Looking in the comments, plenty of people are assuming the nog died because of being choked out.

That's fucking nonsense, choking somebody like that is a simple hold that all security, police, bouncers etc are taught to do if required. You're not choking them to make them stop breathing, you're choking them to make breathing more difficult and so you have complete control over their movements.

Also, if somebody tries to swallow something it is standard procedure to try to get that out of their mouth in case it is dangerous or illegal.

You do that by restricting their ability to swallow and attempting to remove it from their mouth, hoping they don't bite you.

It's very likely he died from ingesting a large amount of drugs though this is yet to be seen.

If he did die as a result of the officer's actions then he only has himself to blame. If you run from police, start swallowing God knows what, resist arrest and generally act like an uppity nigger you will be restrained and you will be injured in the process.

Despite this being an anonymous board that prides itself on this fact - there are people amongst us who believe themselves to be particularly special and above all others here. They believe that their posts and opinions are more highly valued and more important than the contributions of others - these people are known as tripfags.

They are a rotten pustulent cancer that has destroyed this board - along with their allies: The Karenposters and the miscellaneous food item posters - they have worked tirelessly to derail all forms of rational discussion in favour of their rampant egomania. Their almost unquenchable narcissism has derailed countless discussion and caused a great rift between the formerly united posters of Brit/pol/.
The Tripcunt is immunized against all dangers: one may call him a narcissist, egomaniac, arsehole, attention seeker, it all runs off him like water off a raincoat. But tell people to filter his tripcode and you will be astonished at how he recoils, how injured he is, how he suddenly shrinks back: “I’ve been found out.”
You can stop tripfags by simply not responding to them ever. You can hide and filter tripcodes by going to the [SETTINGS] link at the bottom of the page and adding their tripcode to the FILTER option. BE SURE TO HIDE POST STUBS.

This will improve your experience here tenfold - as it has done mine.
TRIPCODES TO ADD TO THE FILTER LIST!

Lads, I'm totally baffled as to why the American colonialists wanted independence.

>They were taxed far less than others in the Empire

>Per capita wealth was higher in New England, and wealth was more evenly distributed, making them amongst the wealthiest people on Earth

>The British monopoly on trade with America meant they would always have a market for their cattle, ships, agricultural produce, and the like

>Lord North offered them the ability to control their own taxation provided they actually funded their own services, institutions, and civil authorities

>They had their own representative assemblies in Massachusetts, Philadelphia and elsewhere

>They had more religious freedom than anywhere else in the Empire

>The British had a vested interest in keeping them, as they were a subsidiary to the immensely profitable sugar islands

I just don't fucking get it.

Also, the Boston Tea Party was organised by fucking CRIMINALS because the tea price was becoming so low they couldn't make a black market profit. And the yanks IDOLISE these criminals! The East India Company offloaded its excess on America at low, low prices (as it didn't need to go through British duties, and because of the rebate)

>they were taxed far less than others in europe
they were facing being taxed double though. they already paid taxes to their colonial governments/assemblies, and then parliament was asserting its absolute right to tax them.

>Per capita wealth was higher in New England, and wealth was more evenly distributed, making them amongst the wealthiest people on Earth

yea they were rich, but rich people tend to be the ones who object the most to taxation. same group revolted against ship tax in the english civil war.

>The British monopoly on trade with America meant they would always have a market for their cattle, ships, agricultural produce, and the like

they would have had a market regardless, proven by history. if the british monopoly was good for the colonies financially then smuggling would not have been profitable

>Lord North offered them the ability to control their own taxation provided they actually funded their own services, institutions, and civil authorities

i'd like to hear more about this. all i can recall right now is when parliament repealed the townshend acts, it asserted its right to tax the colonies however it saw fit.

>They had their own representative assemblies in Massachusetts, Philadelphia and elsewhere

yea and the colonists realized these assemblies were better at anticipating and meeting their needs than an assembly across the sea.

>They had more religious freedom than anywhere else in the Empire

the revolution wasn't really about religion.

>>The British had a vested interest in keeping them, as they were a subsidiary to the immensely profitable sugar islands

the main cause of the revolt was chasing the french off of the continent completely. should've left the frogs some token territories so the colonists had something to fear and a desire for the king's protection.

i think with america in the commonwealth the world would be a much better place, but thats not what happened
>>
>>134700108
That's the point I was making you dumb lard. I was mocking the remainers who say "well the EU is such and such percent of our trade".

The US states literally just existed as subsidiaries to the sugar islands; not a major loss. I'm just baffled why people who profited so greatly from empire decided to leave it.

The colonists taxes were immensely lower than those on the mainland. Average tax in Britain was 36 shillings, in the colonies it was just one shilling.

They were barely taxed in the first place! Most of the taxes that were originally objected to (including Townshend's duties) had been repealed by the 1760s.

Lord North said assemblies in the states could levy their own taxes provided they looked after their own institutions. The British government reserved the right to tax the colonies how it saw fit, but North said that it wouldn't be exercised under normal circumstances.

