I'm thankful, but "chance"/luck is probably the wrong way to look at it. I was born in the West beacuse my parents had me here. The fact that I am white is also due to my parents' decisions, circumstances, and genetics. Of course, my parents' choices, circumstance, and biology were greatly affected by *their* parents' choices, circumstances, and biology, etc. One the one hand, you could look at this chain as the result of luck, but on the other hand, you could look at this chain as the exact opposite of luck, i.e. human choice influenced by the natural world and God.
