Probably. The analysts can't come up with any rational excuse for the drop today, but are trying to blame it on Trump and Barcelona, neither of which makes no sense - and says to me they're either hiding something, or they just don't know. The real reason? Tech is imploding, I think. The highs of facebook, snapchat, et al can't be sustained, and other markets are slowing, Walmart didn't hit their target, which is a good leading indicator of people not spending.
Money is too tight for too many, and too much wealth is sitting on the market, in the form of tech stocks. Correction? Most likely. We'll see how it plays out - could be just be the usual panic selling on bad news - good opportunity for buys, if you have the cash. Long term, I'm not worried, but the fall is probably going to be a rollercoaster on the market.
>>

If we want to keep our modern standard of living we need internet and the logistics to go along with it.
Sure things can also go to shit where gold/silver is valued, and things can absolutely hit the fan where alcohol batteries medical supplies are valued.
There are different scales to where a crash can take us, and it's probably best to be prepared for each one.

Profits reports came out showing profits were shrinking. Most likely due to rising wages (finally). The market dropped on that then stabilized and started to move up just before the religion of peace shared their culture with Spain. Then money started moving to gold and silver. I don't think it's the beginning of a crash.

Calling a top now may be premature, but the market certainly has had a brilliant run since 2011 and is overdue for a correction.

I've been shorting the NASDAQ 100 since last year, and as it has made new highs I've been slowly adding to my position.

If you truly believe that they stock market will go down you would put money into a short ETF that tracks the inverse of the market.

I'm saying its the dollar value that will get fucked. The dollar value of bitcoin, the dollar value of gold and the dollar value of bread and milk and everything.

Bitcoin isn't a currency since its value it described by dollars still and always will be. Its a database spreadsheet. That's it. The value of Bitcoin has gone from a few dollars to thousands in a few years. Thats suspect, don't you think? Where has all the extra value come from? Its an obvious bubble. Those "logistics" needed to function on the internet are unreliable.

1oz gold will forever remain 1oz and will be valued all over the planet as it has been all throughout history (until about 1974 in the west)

And worth $0 if there are no dollars to convert them too. You're not listening, because you're a bitcoin cult member. We know how it works. But at the end of the day, if you can't convert them to dollars or any other currency, they're worth nothing. They don't exist in a void, and my landlord won't take them, neither will my grocery store.

Again - keep thinking a falling dollar helps you in any way, stupid. You can't think beyond the smoke and mirrors the other Botcoin cultists have filled your head with.

Oh, and as for this. Shoot some money into an inverse ETF, gear at 1:10 if you're comfortable with it. Don't assume that BTC rise as a consequence of a market crash. As of today, because of the limited uses and huge amount of speculators, BTC is to be considered a luxury item. When markets fall and people lose jobs, the first thing they will liquidate to pay their mortgage is unnecessary items like BTC.

Most people assume the exact opposite, since BTC is supposedly detached from fiat. They are wrong.

Leveraged ETFs are bullshit here, last I tried it ate my money even when it went my way. I won't put any in until it's very obviously crashing, but it'll crash for a few months anyway when it does so that'll be enough, right? Unfortunately I don't have much investing money to put into it anyway, traditional stocks are just too slow for me with this capital.

I would never use any money I couldn't afford to lose trading something like bitcoin. My main strategy in case of a market crash would be to short the SPX, USD or whatever falls, on margin (not ETFs, I don't generally trust them). I have a good system for following trends particularly (see >>137967327 although it's not the full picture, and price action is the most important part).

>>137971174

So you lost a ton of money, then. Not mocking you but there's no reason to think the market is topping. The whole market is based on debt digits. It can go to essentially any level. New "normals" can be established at any time.

All your doing is playing a casino game and the "house" are brokers, banks, the Fed shareholders, insiders etc. Best of luck to you, but don't ever believe it's anything beyond that.

That's ~14k BTC if he bought january 1st, 2011 for 29 cents each.

. He'd get $65k if he sold next year for $4.70

~16,500 BTC if rebought at $4

$223,575 USD if he sold for 13.55 in 2013

22,357 BTC if rebought for $10

That would leave you with just under 10 million USD in 2014.

I have a poloniex account, but that won't allow you to withdraw over $2500 and I suspect that if someone dropped say $100k in your account, they might very well just snag it, calling it "money laundering" or whatever they want to.

Any exchange one can actually trust and withdraw from that you know of? I'd ask if you wanted to add me to skype (I'll post mine) for general business advice and whatnot, but it's probably better anonymously on /pol/ and you'd always be second-guess my motives anyway (can't really trust anyone once you know they know you have money - not that I know the feeling but I can imagine).

