These are all cute. I like the yellow one the most. The drink in the peach colored one gets lost in the background unfortunately. I also think it would've been nicer to see a better variety of drinks, thus allowing you to be more creative with color (although I understand if you had limited materials). I think the borders are a little much, but thats really just personal taste. I could definitely see these on tumblr or on those cheesy minimal magazines on instagram.

I posted a prior version of this, and someone mentioned the color composition sucked.
I increased the orange, yellow and red to draw out differences in the parsnips and carrots and onions, as well as draw out those pieces of the steak and the pan sauce.
There's a weird violet and blue tinge from the room reflecting in the steak, but I don't think those colors are affecting anything in a weird way.
How far from passing grade is this as far as color composition goes?

The lighting is really fairly simple. I used two lights, both with ~30in shoot through umbrellas. Key light is camera right, above and pointed down to avoid creating reflections. There is a fill light off to camera left, just below the table level pointing slightly up. Basically just play around with power and placement till you get the desired lighting. The backdrop is literally a piece of colored posterboard, curved up just like a roll of seamless paper.

I cant tell if that is a small drip of lava or a large pool from high overhead. Agree with the other anon on lack of interesting point, cool textures and you should have used a different perspective. Perhaps try a tilt/shift effect to make the uneven cooled lava to look like hills?

How do I get that pastell look in my images?
I know that it has to do with raising the blacklevel.
I currently try to use color contrast of one set and then desaturating it again, and it seems right but I just can't hit that sweet creamy color spectrum!
