looking more southern all the time
/AHSG/ threads are fucking cancer and need to die. Stop posting this fucking garbage please.
sorry anon... they are my favorite thread on all of 4chan... and are only relevant for about 2 months out of the year.
Landfall in Wilmington, Cat 5.
STOP MEMEING IRMA YOU SHITS I DON'T WANT TO DIE
This is OC made with Grib data... doesn't look good anons...
A 891 landfall would be the strongest ever.
I was fucking around yesterday hoping it would hit the bay, right where I live. I'm not into that idea anymore. I live in a 115 year old Victorian home on the Shore, don't think she can handle too many more storms like that.
Euro still has it turning back out to sea
The calm before the storm...
Do you feel it anons?
New updated animation with the latest data.
Keep in mind this is an early prediction based simply on data, and it's probably gonna change.
This is horrifying if the data is correct though.
THE ENTIRE EAST COAST IS GONNA FUCKIN DIE THIS IS THE STORM OF THE CENTURY U HERD IT HERE FIRST M8.
IVE LITERALLY NEVER SEEN PEOPLE UNDER REACTING THIS MUCH!
Have you guys seen the models. This storm is gonna hit the entire east coast at once, level every single coastal city, and then destroy DC.
This is the end anons.
is this the hurricane that crashes the stock market?
I wouldn't worry yet, but I'd suggest figuring out your evacuation/holdout plan before everybody else can realize they need to worry. Keep your gas tank topped off and review your property for hazards--precarious limbs, dead/sick-looking trees, overgrowth that may clog ditches. Consider now where and with whom you would stay in the event of evacuation. Have a bug-out bag prepared in case of a sudden, late change in trajectory.
>Addicks Reservoir Levels Monitoring
To any fags that were following the Addicks Dam during the Harvey Happening, how close did that dam get to breaking? It was 1 foot over the lowest section of the dam for a while, and its finally gone back down. Do you think one more day of rain, or even one more shower, and that would have been it? Houston would have a 30 foot wall of water traveling through the heart of the city?
How close was Houston to being fucked?
Yes. No storm surge, lower effects from wind, but probably more chance of flooding as it dumps water at elevation. Where would you head?
Maybe Greenwood, Greenville?
South Carolina checking in. Give it to me straight lads, how bad is Irma gonna be for me?
THE BEAR WILL LEAVE ITS CAGE FOREVER!!
Also it's good for me since I got short positions on all my stocks.
The only elevated chance of disaster is hitting houston again. Otherwise this will just be another average hurricane season with a small chance of disaster spread across the Coastal East US. Just don't get your hopes up.
Hypothesizing on weather is a pain. It goes very slowly and predictions are usually wrong. That's what we saw in the Oroville Dam threads. On the west coast there are rare "atmospheric rivers" bring a ton of rain. They're rare, they're destructive, but they're essential for building up snowpack.
Pretty damn close. Luckily, I wasn't effected here in my comfy Katy suburb, but I know people who live south of the Addicks Reservoir and they are having their houses condemned.
Urban sprawl must be stopped
Silicon Valley is the new Standard Oil.
Trump knows this. How and when does he bust these fuckers up?
I live 10 minutes from the beach, just when my life was going back and track and we fixed the door/window/walls JUST to have it destroyed huh...
Damn... this is deep, yo
Nah, we have hundreds coming from every community in Texas with supplies and people are turned back because so many people are turning up to help. The jew insurance companies and property owners are the only ones who want to FEMA. You know this
>global warming shills pick all the southerly models
>realists pick the average
fuck you faggots. one model (HWRF) shows irma skirting the bahamas, most others show it much further north, and the CLP5 shows it curling out into the atlantic.
fuck all you obama niggerlovers that are trying to push global warming. this irma bitch aint hittin the US. screencap.
You know I kind of wish it fucking happened. I live right on Buffalo Bayou. When I found out I lived a mile away from the Addicks and Barker I bailed the fuck out of there. My family thought I was fucking acting borderline mentally ill for moving all of our shit out, and they still do. The reservoirs are on wide open and the water has gotten damn close to my apartment, but hasn't gone inside. My family still thinks I was stupid for doing that.
"The Army Corps of Engineers are on it, anon. You think the smartest minds can't figure out how to handle water? Gosh, you have no faith..."
