I strongly object to the way that "mentally ill" seems to be used on /b/ and /pol/, which is as a synonym for immoral. There isn't a single mental health professional on the planet who wouldn't strongly object to that inference. And gender dysphoria blurs the lines between biology and personality in the first place - if a difference in brain structures is responsible, then what's the difference between abnormal and individual in this case? Who is to say that it is not normal for some percentage of the male population to feel strongly feminine in identity? It's probably always been this way.

It's their mind, their body, and their life. As long as nobody else is harmed, we should respect who they are as individuals and not demand that their identity be changed to conform to our beliefs about normality.

brosky, the definition of normal literally means, the norm, the majority, what is most common. Most men are not feminine. Traps and feminine men are in the minority, thus, not the norm.


And I get that its their lives and their bodies, but at some point we have to protect people from themselves, at least I believe so, especially concerning conditions that result in mortality. And there is alot of evidence that states people with gender dysphoria are mentally ill. I mean, they suffer from things like depression and anxiety far more than someone without their condition. If that isn't mental illness, what is?

I could very easily make a good argument that it's the social pressure and stigma that causes the increased rates of associated mental problems, not the dysphoria. I see no reason to doubt that in an understanding, supportive culture it would be either much less traumatic or not traumatic at all - but in a society where people do everything from post videos on the internet of transsexuals getting curbstomped to pass civil-rights-era segregation laws shaming transsexuals over bathroom usage and implying that they're deviant pedophile sex addicts - well, then the depression and anxiety starts to make sense.

And what are people supposed to do about the body and mind they are born with, anyway? You think that absolute suppression in order to fit in with a conservative culture will be more healthy in the long run?

Why would you take hormones and get surgery to attempt to match your body to your brain (and only on an aesthetic level mind you, transexuals still dont have the opposite chromosomes or fully functioning sex organs of the opposite sex once they transition), than just trying to seek therapy and have your brain match the body you already have? In principle, I'm not against the creation of a new board for transgirl porn. Said that, I just think it won't fix a thing, and in the long run, it would be yet another slow niche board who people forget it exists.

Despite having /trash/, people post tons of furry porn on /b/, and subtle (or not so much) clopping and fetish threads on /mlp/.

Quest threads are still a thing on /tg/, disregarding /qst/ existence.

Funny enough, warhammer threads still appear on /m/ long after /tg/ have been around, and mecha threads are a thing on /a/. On the same vein, buyfag threads are really popular on /a/, ignoring /toy/ and /jp/ existence.

So what exactly would accomplish a /trp/ board? Not much, honestly. Some anons will keep spamming trap threads on /b/ just to annoy people, and similarly religious nutjobs would migrate to the new board to keep on their rantings (is kind of sad a person's life can be so centred on hate and persecution), and don't give me the excuse of the janitor deleting and banning these rants, we both know how good is the moderation team on 4chan.

Which is funny, because the only instance I remember a containment thread working properly is /mlp/, but that's a very, very specific and easily identifiable topic, so much I think a trained monkey could spot and delete /mlp/ threads as well as any of the janitors.

I'm a tranny and I go through periods of self hatred and depression. But it's so much better than it was when I was still repressing, I was easily twice as depressed not to mention the emotional disconnect I had from friends family and the world. I made many dangerous and stupid decisions and put myself in horrendous situations trying to straighten myself out.

I understand that from the outside looking in its hard to wrap your head around why anyone would do this to themselves and to make their quality of life that much more difficult but until brain transplants aren't science fiction it's the only real option to quieten the self hatred.

The disgust the world has for me pales in comparison to the disgust I had for myself.
