I hate myself for starting this thread, but need some advice. I need a wide to normal zoom. Canon fag, have tok 11-16, 70-200f4, 18-55kit lens, 100l. Had a 17-85 that I absolutely hated, so I sold it. I'm need of something to replace this and the 18-55, as that feels cheap and horrible.

Don't care about brand. Constant aperture very much preferred, internal focus preferred, internal zoom would be great but unlikely. Obviously good image quality is necessary.

I am using this older version of Tamron 17-50/2.8 and I like it. http://www.photozone.de/canon-eos/289-tamron-af-17-50mm-f28-sp-xr-di-ii-ld-aspherical-if-canon-test-report--review
New version seems to have much worse optical quality.

Either Canon 15-85mm, which is a great lens, or
>Constant aperture very much preferred
Canon 16-35 f4 is/ f2.8
Sigma 18-35 f1.8

Assuming you're on a crop, I would recommend the Sigma 18-50mm 2.8

I had one for several years. It was great!

Well I shoot 5d2, not sure if you're on ff or crop. Just bought a 17-40 and 70-200. Alongside my 40 which honestly is still gonna be the sharpest I have. But those are gonna be for versatility. I'm off on a road trip down south, which is pretty mountainous and I'm pretty sure I'll have the 17-40 on majority of the time anyway.

17-40 is good. If you're on crop it makes a decent kit lens, on ff makes a really good UWA. So consider that.
