I've got 2 litecoin. Mostly from my mining phase. Went dogecoin -> bitcoin -> litecoin in order to escape bter's lockdown following their hack. Holding it in a cold wallet and forgetting about it for a while. Might dump a couple hundred into whatever is expected to increase in value over the next few years.

Bitcoin will be vulnerable for a while. It was only a couple of years ago that it went from $1200 to $200. I fully expect to see another cataclysm like that with the value having exponentially grown in the recent past.

If you ride the wave well, you can make a lot of money. However, if you fuck up, you're going to be shit outta luck if you invested somewhere along the middle of the curve. That't what happened last time. People thought they were going to make a bunch of money and then bought in at $1000+, but when the curve started to level and some drops were experienced, everyone tried to sell at once.

While I don't see bitcoin dropping to $200 again (since it has far more utility than back in 2014) I fully expect it to fall below the $1000 mark for a time when a lot of late investors get nervous about their purchase.
>>
>>137714133
Bitcoin's recent growth curve looks exactly like the mania phase.
>>
>>137713984
Also, we haven't been waiting for the crash for 3 years. It crashed 3 years ago, steadily gained value over the last 2, and exponentially increased in value in the same manner that it did preceding the previous crash.
>>
>>137714869
Even if there is a crash, bitcoin is here to stay. If you bought at the ATH right now, in a few years you will probably have doubled your money.
>>
Bitcoin will be the world's first global currency. Listen faggots, I order a lot of stuff for my company abroad (huge batches) and specifically in China. Every 10$ I pay for a transaction abroad is actually worth 9.20$ after the banks have processed it. The complete payment process takes 16 fucking steps and 4 days to be validated. With Bitcoin it would actually be somewhere around 8$ given its recent tx costs. Anyway, the whole payment process can be cut to only 1 step and 2 minutes (making it 10000 times faster) with cryptocurrency. Whether you like it or not, investing in both Ethereum and Bitcoin is a wise move. This shit will be worth thousands in the upcoming years. 2017 has been the beginning.
>>
>>137717728
Forgot to mention that with cryptocurrency your 10$ would be worth 9.85$ given that an average of 1.5% is paid to the payment processing company.
>>
>>137712933
Bitcoin is very valuable, but it won't stay that way if governments and special interests nullify it's value through laws.
Really wish I had put something in it, probably still should, only have a handful of sats

>It will probably surpass 10k so be patient.

Personally I think we are looking at an intermediate high at the moment, with a real possibility of an all time high.

Or let's put it simply: buy when there is blood on the street and sell if everyone thinks there is still a long way to go. I believe right now bitcoin is a bit overhyped, I await a pullback down to below 1000 bucks and then maybe, depending on circumstances and alternatives, a hike up to 10,000 or higher and a final pullback to the real value.

40.

Bought at $330.

Holding until 20k.

Don't care if I lose it all, the money's already been gone for several years now and I don't rely on it to succeed, but if it does, it's icing on the cake.

Sure it is going below 1000 USD again. Screencap this post. It has only been above 1000 USD for a few months. Just as gold will also dip below 1000 USD again.
>>
>>137720614
The public's perception of cryptocurrency has changed dramatically. It's starting to gain mainstream adoption both by investors and by businessman looking to make things more efficient. There will be a dip, but there's no way it's losing 3/4 of it's market cap. You may call it a "bubble," but there is still an order of magnitude of growth available.
>>
How do I get started with cryptocurrency? I have a pretty sizable inheritance and would like to grow my money.
>>
>>137720826
And right now we're in gold rush territory
>>
>>137720829
Get an account with Gemini first, this will allow you to do bank transfers to buy bitcoin on the exchange. After that you can withdraw to an offline wallet to protect it from hacking/website destruction. Many people recommend coinbase but they have awful customer service, I don't trust them.
>>
>>137712933
6 BTC, but I also lost 6 BTC back in 2014 when Mt.Gox went down. I had half on Mt. Gox and the other half in a secure offline wallet. Should have put all of it in secure wallets tho.
>>
>>137713250
Dollar is imaginary but it is backed by USA. Bitcoin is backed by no one.
>>
>>137720826
This has little to do with perception, but a lot to do with alternatives. Look at ethereum and its explosion, pullback and going up again. Both coins can live in a parallel system, but the question is, for how long and for what purpose.

At the end, blockchain usage is nice and dandy, but look at what happened to the ethereum fork back in the days - it is entirely possible to shit on a cryptocurrency and make it fail. It is possible to introduce alternatives and it is possible for shifts between cryptocurrencies to occur.

In any event, 98% of both bitcoins and ethereum coins are held for "investment purposes", which has only been the case for bubble assets in the history of mankind.
>>
>>137720829
>I have a pretty sizable inheritance and would like to grow my money.
The best way to lose your inheritance is to gamble with it. You can go to a casino and put half of it on red and make 150% out of your current inheritance... or you put half of it in cryptocurrencies. At the end the odds of losing or winning are about the same.

As to "how", just google it, you just get a coin exchange account to buy.
>>
>>137721249
There would need to be serious news to hurt bitcoin's reputation for that to happen though. It's the first coin, even if it isn't the best, and that has carried it for a long time.
>>
Only spend what you can afford to lose. I just blew $1000 on some crappy 'penny' altcoins - if they make it to a couple of bucks each I'll be a millionaire if they don't, I don't give a fuck

Altcoins were always a scam. The strategy around altcoins has always been "pump and dump".
Someone creates the altcoin, advertises it, manages to popularise it a bit within the hardcore early adopter coin traders, the coin starts trading on one of the various cryptocurrency websites, then its value skyrockets. Let's say a coin is trading for 10^-7 BTC when it starts, but its new popularity bumps its value to 10^-4 BTC. That's a 1000x increase in value. Imagine you have either started mining that coin from the very beginning or have purchased a small amount of coins when the value was low, you can still make an interesting profit from "dumping" all your coins once its value has grown substantially.
The problem is, after the "dump" the coin loses its value and usually never recovers.

Bit coin and any thing like that will be pump and dumped by any of the jew cartels like a fresh bimbo uni student with daddy issues.
They just need to buy a pile of it,see retards i think it will forever grow invest i their life saving in it,sell it and move to ethereal or whatever meme coin they fancy, you're playing a game you still know nothing of with people with more means to do so,you will make money as long as the cartels go with it but if you get on a wrong footing you'll loose all.
Just saying because they have been doing so with the precious metals and those are physical things but they trade in futures, now imagine there was absolutely no physical market like with bitcoin, you're in for a ride kiddo, you can make money out of it but it's an investment not for saving and it will be always on the Jewish leash.
