I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you’re referring to as Galil, is in fact, Rk.62/Galil, or as I’ve recently taken to calling it, Rk.62 plus Galil. Galil is not a rifle unto itself, but rather another marginal improvement of a fully functioning Rk.62 system made useful by the Rk.62 corelibs, shell utilities and vital system components comprising a full rifle as defined by POSIX.
Many rifle users run a modified version of the Rk.62 system every day, without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the version of Rk.62 which is widely used today is often called “Galil”, and many of its users are not aware that it is basically the Rk.62 system, developed by the Rk.62 Project. There really is a Galil, and these people are using it, but it is just a part of the system they use.
Galil is the kernel: the program in the system that allocates the machine’s resources to the other programs that you run. The kernel is an essential part of an operating system, but useless by itself; it can only function in the context of a complete operating system. Galil is normally used in combination with the Rk.62 operating system: the whole system is basically Rk.62 with Galil added, or Rk.62/Galil. All the so-called “Galil” distributions are really distributions of Rk.62/Gal

That shit is heavy as fuck. I know since I've had the pleasure of handling one. It's fucking crap considering your Island is mostly desert and your fighting overseas sandpeople in their sandcastle sandboxes where light weight is preferable since you're constantly losing liquids due to the heat..

Also AUG is a fucking jam-o-matic when it meets sandy environments. God-tier when used in mountainous but temperate climates like Austria but shit tier in sandland.

Keymod is lighter, modulate how you like, and allows for better cooling. Going full quadrail is so 2000s.
>>
>>132728968
That test means nothing.
No one is going to submerge their AK in mud, the loose tolerances is what makes it run so well in any condition but forcefully filling the void the bolt is meant to enter will cause a failure no matter the rifle.
>>132729822
>>132729733
Because the AR has tight tolerances (and they closed the fucking bolt cover) so almost nothing got in. It's a situation that will legitimately never happen. AR platform is better than the AK though.

>In the museums, and in hands of the arabs.
Arabs mostly have AKM's and western weapons now thanks to the sand people the US put in place just giving up and letting ISIS take all their shit.
>Legendary power and reliability.
Another legendary trait of the AK-47 is ridiculous recoil and shit MOA.
>>
>>132730765

Sure they can't invent anything.

>>
>>132730765
Armata is completely new.
Its modular design is a first for MBTs too.
SU-47 project was unique too, and so is the PAK FArt

If it ain't broken, don't fix it.
>>
>>132730548
>Rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

Exactly and (average) AR isn't going to survive wet (or cold) conditions as well as AK is. AR design lacks the tolerances for extreme temperature fluxtuion when firing the weapon in extreme cold or while wet/underwater. AK does even though firing it underwater or wet was never the intention the fact it was designed to withstand Russian winter makes it also capable of this.
>>
>>132727522

>>132727925

>>
>>132730948
You're actually retarded then. The point of a keymod is to avoid being cumbersome. Only put attachments where you need them. Meanwhile quadrails are already setup to have attachments literally everywhere adding lots of weight.

The only thing you could say that would save yourself in this would be to advocate for poly hand guards. Which is less accurate, less customization and more heat. But its lighter.

Can some /k/fag explain why countries even replace their assault rifles in 2017? Small arms design pretty much reached its peak in the 70s and since then it's just small changes like slightly lighter materials or better ergonomics. We're not talking about jet fighters here. The only reason I can think of is the weapon companies ((((lobbying)))) for the replacements.

Shit-tier American made AK failed. I have a very different experience about Finnish RKs (which I consider part of the AK family) and ARs.

>>
>>132728968
AKs may not be the best at keeping mud out bit I still trust them more than ARs in most cases.

ARs have the unfortunate habit, at least in my experience, of malfunctioning from just using them. Too much fouling and my ARs choke on extraction, my AKs have never failed me while my ARs are constant drama queens.

