Let's imply that DeZ is reached from both the West and the South, and the Salami front pushed back as well. What will the SAA do next? Will they push through the Euphrates towards the North East till they meet the k*rds, go to Al Qaim, or deal with Idlibstan?

Al Bukamal, to secure the border and open the Tehran-Beirut highway
Russian embassy in US ‘perplexed’ by Tillerson’s statement on new sanctions bill
Saturday’s statement from the US State Department which said that the new round of sanctions against Russia represent “the strong will of the American people” to see Moscow doing more to improve relations with their US counterparts “can cause nothing but perplexity,” the press service of the Russian diplomatic mission to the US has said. “Washington fails to understand that methods of pressure and strain don’t work in regards to Russia; moreover, improvement in relations can’t be reached through sanctions,” the Russian embassy’s statement underlined. Rex Tillerson said that “we hope that there will be cooperation between our two countries on major global issues and these sanctions will no longer be necessary,” commenting on the sanctions bill approved by Congress.

The escalation in Turkey is solely the fault of the kurds. Few years ago, Erdogan was a kurdlover and put them into the parliament, federal positions. The kurds saw this as opportunity to undermine the turkish government and even intesify their operations.

In this case assads soldiers are better trained and equiped than the enemy so he isnt just marching men into a meat grinder until the grinder jams.
>Syrian Army suffers its heaviest losses in latest push to Deir Ezzor
On Saturday, the Islamic State (ISIL) launched a big counter-attack against the Tiger Forces near the towns of Ghan Al-‘Ali and Shinan.
The terrorist group managed to drive back the Syrian Arab Army and even cutoff of their supply line to the aforementioned town, forcing the government to regroup to free the soldiers trapped by ISIL.
However, on Sunday morning, the Syrian Arab Army, alongside the Raqqawi tribes, conducted a successful counter-attack, freeing the troops that were cutoff from the government’s supply line.
As a result of this counter-attack, the Syrian Arab Army was able to advance into Ghan Al-‘Ali and seize at least 50 percent of the town – fierce clashes ongoing..
According to a military source in the area, the Syrian Arab Army lost over 40 soldiers during the Islamic State’s counter-attack, as the terrorist group’s 10+ suicide attacks caught the government off guard.
Sunday’s losses are the highest casualty toll the Syrian Arab Army has witnessed during the battle in southeast Al-Raqqa .

Offensive operations impose the commanders will on the enemy. That's what offensive operations are. The commander has a will and gives out the orders for his soldiers to accomplish that will. The defenders try to stop that, to gain initiative so that they in turn can impose their will.

>Syrian Army kills scores of Islamists in new east Damascus advance
BEIRUT, LEBANON (1:20 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) unleashed a vicious assault on the east Damascus suburb of ‘Ayn Tarma, Sunday, storming Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses from several axes.
The assault started early on Sunday morning when the Syrian Air Force (SyAAF) repeatedly bombed Faylaq Al-Rahman’s positions in the ‘Ayn Tarma Triangle.
Following the airstrikes, the Syrian Arab Army’s 105th Brigade of the Republican Guard and 42nd Brigade of the 4th Mechanized Division began their assault on ‘Ayn Tarma by launching a barrage of mortar shells and surface-to-surface missiles.
Once the mortar and missile fire subsided, the Syrian Arab Army attack Faylaq Al-Rahman’s defenses from several axes, advancing near the Sonbol Station after fierce clashes.
According to a source from the 42nd Brigade, Faylaq Al-Rahman suffered more than 30 dead or wounded during the Syrian Army’s onslaught today.
The source added that many of Faylaq Al-Rahman’s wounded fighters were transferred to field hospitals in Irbeen and Madyra.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (2:30 P.M.) – The leader of the Lebanese Forces, Samir Geagea, rebuffed the victory in ‘Arsal that was dedicated to the Lebanese people by Hezbollah’s Secretary General, Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.
“If Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah wants to dedicate something of value to the Lebanese, let him hand over his weapons to the Lebanese army and engage in political action, the same as we all did. This step has been overdue for 27 years now,” Geagea claimed in an Al-Hayat interview.
“It is rather one episode in the series of battles that it has been fighting for the past six years in Syria to shore up (Syrian President) Bashar al-Assad,” Geagea added, as quoted by Naharnet online.
Geagea has been an outspoken opponent of Hezbollah since his release from prison in 2005 for war crimes he committed during the Lebanese Civil War.

