Politics is becoming more and more partisan and radicalized. The overton window isn't just shifting toward the extreme right, it's stretching and encompassing the fringes of the right and left. Right now the situation in our country is like a large zit - we can either let it pop to get it over with quickly but violently and leaving a lasting scar, or we can try and apply the salve that is conservatism to it, letting it take longer to heal but less damaging in the long run.
