Only chance you're doing anything is point blank in the skull if it rattles around.
>>
>>128696201
Honestly almost anything but that. Don't get me wrong, the classic Desert Eagle is cool, but it's among the least practical guns you can own. Especially if you aren't experienced with handguns. You very likely will not enjoy it and therefore will not shoot it and become proficient.

If it's your first, I like 9mm personally. Cheap to shoot so you can practice more or less regardless of budget, easy to shoot so it won't stress you out while learning and you are spoiled for choice on weapons. I am partial to CZ pistols, but there is nothing wrong with a Glock or something like it. HK makes some great guns if you have the money (sounds like you do if you are serious about the DE) and I'm surprised how much I like my Walther PPS and have really thought about getting one of their full size guns. Go pick a bunch up at a store and narrow down what you might be interested in, nothing more fun than gun shopping.
>>
>>128696201

It's a novelty gun that's useless in every situation. It's expensive, the bullets aren't cheap, it's prone to jamming and the recoil is ridiculous. Get a glock 19

The Px4 is a nice double action if you're in the mood for classic hammer with a bit of modern appeal. If you are looking for a no nonsense straight forward gun glawk fawty is truly a efficient problem solver. Complete lack of safety means idiots blow off their knees though so ask yourself honestly if you feel you can holster and draw safely.

>bullshits about pistols he has never shot

First, recoil is a factor of speed of the bullet and mass of the bullet. A 9mm will not kick less than a 45 cal without a significant increase in fps.

Second, the military chose 9mm berettas as their standard shell because it has a large magazine, low recoil, and gets rounds on target quickly.

Yes .45 have more stopping power, but I will take rounds in the mag and less recoil over a .45 cal.

Btw, Glocks are gay. Gen 4 shell casings fly right in your face half the time.

That's why police and military carry 9mm sidearms. It's a safe bet if police and military have been using it then it must be somewhat effective.

It doesn't kick less it kicks differently. 9mm is harsher because of the higher pressure, 45 is heavier because of the bullet weight.
And wear safety glasses or ask a gunsmith to tune the ejector you retard.

>>128698321
You have absolutely no idea what you're talking about. Recoil is determined by a slew of things. My c75b has virtually no recoil, and the same is true of my emperor scorpion, a 1911 chambered in .45. There is virtually no recoil when shooting almost any common handgun chambered in .45 so long as it isn't a subcompact. The recoil spring, slide, and overall mass of the firearm absorb a significant amount of recoil, which is why heavier firearms recoil less than light ones. Most handguns chambered in .45 are rather heavy, which aids in recoil absorption.

What if you don't live in an African desert and roll around in the mud and sand every day?

Glock doesn't have a safety. I wouldn't carry a loaded gun chambered without a safety and I wouldn't carry a gun around unchambered for self defense.

M&P is a fine gun.
>>
>>128698705

You are a dip shit. Do you really think the couple of ounce difference between a 45 and 9mm make any difference? Most of the weight of a gun is in the magazine anyway, which in a 15 round 9mm is much higher. Perhaps what you are saying makes sense if you compare a pistol to a rifle, but otherwise you are a know nothing fag.

You obviously have never owned a pistol, nor shot one.

I don't particularly like glocks either, they're just the most sold handguns here with the easiest parts to find. When the other brands go for twice the price the choice is easy to make. Seeing how CZ magazines are up to 60€ and very hard to find, it kills my interest.

>>128699494
I wouldn't carry a gun with a safety if you realize most dangerous encounters end in less than 5 seconds. With a Kydex holster you're never going to have a ND.

The M&P is fine maybe, but nowhere near Glocks for now. They can still improve with the new generations.

If you're worried about picking the wrong caliber or size why not get something that can easily swap from 9mm to 40 or 357 sig or full sized to compact or semicompact? The army is in the process of moving to it, and I even swapped my p226 9mm for pic related. I fucking love shooting the P320, it's the best of both Sig ergos and Glock DAO light trigger pull (5.5 pounds on this) combined into a comfortable and accurate gun.

What I really like about this over my old p226 is the tactile feel and loud click when seating a magazine, you always know when it's ready to hit that slide release on a reload.

Yes. It's S&W's AR-15.

this. jelly of the stainless

A 75b in black costs a little less than a Glock or Beretta and is way better.

there you go, OP

Its pointless to argue which manufacturer is the best as people will always disagree because of their brand loyalty/bias.

And here is what I traded straight up for it. When I got my first hand gun I tried a bunch at my local range (which luckily offers one flat price for rentals with unlimited swapping amongst their fleet) and although I was most accurate with a Glock I fell in love with the feel of a Sig (also tried M&P 9/40, Springfield XD, 1911, etc). I had about 7000 rounds through this one so the flat out trade for Sigs newer and better thing seemed like a good deal, and sure enough my groups are getting closer to what I was capable of doing with a G17.

Accept no substitutes.
Aimo Lahti, the Thomas Edison of Finnish gun engineers, designed a 109-pound semi-automatic rifle around the largest 20mm shell then in existence. Using the Swiss 20×138mmB Solothurn Long cartridge, the gun was readily capable of piercing 20mm of armor at 100-meters and 16mm out to 500m with enough pop to put most of the Soviet tanks of the era on the menu.

Can't release slide with my girly hands, have to rack it to change magazine.
People say it breaks in and I'm only 300 rounds of 45 acp in but it still doesn't go away.

Why?

All slide releases work like shit at first. Sometimes you have to file them.
They want to be sure they catch the slide when new so they over do the slide locking.

FUcking kek don't buy this anon. It's a shite meme round.

To everyone in this thread: go to a shooting range that rents guns, take a beginner class, and see what you do well with. Most people will agree do not go lower than 9mm, unless you are a very small female and cannot handle it (even medium sized girls can shoot 9mm, if you can't just get quality .380 or 38spl).

Here is one of the best ammo comparisons ever done:
http://www.luckygunner.com/labs/self-defense-ammo-ballistic-tests/
The TLDR;
> few .380 rounds are acceptable
>most 9mm and .40 are good
>virtually all .45 work well
>the very best 9mm is almost as good as a good .45, and typically most people can carry more of it or shoot it better, hence 9mm recommendation

But anon what gun?

Don't fuck around just buy one that *works*.
>glock 19
>mp shield
>sig 938
>you get the idea

But anon I'm poor as fuck
>ask your local nigger for a glock 40 (also known as a hi point) and load FMJ to ensure penetration
>>
>>128696201

With hollow point ammunition wound pattern differences are so minor they are not a factor. Therefore calibur of handgun is less important, and the recoil is. 9mm is an excellent bullet with little recoil. Use hollow point only for defense.
A glock 19 or variant should work fine.

I know what you're thinking: "Did he fire six shots or only five?" Well, to tell you the truth, in all this excitement, I've kinda lost track myself. But being this is a .44 Magnum, the most powerful handgun in the world, and would blow your head clean off, you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well, do ya, punk?

for a handgun get a Tokarev TT33. the 7.62x25 is flat shooting as has a lot of stopping power. only problem is the ammo is a tad pricey.