When I remind them about what happened at Oroville they use that as proof that the engineers know what they're doing, instead of proof that shit can get out of hand. I can't fucking handle all this retarded normieness anymore. I love my family but I think only something like a 30 foot wall of water crashing through downtown Houston can wake them the fuck up.
>people are donating millions
>regular citizens were teaming up and helping out neighbors and random strangers themselves
This disaster made me realize that we don't even need our government for most things.
>wilmington on 9/11
well then rip in piece wilmington city, university, and cape fear cc. It was nice attending for 3 years and now my program will be cancelled and our house will gone as well.
>digits confirm direct hit on Houston
Well that's exactly what I didn't wanna say. We went through this on the west coast earlier this year. You have to either accept that global warming is causing crazy storms in 2017, or accept that Harvey was a freak hurricane with an extremely low chance of happening again.
pls, I don't want all my shit to get flooded and then have nothing for 1-2 months.
I lived here about a year. It was nice, until it wasn't. I got the fuck out, but was fully anticipating a 30 foot wall of water to wash my apartment away. It hasn't done so yet, but the area is completely inaccessible. They built our apartments up several feet, so water hasn't gone inside. I hope my shit hasn't been looted while we're out. I hope the dams don't fail and wash all my shit away. We'll see.
Don't worry anon... the (((media))) is 100% on your side
I know, but I live here >>140056327
My shit is completely inaccessible, but they see it as little more than an inconvenience than anything I actually needed to worry about. They wonder how I can live my life worrying about things like this. It hurts my head how dumb my family is.
My area got pummeled by a storm in early June. Fucked a lot of cars up in some places, but this entire area has canals, pumps, and drainage, so flooding shouldn't really be a concern.
Nah I don't even think climate change made harvey hit hard. It was probably houston paving over 500 square miles which made a big low pressure zone of rising air for harvey to go into.
Urban retards BTFO
Newfag to meteorology here
a couple days ago the ventusky prediction for 9/10 showed Irma grazing the coast of new england, but todays prediction has it most certainly on its way to hitting mainland
is america actually fucked?
You shouldn't believe too much of anything that's longer than 3 days out. 5 day out or more forecasts give a decent indication of if it's going to hit landfall and give a very rough area of where it will hit but nothing like an exact location. Even that's subject to change but nobody should really worry until it's about 5 days out from a landfall.
Euro well S of previous run, trending SW like all other models.
lads, what if Irma threads the needle and goes straight into Chesapeake bay? Would the bay be fucked? Is Maryland going to turned into Atlantis? I need to know right now, in case I need to prep for a fish waifu.
6 PM run had it shooting right up the ass
Irma drives up the Chesapeake destroying Baltimore, DC, Philly, and swings east back toward the ocean flooding NYC
Now with image.
And you all thought we were bad to live in.
potential for massive storm surge wherever it lands. topography and high tide/low tide matters. atlantis is possible tho.
yeaaaaah if that run verifies on more than 50% of ensembles on Tuesday I'll have some phone calls to make. Family lives right on cape fear.
New England landfall would be /comfy/. Unlike Jerseytards we can handle out atlantic cyclones.
actually now I think the ravens will starve
CHECKED, IT'S HAPPENING!!
Nuclear war will start in conjunction with landfall of these Storms on or about 9/23. CAP THIS
At this point I think it's more important to focus on the first part of the prophecy.
It will happen when the weather cools.
That's when they'll make their move.
The plans made long ago, before the founding of America, and older still, will come to fruition.
They're trying to force God's hand.
Watch for these signs:
Are "these signs" all connected somehow? Or is it implying that "they'll make their move" only AFTER all the signs have come?
hey guys, just given you guys an update
Currently we're looking to around 3 weeks will the water goes down, meanwhile we're not allowed into our houses because of structural dangers and mold. We peered inside and I saw our freezer floating around, it has allow of meet inside and well, it's not good
Currently our greatest fear is they're speculating of condemning the entire neighborhood for obvious reasons. I mean some one died at the end of our street because he lived in that house all of his life and refused to abandon it
By divine grace my dad thought to buy flood insurance not but 3 months before this happened, but it may not cover the 3 cars that were ruined, not to mention the family heirlooms that are currently floating in shit water
got a vid of my back yard but I don't know how to convert MOV to webm
anyway, if you've got a chance to prepare fucking do it, don't listen to your retarded mayor, btw a shit load of people from my area are suing the city because of the neglect to the reservoirs as well as the poor advice to stay the storm.