I'll check back in a while (just say yes/no or ignore it if you don't feel like either), otherwise see you in December/January or whenever it might be over, and good luck.

The DOW reached approximately 18k when Obama was in office. Since Trump's election it has soared more than 4k to approximately 22k. The reason for this has been the expectation of a reform of the tax code and other priorities the business community wants to see. This, along with the placement of several very pro-Wall Street figures in key government positions.

The market is unlikely to "crash" as it is to readjust. It will all happen slowly as Wall Street and business leaders begin to realize they're unlikely to get the policy outcomes they were hoping for. The market will tumble back to it's 18k level. A full crash is unlikely because unemployment is the lowest in quite some time and other indicators are good. We'll see a reset of expectations.

Can you talk a little about what it's like to be so wealthy now?

In 2011 I was stationed in Afghanistan and learned about BTC. I was on the verge of purchasing $10k just to see what would happen. Ended up deciding against it. My reasoning was:
>(((they))) control the media anyway and can hype anything up or down as they choose if it's based primarily on confidence and hype, and since BTC is one of many basically equivalent crypto-coins any of them can be hyped up and down via mass media. They can all more or less run on the same hardware which makes the crypto-coin "software" infinitely interchangeable and hence the value infinitely shillable.

I still believe my reasoning was correct, but just way, way too early. I went through a really intense depression over my decision not to purchase. It still hits me sometimes when I think about it.

Now I left the military to try to start a business. I'm struggling like hell just to stay afloat. The whole point of this business is to make enough money to be able to create my dream business one day. As a result I sometimes think "if only I had bought, I could have started my dream business and be living the life." It hurts, tbqh.

Sorry for the blog post.

DNB har kontorer i London, Luxembourg, you name it.

There was a poll out of a midwestern state of Wisconsin not long ago asking voters their perspectives on the economy. All of a sudden that state seems to think the US economy is booming. You see, Dems remains positive, independents held steady, but GOP voters polled suddenly think the economy is booming (presumably because their guy is running things now.) It was reported that approximately 1 million jobs were created in the first 6 months of Trump's term. There were also 1 million jobs created in Obama's last 6 months.

So the economy is a lot stronger than it's been in a while and people are starting to feel it. Also, the "bubble" likely isn't in stocks (aside from some recent over excitement) but in the bond markets according to Greenspan.

>>137978043
Back in 2011 with the debt crisis the US economy and stock market definitely took a hit. But I don't think terror attacks in 2017 have much impact on American expectations for Europe among most investors. That could all change if there's another meltdown across the pond, though.

Didn't see this post until now.

I don't live much of a jetset life. It's extremely satisfying to be able to purchase what I'd like, and not have to worry about being able to pay the bills.

On the downside, everyone you come in contact with is either trying to leech off of you, or they have money, which usually means that they are insufferable pricks.

I have ownership in a few businesses to keep me busy and to keep me from losing touch with reality. And of course I browse this shithole a lot.

Slight correction, 18.5 was Obama's max level.
It did jump up after election, would likely settle back down to 19.5 or 20 when things normalize.

how much trust is there if "society crumbles"?

dollar is a token of value; if society crumbles, society won't be producing much value, and the currency will implode

add to that already tens of trillions of dollars of debt + trillions in QE. it's a house of cards

I can imagine this. At the same time, if you understand the monetary system (always more debt than currency, by design, to enslave people) then it's hard not to feel compassion. Am I wrong?

No, I completely get them. It's not too long ago since I was a poorfag, so I remember the mentality. When you come across some richfag, to whom $50,000 means nothing, but it would completely change your life, it's hard not to feel at least just a little bit entitled.

So true. I imagine myself in that situation and this dilemma would eat at me. I truly believe that the solution lies in a business model that gives a significant portion of the means of production back to families so they can get out from under the thumb of (((debt))).

I'm a distributist at heart, or something similar. Big fan of Belloc. I really liked Gottfried Feder's 'Garden Cities' that he desired to build, post-war (had they won). Seems to be a wallet and client? No problem, it's safer anyway. The problem is transferring $100k out of it. You need to get to an exchange and have someone buy your BTC, but then the exchanges are Jewy fucks that might screw you over if you're not on a good one.

An exchange is something like poloniex, it has an initial limit of $2500 a day, that is BTC to USD. Your BTC is almost worthless for your real life, until it's transferred to "real" (government backed fiat) money. This is what you need an exchange for, and where you start running into possible limits.

Got to go anyway, won't respond more.
