Cant have a safe to keep guns in due to accomodation arrangements so ive been running this crossbow for a while. Takes rabbits if youre accurate enough which is all I shoot at in this predator free country. Ill build a rifle when I get into a more long term living arrangement.

The easiest to build are AR's, "build" being a generous term. Putting together an AR is a lot like building a Lego set. Check out YouTube, there's plenty of videos about it.

I have a crescent firearms 410 (pic very closely related) that I take with me into my woods when Im hiking/ wandering. Birdshot for birds and rabbits, sabot for all the other critters. It was my very first gun, and though I've got some bigger ones now none will ever be as comfy as this one

How's middle school?

I carry a mosin 91/30, my only firearm. Thinking about upgrading. Feels silly, it's heavy and like 4 feet long.

I'd like something cheap that I don't mind getting beat up. Thinking about picking up a mosin carbine since i can get one for 225-275.

I'd really like an SKS but when I think about what I get for 400-500, it starts making more sense to look at an AR or AK. On the other hand, SKS prices are only gonna go up, and faster than newly manufactured rifles.

This would be for carrying around innadesert/larping and taking pot shots at rabbits and other non-game animals. Thinking about scoping my mosin and turning it into a deer/pig gun, so it'd be nice to have something even less delicate to toss around on camping trips.

NEF Hand Rifles are great knock around/pack rifles. The couple I've shot were very accurate (.233 and .45-70). Get the one with iron sights. You can add a scope/mount and offset hammer extension later.

Could do a lot worse, 30-06 is a legendary round and it's more handy then the others are claiming, especially for something that shoots a full caliber. The only issue I'd have with it is the lack of a scope.

I carry a .22 pellet gun like this when I'm out and not specifically hunting or anything, tons of fun for plinking, cheap to shoot, dead quiet with a muzzle brake.

It is a rifle, and it does work. But it's also finicky about ammo (regularly shooting full-strength 30-06 will break parts), heavy, quite expensive and a BITCH to clean.
Your standard run-of-the-mill bolt action rifle in 30-06 from any one of dozens of makers will be lighter, more user-friendly, more reliable for hunting purposes and more accurate than a Garand is, all at half the cost or less.
Plus, putting a scope onto a modern rifle is cheap, easy and you won't have autists at every gun store and range cursing you for ruining the fun Grandpa used to fight th Japs all the way to Okinawa.

I've got one with the original stock still intact. Slick bolt, loved it.

But given that:

a) I don't reload
b) 303 is just as expensive as the other 30 cals I have
c) 303 is getting harder to find (even some CT stores are out)
D) my other rifles are more accurate
e) my other rifles are lighter, and i find them quicker to get on target


I'll probably sell it.
