And I watch the best 40-50% of those that perk my interest
at least 75% I actually regret having watched, another 15% was "Okay" the remainder I enjoyed, which numerically translates to around 10-15 movies a year I enjoy.

I don't visit the theatre because you're likely going to see a shit film and you are paying to watch it before you know if it's shit or not.
I personally refuse to watch any trailers or spoilers etc, I only look at genre's to gauge the movie vs my mood if I want to watch.

It's why the film is so good. They aren't really "portrayed" at all. You see Germans on screen for about 2 seconds of runtime. They aren't killing babies or anything like that. They're just "the Enemy" from the perspective of the retreating British troops.

They play it too safe. The movies are utterly devoid of any spiritual, philosophical or thematic contemplation. The US and Britain have stagnated creatively, we've gone heavily back into modernism where in our movies things "happen" and have some shitty moral everyone already knows at the end of it. They try to impress us with the special effects and shallow plot twists, but we can all see these movies have no thought behind them. They're safe, formulaic garbage that just preaches to the already converted. They don't challenge or confront the viewer, or expose them to anything uncomfortable because they see us as brainless economic units rather than living breathing people.

Post-modernism or new sincerity really need to start being represented more in Western entertainment, because we're getting to level of stale derivative crap America had in the 80's with its hundreds of family sitcoms.

It's not just movies. I haven't had cable t.v in 6+ years. Whenever I'm at friends or family and they got the t.v going, it's brutal.

The shows all suck. Most are just blatant agenda pushing with terrible writing. All the commercials are horrible and go off every couple of minutes. No wonder everyone has the attention span of a gold fish. You can't even concentrate on a show for to long before something is pulling your attention away. People are willing pay money for this trash. I bet some anons are gonna read this and scratch their head to the thought of not having cable.