>Syrian Army suffers its heaviest losses in latest push to Deir Ezzor
BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:05 P.M.) – The battle for southeast Al-Raqqa has reached a critical point, as the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) attempts to liberate the town of Ma’adan and enter the Deir Ezzor Governorate.
Sunday’s losses are the highest casualty toll the Syrian Arab Army has witnessed during the battle in southeast Al-Raqqa.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:25 P.M.) – Syrian journalist Khaled Al-Khatib was killed on Sunday afternoon while traveling to the Syrian Arab Army’s (SAA) front-lines in the eastern countryside of the Homs Governorate.
Khaled was traveling with his cameraman while on assignment with Russia Today, when his vehicle was struck by an anti-tank missile fired by the Islamic State (ISIL) near the town of Al-Baghiliyah in eastern Homs.
Born in Salamiyah City in 1992, Khaled worked as a freelance journalist for several years before starting his tenure with Russia Today in 2017.
Khaled was an only son, which made him exempt from military service; however, instead of remaining inactive, he chose to dedicate his life to reporting from the front-lines with the Syrian Army.

DAMASCUS, SYRIA (3: 10 P.M.) – The Syrian government forces continue to make steady advances deep in the stretching Syrian Desert amid massive ISIS collapse.
Today, the Army troops took over a chunk of territories expanding 11 km to the east of al-Hail oil field, and liberated most of Rajm al-Saboun village which overlooks al-Sukhnah from the south.
Earlier, the government forces were capable of reaching the western outskirts of the ISIS bastion.
The battles killed at least 5 ISIS militants and uncovered a network of tunnels used by the jihadists in the desert battlefront.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (3:55 P.M.) – A group of fighters from Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham have defected to another Islamist faction in the East Ghouta region of Damascus, local opposition activists reported on social media today.
The members of Ahrar Al-Sham allegedly defected to Faylaq Al-Rahman, a group that is allied with Hay’at Tahrir Al-Sham in the East Ghouta.
The opposition activists claimed that the Ahrar Al-Sham defectors belonged to an anti-armored regiment that was stationed in the town of Irbeen.
This latest report comes as rumors of infighting between Harakat Ahrar Al-Sham members have spread in the East Ghouta.

BEIRUT, LEBANON (5:15 P.M.) – The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) launched an attack against the self-proclaimed Islamic State’s (IS; formerly ISIL/ISIS) stronghold of Al-Sukhnah, in the eastern countryside of Homs, Saturday.
The attack, believed to be the SAA’s last one in the area, was backed by Syrian airstrikes, dislodging IS from their positions on Al-Sukhnah’s western outskirts.
The Syrian Arab Army is steadily advancing around Al-Sukhnah today, liberating most of the area near the town’s western gates.
Once Al-Sukhnah is captured, the Syrian Arab Army will have nothing but desert between their positions and the Deir Ezzor Governorate.

>Bolivian president calls US ‘threat to international law, UN’ over ‘unilateral’ Russia sanctions
Bolivian President Evo Morales slammed the US as a “threat to multilateralism, international law, the UN,” and condemned the latest round of sanctions against Russia.
“The United States again seeks to impose unilateral sanctions against Russia. They contradict international law. Bolivia rejects them,” Morales tweeted.
"With these types of sanctions, the USA can be described as a threat to multilateralism, international law, and the United Nations," another tweet said.
It comes a couple of days after the US Senate adopted yet another round of sanctions, aimed at Russia, North Korea, and Iran. Now only the signature by US President Donald Trump remains before the sanctions are finally greenlighted.
The White House has stated that President Trump is satisfied with the document and “intends to sign it” shortly.

If they weren't too occupied killing each other over the specific sect of Jihadis they belong to, they might have a 1/10 chance
>with YPG support
they're occupied in Raqqa and on the Euphrates vs ISIS and to keep the T*rks at bay in Al Babi already, why open a conflict with the SAA that has a giant front in common with them?

Since HTS united Idlib, they're unstoppable
HTS are far stronger than Assadist armies combined, also Russia is distracted with ISIS

Afrin YPG will do and also turks don't fight assad so they are not enemies, but assad harasses kurds in qamishlo and has blockaded afrin with turks
If they work with free syrian revolutionaries, they can link up with sheik maqsoud and also more chance of democratic syria

I thought militaries would use more precise terminology by now, fuzzy esoteric definitions like that piss me off. the objective isn't to "impose the commander's will", it's following a strategy and implementing the right tactics to achieve the set goal, not some kind of metaphysical shit about "imposing someone's will"
skimmed through the field manual and it basically defines an offensive as "seizing the initiative" right at the beginning of the initiative section, same shit
I'd also like to point out that "raid" is never defined as a type of offensive operation but it is used in that capacity but that's nitpicking
cool if it was a misunderstanding but serves to illustrate that militaries need to get their shit straight, terminology wise
I once wrote a paper on hybrid warfare and it's exactly the same in that case, no coherent definition and a term more influenced by ideological factors than by actual analytical usefulness

I'm guessing it tries to portray the parties that benefit the most from the gulf crisis.
israel benefits from the separation of arab counties, takes the spotlight away from palestine, claim hamas to be a terrorist organization

Since he was secretary general in that period, I'm guessing the original vignette was from the Kosovo war only and the obvious McCain shop and the other countries' names were added later
