Because I wouldn't bother signing up for ranger program if you can't run 5 miles in under 40 minutes. marathon level of running and ruck sacking practice will be the best way to prepare. Memorization of the tie knots, ranger code, and small arms tactical unit tactics. Ambush, raid, you should memorize all of it. I've been running for week #6 now down here in Houston at the hot time of the day. Just broke 2.77 miles at a slow pace. I'm not worried about my 2 mile time. I wanna get my baseline miles up from 10 a week to 15 miles a week. Then to 25 miles a week. Mix up long runs, speed training, and light runs. Upper body strength too. Lift weights then run. If you get too tired from the weights fuck it and focus on running. Basic training should build your strength more so then your cardio. If you sign for ranger program you better have 25 miles a week for your runs pussy. My goal after 25 miles a week will be to sprint an entire mile jog for 5 minutes then repeat 3 more times. (that last part is special forces workout) rucking with a weapon seems intimidating in under 3 hours.