I know it's just stuff, but its the stuff I grew up with, and some of the stuff was brought here from Europe almost 200 years ago.
Start preparing now so you don't have to lose these things
also, to the anons who sport the Kirby vacuum, I'm sorry
She didn't make it
:( I was there when we still had hope for your vacuum. Any news from grovebro?
did you need to get an escort to go to your property to take that pic? why not just sneak inside and get your really valuable shit?
Hope you got your all your shots and washed down in diluted bleach after that trip. lots of disease and shit floating in those waters.
if you feel like downloading ffmpeg and using command line:
ffmpeg -i "myVideo.mov" -ss 00:00:04 -t 00:00:15 -c:v libvpx -crf 10 -b:v 1M -an myVideo.webm
also make sure to add the ffmpeg.exe to your path
sucks to hear about all that stuff ruined, anon.
You needed show your dr licence to get in the neighborhood, most of my valuable stuff is either heavy or electronic (upstairs)
we have a big box full of family pics and we've gotten some out, but not allot since we're still going around in kayaks
Haven't heard much, understandably though, everyone is busy as fuck
can't get the audio off so I'm gonna post an updated old pic
still working on these vids
Lol no. It was a high pressure system that blocked and slowed down Harvey's movement.
Like 80% of Houston didnt flood. The reason for all the flooding is the cheap development. The city and Harrie County let developers run wild and cut corners on regulations (including flooding).
A lot of this could have been avoided even with the massive amounts of rain if the metro area was more planned out with additional reservoirs, wider bayous, and higher elevations for homes in flood plains.
city planning was pretty terrible. you have this combination of flat terrain, high population density, being a gulf state, and a known history of flooding. it's never really possible to avoid all flooding, but it's pretty clear over the decades there was no desire to better manage it and actually protect citizen interests.
here you go
the other one is big so it may take a while
I may repost this stuff in the morning when everyone is awake
Fuck yeah! Hit Florida, Irma! Come on! We wagies need an early vacation.
i'm an options trader, use this terminology all the time, bear market encourages selling and bull market encourages buying
reason why they call it that is because a bear drinks downwards and a bull drinks upwards
Always thought it was due to their nature. Bulls "charge" forward, gaining momentum and strength while bears hibernate and become less active at times. A bear market is like a market hibernation.
the predicted landfall hasn't come through yet... close though
thank god that low pressure system got BTFO in both models making landfall of this beast more and more likely....that shit was going to divert it back away from the coast
GFS looking spicy as fuck
I guess GFS over-predicts the intensity for a more accurate model according to r/tropicalweather fags. Euro model is likely a much more accurate gauge of the possible intensity
>that train of tropical waves rolling off Africa
Also a few other questions, if some fellow meteoranons would be kind enough to learn me.
What does the 'z' mean, in things like 'valid at 12z' or 'valid at 18z?'
and why do some models show the storm being a nice circle, while others are getting flattened once they hit the coast? Is that just because it's not over water any more? or is it because of elevation?
See my post above, GFS intensity is overtuned. Euro model has it making landfall at 920mb
Also now the Euro and GFS have this spicy motherfucker making landfall at almost the exact same place. Can't wait
>who is saying models that are predicting sub 915mb are very extreme and unlikely?
He's right, but the general indication still holds that Irma is likely to become a major hurricane.
>What does the 'z' mean,
It's the time zone abbreviation from the prime meridian/greenwich mean time.
well, at least I live in charlotte, and not on the fucking coast.
still getting ready for this bitch tho. i'm pretty green when it comes to storm watching, but i feel bad juju about this.
I'm more concerned about extended power outages, university city being shut down, and damage to my house (due to high winds and rain.)
stocking some food/water etc, and being prepared to board/secure the house only in the days prior to impact, if it's confirmed getting that close to charlotte.
I live at the top of the hill in my cul-de-sac, and the trees aren't too huge around me.
