I wouldn't worry yet, but I'd suggest figuring out your evacuation/holdout plan before everybody else can realize they need to worry. Keep your gas tank topped off and review your property for hazards--precarious limbs, dead/sick-looking trees, overgrowth that may clog ditches. Consider now where and with whom you would stay in the event of evacuation. Have a bug-out bag prepared in case of a sudden, late change in trajectory.

To any fags that were following the Addicks Dam during the Harvey Happening, how close did that dam get to breaking? It was 1 foot over the lowest section of the dam for a while, and its finally gone back down. Do you think one more day of rain, or even one more shower, and that would have been it? Houston would have a 30 foot wall of water traveling through the heart of the city?

How close was Houston to being fucked?

The only elevated chance of disaster is hitting houston again. Otherwise this will just be another average hurricane season with a small chance of disaster spread across the Coastal East US. Just don't get your hopes up.

Hypothesizing on weather is a pain. It goes very slowly and predictions are usually wrong. That's what we saw in the Oroville Dam threads. On the west coast there are rare "atmospheric rivers" bring a ton of rain. They're rare, they're destructive, but they're essential for building up snowpack.

My family thought I was fucking acting borderline mentally ill for moving all of our shit out, and they still do. The reservoirs are on wide open and the water has gotten damn close to my apartment, but hasn't gone inside. My family still thinks I was stupid for doing that.

"The Army Corps of Engineers are on it, anon. You think the smartest minds can't figure out how to handle water? Gosh, you have no faith..."

When I remind them about what happened at Oroville they use that as proof that the engineers know what they're doing, instead of proof that shit can get out of hand. I can't fucking handle all this retarded normieness anymore. I love my family but I think only something like a 30 foot wall of water crashing through downtown Houston can wake them the fuck up.

You shouldn't believe too much of anything that's longer than 3 days out. 5 day out or more forecasts give a decent indication of if it's going to hit landfall and give a very rough area of where it will hit but nothing like an exact location. Even that's subject to change but nobody should really worry until it's about 5 days out from a landfall.

At this point I think it's more important to focus on the first part of the prophecy.

It will happen when the weather cools.
That's when they'll make their move.
The plans made long ago, before the founding of America, and older still, will come to fruition.
They're trying to force God's hand.
Watch for these signs:

Are "these signs" all connected somehow? Or is it implying that "they'll make their move" only AFTER all the signs have come?

hey guys, just given you guys an update
Currently we're looking to around 3 weeks will the water goes down, meanwhile we're not allowed into our houses because of structural dangers and mold. We peered inside and I saw our freezer floating around, it has allow of meet inside and well, it's not good
Currently our greatest fear is they're speculating of condemning the entire neighborhood for obvious reasons. I mean some one died at the end of our street because he lived in that house all of his life and refused to abandon it
By divine grace my dad thought to buy flood insurance not but 3 months before this happened, but it may not cover the 3 cars that were ruined, not to mention the family heirlooms that are currently floating in shit water
got a vid of my back yard but I don't know how to convert MOV to webm

anyway, if you've got a chance to prepare fucking do it, don't listen to your retarded mayor, btw a shit load of people from my area are suing the city because of the neglect to the reservoirs as well as the poor advice to stay the storm.
I know it's just stuff, but its the stuff I grew up with, and some of the stuff was brought here from Europe almost 200 years ago.
Start preparing now so you don't have to lose these things

Lol no. It was a high pressure system that blocked and slowed down Harvey's movement.

Like 80% of Houston didnt flood. The reason for all the flooding is the cheap development. The city and Harrie County let developers run wild and cut corners on regulations (including flooding).

A lot of this could have been avoided even with the massive amounts of rain if the metro area was more planned out with additional reservoirs, wider bayous, and higher elevations for homes in flood plains.
>>
>>140066598
city planning was pretty terrible. you have this combination of flat terrain, high population density, being a gulf state, and a known history of flooding. it's never really possible to avoid all flooding, but it's pretty clear over the decades there was no desire to better manage it and actually protect citizen interests.

Also a few other questions, if some fellow meteoranons would be kind enough to learn me.

What does the 'z' mean, in things like 'valid at 12z' or 'valid at 18z?'

and why do some models show the storm being a nice circle, while others are getting flattened once they hit the coast? Is that just because it's not over water any more? or is it because of elevation?
>>
>>140076451

See my post above, GFS intensity is overtuned. Euro model has it making landfall at 920mb

I'm more concerned about extended power outages, university city being shut down, and damage to my house (due to high winds and rain.)

stocking some food/water etc, and being prepared to board/secure the house only in the days prior to impact, if it's confirmed getting that close to charlotte.

I live at the top of the hill in my cul-de-sac, and the trees aren't too huge around me.

The most concerning thing is several of my friends vacationing in the OBX at the moment, but they should be back before Irma gets too close.

But that's a false dichotomy and bull shit. Since 2005 there have been almost no major hurricanes, and few hurricanes making land fall. If the global warming cultists are correct then how come it's been over 10 years since we have seen a major storm?

Also, I'm tired of a weather event happening and people claiming the devastation is from AGW. Huston got fucked because it's a low lying area that got tons of rain dumped on it. This has happened in the early 1900's, and with greater effect. Fuck off with your cult bull shit.

>“There’s a lot of risk associated with Falcon Heavy, a real good chance that that vehicle does not make it to orbit,” Musk said, referring to the inaugural test launch. “I want to make sure to set expectations accordingly.