The British provided to resources to help the colonists wrest the land from the Indians, defeat the French in the Seven Years War, and refrained from levying taxes comparable with the rest of the Empire. The British would rather let the Bengalis starve, and thus tank the EIC, than tax the already immensely privileged yanks more.

the tax might have been lower than in the british isles, but the colonists were also paying taxes to their local governments. they had been self-taxing and taking care of their own administration for years. your figure of 1/36th what the british paid does not take into account the taxes the colonists were paying to the local governments.

a promise of not using a tax under "normal circumstances" is pretty flimsy. what happens when North resigns or is replaced? it was obviously going to lead to more taxes to help sustain the british.

Those who went in 1620 certainly were, but then again they also had a habit of dying. By 1680 New England was well established.

Still, I get your point. Y'know, I think Russia is actually offering Brits and other Westerners money to settle in the Far East of the country.

Those leaving after 1680 were pioneers too, they were still able to see that a people, a collective outlook is more important than an area of land.

Britain and its culture is a result of pioneering humans, an admixture of neanderthal DNA and the drive to constantly seek 'more' and a better life. If we are to believe we all came from sub-Saharan Africa then there is a clear, huge difference between those who moved North to find a better life and those who stayed put and continue to do so.

Our ancestors, over tens of thousands of years, bravely explored the world and strived for better. They learned as much as they could about everything and never stopped searching for a superior life to that they were currently living.

That spirit still lives on among a small percentage of the population, but the overpopulation of the world and geopolitical fuckery has made it all but impossible to carve out new lands and to keep growing as a group.

You're right about Siberia, though I have managed to find no way of actually applying despite trying quite hard. I imagine it would be a case of contacting the Russian embassy.

Hysteria was great man, really well written - I could really relate to his hypersensitivity in that situation too, I can get like that when I'm stoned. Watched the BBC Arena documentary on ol' Thomas too which was surprisingly good but I think my favourite reading experience of the day was 'Ash Wednesday' which I read out loud to myself in a rather dramatic and thespian way. I really like the way he played with the sounds of the words in that one which isn't really something I'd given him renown for in the past, like in this verse:
If the lost word is lost, if the spent word is spent
If the unheard, unspoken
Word is unspoken, unheard;
Still is the unspoken word, the Word unheard,
The Word without a word, the Word within
The world and for the world;
And the light shone in darkness and
Against the Word the unstilled world still whirled
About the centre of the silent Word.

That's the one yeah, Heaney pops up a fair bit. There was lots of interesting stuff about his relationship with Pound too i.e. his cutting out of large swathes of The Wasteland as well as his job at the publishing company which I didn't know much about. I gave Prufock a go a while ago and loved the writing style but it never really clicked, will give it another shot soon. There's a good bit in that docco too about them discussing Prufock in a uni seminar type setting, might be worth watching if you want a glimpse of some of the inane kind of observations your mostly female classmates will be making. 'Etherised on a table... it just sounds really weird... y'know?'. Also I'd forgotten he'd written the Book of Practical Cats which was by far one of my favourites as a kid.

Hopkins does a good reading of Prufrock-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLNsPhKlucY
Studied it in sixth form and no one else in my class got it. Sort of changed my life. Hadn't read anything like it before, so I went and read loads of other Modernists as well, Joyce, Pound, Beckett etc.
This is another good poem. Hitchens told me he thought it was miraculous, so if like him you might want to look at it. Does well to some up the situation we're all in-

Mostly yes.

As always read critically but he's quite good until he concludes that the British Empire was good because it meant everyone plays team sports now and we should go quietly into the darkness.

good evening lads (morning if you're in Britain cause I know GMT is +6 hours of CDT lol)

I just wanted to let you know that I went to the laundry mat today and overheard a british couple with a young child talking about /pol/, Brexit, and Trump.

The man said that the only reason Brexit happened was because Trump endorsed it when he started campaigning (and also because he and Nigel browse Brit/pol/ and took your suggestions on how to campaign).

I would like to hear your guys' thoughts on this because I know that you guys support Farage, Trump and (obviously) browse Brit/pol/.

Thanks in advance!

have you guys ever seen "Birth of a Nation?"

it's a 3 hour silent film about the American Civil War and the rise of the KKK but I recommend watching at least the first 1.5 hours as it's some of the best cinematography I've ever seen out of the era. Elsie Stonewall a cute!
I will add to this:

it was made in 1915 but it's received numerous awards despite being a (((racist))) civil war film and was monumental in developing modern day filming techniques

I'm not even a film buff but I recognized the amount of effort and perfection that went into this film as soon as I started watching it.

Here's a link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I3kmVgQHIEY&t

Like I said, the first act (1.5 hours) is definitely worth watching. The 2nd act is a bit over the top which is probably why the NAACP tried to ban it (unsuccessfully) here in the states (lots of blackface and nigger jokes in that part).

In all honesty, it wouldn't surprise me if you can't watch it in Britain. Let me know what you all find out pls.

If you can't, let me know and I'll upload it somewhere that you can watch it.

It's such a weird feeling. I guess it's some sort of evolutionary thing but from what I've read it's triggered by stress. Though I don't fully buy that because it's happened when I'm completely relaxed in life and then at times I'm stressed as fuck I've not had it.

This was painted in the 1700s so people have been talking about it for a long time.

I have, a few mild cases but once where I really was fully awake/aware and couldn't move a limb, had to make a concious/deliberate attmpt to move and only broke out of it by wiggling my jaw or some weird shit, couldn't move for a good 5 secs or so, saw no figures or anything though.