The most concerning thing is several of my friends vacationing in the OBX at the moment, but they should be back before Irma gets too close.
Hell, every time a good rainstorm comes through my street (I live in a trailer park) almost floods, and several of the streets in the park do flood.
I blame park management though, fucking slumlord cunts.
I wouldn't worry about anything until maybe Tuesday or Wednesday forecasts. Just make sure nothings really loose outside and not secure, I doubt you'll need to go as far as boarding up your house.
East of I-95 is pretty flat/low level and the sound/coast will get pretty boned regardless. Outside of that It's not that bad, at least nothing people haven't seen before there. If it does hit it'll probably be the biggest one since Fran in 96?
Good luck out there Texas guy
>Pic related is good shtf advice, if it's blurry (mobile users) go to the bottom of the page and click desktop site, refresh and it should be clear. Unless I uploaded a blurry image, kek.
Considering it's still forecasted to be a good ways out at sea by Thursday I'd say yeah it'll be unknown what Cat it'll be. The only thing even remotely accurate this long of a time out is where it'll hit or if it'll hit at all which isn't that great either.
Might be later than Tuesday/Wednesday now that I see the track. Just keep an eye on your local news weather forecast for the next week though.
Ventusky's moved landfall to be near Wilmington
Irma this isn't funny anymore.
I need you to STOP
Jesus Christ Puerto Rico... it's always want want want with you!
>i'm broke. gimme a bailout
>i got hit by a hurricane. gimme disaster funds.
>i don't get any respect. gimme statehood.
HOLY SHIT YOU WILL FUCKING DIE
But that's a false dichotomy and bull shit. Since 2005 there have been almost no major hurricanes, and few hurricanes making land fall. If the global warming cultists are correct then how come it's been over 10 years since we have seen a major storm?
Also, I'm tired of a weather event happening and people claiming the devastation is from AGW. Huston got fucked because it's a low lying area that got tons of rain dumped on it. This has happened in the early 1900's, and with greater effect. Fuck off with your cult bull shit.
The Canadian model has it hitting Florida.
Here's a gif of the latest GFS forecast
I second this. Everyone else politicizes cyclones in the US, we need to know what's true about these storms to discredit the political bullshit being pushed on us when they are discussed by normals.
Also, I guffawed at that pic. Thanks.
>lol that L is pretty much exactly where I live
>tfw live in nc
>family got hit in texas
>good freinds in sc
>family also in florida
If anything real goes down I swear to you /pol/ I will live stream out in the hurricane as my final gift to the world.
>I love my family but I think only something like a 30 foot wall of water crashing through downtown Houston can wake them the fuck up.
Some people are not meant to be saved anon. Let go.
Will you make paranoid videos with your guns in memory of Carlos?
But I just bought a house in Lewes...
I'm including all spanish present there, you know how they got there
why is flood insurance even a thing when we know no one buys it and we know everyone gets fucked if you dont
Guys... I live in WIlmington. We just had our first Pride Parade yesterday, full with trannys and everything degenerate.
I think God is coming for us.
so how bad was Harvey compared to Katrina? and how is Irma looking in the context of those two?
how many ded from Harvey so far?
thanks and stay safe burgerbros
I want a smug tv weatherman from the 80s to do all the reporting on Irma. It would be comfy as fuck
cant wait for shep smith
I would love a good storm, but I also don't want the SpaceX Falcon Heavy launch to be delayed. I'm looking forward to watching it blow up in November.
guys I'm scared should I be stocking up on nonperishable food items?
>“I encourage people to come down to the Cape to see the first Falcon Heavy mission,” he added, hinting at the riskiness of the launch. “It’s guaranteed to be exciting.”
>“There’s a lot of risk associated with Falcon Heavy, a real good chance that that vehicle does not make it to orbit,” Musk said, referring to the inaugural test launch. “I want to make sure to set expectations accordingly. I hope it makes it far enough beyond the pad so that it does not cause pad damage. I would consider even that a win, to be honest.”
im just buttmad because i got too comfy watching harvey from my room in Orlando. And regardless of what you fags are saying about it curving up it looks like a florida hit to me
>THE ENTIRE EAST COAST IS GONNA FUCKIN DIE IN THIS STORM
Maybe, if most of those homes weren't made of brick and concrete
