You take a look at the spellbook.

"The helping hand spell was made by the human wizard Joostain Ruson in 2500, the year of blood. Like all spells made that year a blood sacrifice is capable of casting it, but the preferred method is of course the pentagram pictured below with sixty mana channeled into it. (A picture of a pentagram is shown) After casting the spell it will summon a single floating hand, that can be controlled at a distance of up to one mile.
