them "outdated") ones.

am i the only one that thinks this quest is a bit cracky
>>
>>247560
What do you mean by cracky?
>>
>>243202

You change your mind on Bile giving you knowledge on the pariah gene. You should go for the source!: the C'Tan, let's check your options

Nightbringer: creepy omnicidal dickhead who'll kill you the moment he sees you

The Deciever: professional trolling asshole rivaling Tzeentch and Cegorach

The Outsider: Utterly fucking insane

The Void Dragon: probably pissed about being stuck in Mars

This is a little problem of yours, which one should you talk too?

>>247560

Care to explain?

I vote void dragon. We bust the guy out, he probably would be willing to share a few things with us. The other option would be the outsider, but that is only the case if we can't bust out the dragon.
>>
>>249459
seconding this
>>
The deal might be:
Pariah gene and fealty against freedom and warp corruption
>>
Rolled 26 (1d100)

>>249459
I mean I don't know that feeling with a C'Tan is ever a good idea, but I guess if that's what we're doing I'll go with this guy.

You figure that the Void Dragon would be the best choice in order to get access to the pariah gene. And so you return to the Scourge "Where do you want to go?" Kalix asks you "To Mars" "Alright"

The ship starts up and makes it's short trip to Mars, since your rule Mars' buildings have become more chaos oriented: hereteks working with xenos tech and making new technology, daemonengines carrying equipment for use, and statues of you, Khorne, Tzeentch, Nurgle, Slannesh and Malal across the planet.

When you make planet fall you see Skoti approaching you, once you leave the ship Skoti laughs "Hey there Belal, what's going on right now?" He asks you patting your pauldron "Oh I came for something" "And that is?" you smile to him

"The Void Dragon"

Skoti's eyes widen and he starts sputtering "ARE YOU FUCKING SUICIDAL?!" He yells out at you in a mix of rage and shock "That idea is about as smart as asking Khorne if he's been fucking Slannesh!" "I can risk it" you tell him as you make your way down to the core of Mars

You see a massive black gate: the door to the Void Dragon. You push as hard as you can against this gate until the gate breaks and falls between you.

You then hear a mix of roaring and laughter, a head pops out from where once was the gate: a draconic head that is black, with green lines glowing across it with green eyes, horns protruding from the back of it's head, row after row of sharp teeth bared for you to see. You then see two smaller heads that look the same come beside it

"Were you the one who freed-" it pauses and gives what you could guess is a frown. "Oh. I see that you're something of the immaterium, what do you want from me?" It asks to which you smile

"Oh not much in honesty: I just wish to have knowledge of the pariah gene and your fealty. In exchange I grant you freedom, and you're not corrupted by the warp. Do we have a deal?" You ask the old god

It smiles again, one that shows a mix of happiness and one of killing intent: "Very well.....master" the Void Dragon says bowing it's heads

What now emperor?
>>
Wait wait! Warp corruption is necessary part of the deal!
>>
>>254832
I HIGHLY doubt we can corrupt the MOTHER EFFING VOID DRAGON, aka probably the most strongest C'tan in existance. Gonna vote against pissing him off.
>>
Also reminder that thread is gonna die soon, so were gonna need a new thread to work with.
>>
>>254994
Big E defeated him and locked him away when he was still really young. We have big E's power and that of the dark gods. It should be easy going.
>>
>>255349
That is beating it. Corrupting it? That is a different story. For now let's focus on making the anti angyl chapter.
>>
>>255842
I'm still shilling my "Order of the Void" idea from >>242846 even more relevant now that The Void Dragon is going to help us create them. What a coincidence.
>>
>>254997

I'll make a new thread tomorrow, for now. Figure out what you'll do

And a question for all anons, do you still enjoy the quest? Anyways it could be improved?
>>
>>256358
Still enjoying it OP. As a suggestion, I think punctuating or universe altering decisions with some world invading, and battles less crucial to the story might keep us from mental block.

It's a lot easier for people to add a quick contribution when the question is "how would you blow up the large Ork charging at you. It also allows for small, wacky ideas that end up deeply woven into the lore, like taking a basketball from the armoury way back when.

Also encouraging other anons to get drawing. Makes the thread more colourful.

>>255842
The forces of Chaos are us. If there is one single thing Chaos can do, it is corrupting. I don't think that an uncorrupted Void Dragon can really be considered part of our forces. We know he will betray us some day, at least a bit (remember: that is not a completely bad thing), but if he is corrupted he will probably not betray Chaos itself, meaning his betrayal will arguably be a lesser one. I suggest asking Khorne to bestow his benevolence upon the Void Dragon (they are both angry and hate psykers) and thoroughly corrupt him.
>>
>>256358
yee man, im liking it
also >>256415 has a good point, because going too fast through big battles puts us on a spot where we have to ponder where the hell to go next and so i am supporting >>257027