They're both great guns though.

you retards do know small arms are useless, right? you idiots that never fought anywhere know that artillery makes 80% of all casualties, right? you larpers know that small arms fire can be blocked with a bag filled with earth, with a tree, with a concrete wall, with almost any obstacle and you cant even shoot indirectly/shoot targets behind cover with it, right?

i still dont get sperging over small arms, as if they were any effective at killing people
if you want to actually kill people, you need artillery, faster than sound flying air craft, computers to stabilize, calculate, execute commands perfectly, satellites for navigation, chemistry and physics to develop better explosives and materials, etc

>muh small arms
pure psychological factor, next thing you are going to tell me is that boots, helmets and uniforms matter

How does the Russian military get optics mounted on dust cover rails to maintain zero? In America, civilian dust cover rails are notorious for being unreliable for optics because cover vibration will eventually cause the optic to drift, so we're stuck mounting optics the old fashioned way, with a receiver rail, or by awkward solutions like forward mounting optics with an upper hand guard rail over the gas tube, like pic related. What is your secret? I mean, the dust cover is a moveable part, but the Russian military seems fine with mounting rails on it, so either they're okay with zero drift, or they have a solution that the civilian aftermark does not.

By adding a hinge to the front of the dust cover and a locking mechanism on the rear. A lot like the zenitco B-33 railed dust cover on my SLR-106. Notice the hinges attached to the B-10M handguard.

You're the fucking idiot. This is the 21st century. It's not verdun retard. inb4 America blows everyone up anyway, but counter insurgency doesn't work by blowing up everything and everyone. We live in a time where the enemy is within the civilian population. Do you think the generals would have sent Marines into Fallujah if they could have just nuked it dummy? All those things you mentioned are great but precise operations will never be done without guys with guns. You don't capture HVTs with Intel by hitting him and a city block with a 105mm. You don't do patrols in cities with artillery. Go back to wargame or whatever shitty RTS you play before you speak on how modern militaries should conduct modern warfare.

And I know this is going to be funny coming from an American, but Serbia really shouldn't be telling anyone how to go about how to be a successful fighting force. Your military was just butchers with machine guns raping and blowing up muds 25 years ago.

Telling people about 21st century tactics. Just because your country can't afford cool shit, you use "tactics" to justify this. Go fight in Afghanistan where firefights were well over 500 meters at times and let me know if you would rather have irons instead.

>>132736896

this is the reason 99% of your troops never saw any combat while all got ptsd

optics are the reason your army paraded in heels and our armies never wore heels
im telling you man
optics, dildos, and all other such crap, have no place on small arms
optics are the reason you killed less nazis than monte fucking negro

Nice job on the top cover modification - would love to see one up close. Looks like the rear catch may be a completely new design.

I have converted all of my AKs and all of my friends AKs, VEPRs etyc. to the AR collapsible style stock. Not only does it allow the user to obtain an optimal length, but a cheaply adjustable cheek weld and usually moves the stock more inline with the barrel

Nice rifle - Hope we will be allowed to get one from those evil Russians ;)

Reminder that the designers of the Galil had to put a grip/bottle opener on the gun because the israelis army grunts were fucking up their mags.
Reminder that the Desert Eagle was sold to the israelis because they needed a weapon for the crews of their tanks, at least they quickly replaced it.

I'm not talking about combat anon, it's about training. How many stories do we have of soldiers shooting less than 20 rounds per year because of restrictions? It's even the same shit in the police. For example, the flashball, it's mandatory to pass an exam each year for you to be able to use it during interventions, they shoot 3 live slugs and 2 dulls if you already passed it, and 7-8 lives if you're new with the weapon. If they had.
Police officiers probably shoot more in 6-7 months during school than in 10 years of training when they're active, that's a shame.
The problem don't stand with them, I'm sure some are willing to train more, so they go out to the range when they have the time, but they shouldn't have to do that. If we want a professionnal army, give it all the means you'd expect them to have and need.
Also because we're on the subject, what do you think about the FELIN?
