Still looking for good stuff for the Pastebin and Imgur. Maybe we can get a list of Youtube vids and put them in the Pastebin or keep a couple important ones in the OP.

I'm keep thinking of getting a CDL just for shits & giggles in case my current cushy job ever disappears. My company is turning into a suck-fest where the upper management has no clue and is killing the company. It's sad. Been there almost 20 years and love my job and clients.
>>
>>967551
I mean a lot of schools are flexible with the hours so you can still get the Class A while working your 9-5 job. It's never a bad thing to have, but the industry is kinda fucked up. It's like so many other blue collar jobs where you used to be able to live comfortably on the salary but now you can barely afford rent. And too many retarded people trying to get into it so big companies would rather hire, train, and lose 20 guys while paying them $35k/yr instead of keeping one good guy around for 20 years and paying him $60k. Plus if you get your Class A and don't have experience, you either have to do OTR (over the road) and get like 2 days home a month or you can try to get a local gig like mine where you have to bust your ass with physical labor.

>>967547
I thought about it.

fun fact. $33k in 2017 is essentially the equialent in 1984 $ as what I made as a kitchen slave.

>This is a legit tactic to protect your secret spot. It doesn't matter who owns the land. No one ever takes the signs down if you put them up, but other fishermen usually stop at the signs.

What about people that actually own the property? Most of the spots id like to fish are actually on private property, figure that out from tax/property maps.

I have no idea what the laws are about when it comes to soley on the water however. Like not ever setting foot on the land.

Another odd question is what is considered their land if they dont own the body of water? If it floods over? if it's shallow from drought?

>>
>>967559
i think that unless the own all of the land around the water they do not own the water, nobody can own rivers. so if the water is higher they have less land that year. if its public water and you dont step foot on land you're not tresspassing. i know some places you get a certain amount of feet from the waterline that is public as well

That's what I do. Most say yes. Some with some things like "catch and release only" or "give us half your catch" etc. People rarely say no.

I have seen those in bait shops a bunch. I guess they're nice and easy because they are all rigged up with a wire leader. Should solve the problem of them falling off so easily. That company sells squid and stuff too I think.

Not making assumptions about your opinion on live bait, but that raises a question.
Are people against live bait?
>>
>>967710
>Are people against live bait?

Only people who have buyer's remorse.
>>
>>967710
I just see a divide. I categorize people around where I live as either bass fishermen or freshwater fishermen. The bass fishermen are more sporty about it and would rather catch a fish by working a lure, while freshwater fishermen will target catfish, crappie, carp etc and are more likely to use live bait. And obviously people that do everything. But bass fishermen are usually wealthy suburban types while freshwater guys are rednecks or Mexicans, but I'm stereotyping. Either way, there are just times where bass will crush minnows all day but aren't going to touch a hard plastic lure no matter which one you throw. So you can't get mad at the redneck casual fisherman just because he decides to use a more practical method of fishing.
>>
>>967714
live bait is expensive as fuck But it works
>>
>>967710
I think it's more that it really doesn't take much skill to use live bait, compared to lures.

Use circle hooks to prevent that.

>warm water and sand
the warmer waters makes the skin on your feet soft. sand gets in between. ever spent a day in the surf walking a few miles up and down a beach dragging fish up the sand you'll realize why afterwards. sand will chafe your feet to the point that you cant even walk at the end of the day. the socks prevent that from happening. the better socks also have thin neoprene bottoms to pad from pebbles.

location, location, location
The boat would make it viable as you would have no rent other than your mooring. You can travel to where the bite is on. Expense of the boat itself, maintenance and any licensing fees.

One of those shacks in a prime location is going to run a lot of $$$. Most bait shops around here are at least 1/2-1 mile from the water.

>Is there any reason to use anything else besides the standard black & white?

It really depends on water clarity, match-the-hatch, and what you are actually attaching to it.

Color
Complexity
Contrast
Profile
Movement

>>968216
>But why not just use regular socks?

It really depends on the sock type and environment you are getting your feet wet. Sand chafes madly. Any socks will be better than no socks. Socks that keep sand out are best. Socks are intended to take on the slippage of the footwear on the outside of the sock and stick to your skin without moving across the skin. Any sock movement across your skin can result in a blister.

Normal, everyday socks react differently when they are wet. Some tighten up in places and loosen in others. A loose section will slip across the skin as you walk and start a blister. Socks designed for underwater use and waterproof socks are normally made form materials that do not loosen up while wet.

Anybody got advice on a jig pitching rod for panfish?

I have a fenwick eagle I will use for heavier jigs, spinners, and cranks.

Ordered a 5'5" b&m ultralight but I plan to keep that set up for a slip bobber rig.

Basically looking for something to cast around 1/32 oz jigs for bluegill mainly. I've been looking at the st croix panfish series in 6'9" but I'd have to save up a bit more for it.

is this combo seem alright for beach/surf fishing?

http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/products/daiwa-crossfire-surf-rods.html
http://www.fishingtackleshop.com.au/products/50-off-abu-garcia-cardinal-bt4050-bait-teaser-reel.html

I was going for the heavy action rod because it seems better for casting and can put more weight (if what I read is correct with action and the rod rating on website).
The reel one of cheapest on the site, I read pastebin saying get 5000 reel, that one says 'size 50' but also 4050, but then I read size 50 is same as size 5000? Other combos I see for 12ft use a 6500 reel too
Should get bigger size reel or that size 50 one be fine?

Is size mainly just for running heavier line?

both cheapest I could see, just looking for cheap to buy to try it out.

With sinker/cast weight size too, most the rods say recommend 20-80g cast weight but I see lots of people use 100-140g sinkers for surf fishing

I don't hate it, I simply prefer lure. Live bait does make thing easier in many situation even it's more boring.

Lure is simply for fun and interactive. Live bait is good but there's a lot of logistic that keeps me from using them on a casual fishing trip.

It's a pain to acquire and maintain. If you buy them, then you need to keep a tank to keep them alive

If you use dead bait, they will spoil less than one hour in the sun so you need a cooler.

It's not great if you shore fish and have drag all that shit with you while moving spot to spot.

Worm is easiest one to find/buy and keep.

The only live bait is sand crab because live bais are only things that can catch corbina in the surf most of the time. Fly fishing works sometimes but I don't get there yet.

Even when they are pretty resilent and easy to store and relatively easy to catch, it's still hassle. I would need something to dig the sand. Hand digging is possible and it takes too long to gather enough of the perfect size for fishing, especially when they big ones can dig much much faster and deeper than the 100x numerous baby ones.

You take an otc pain killer after drinking a bunch before bed? You're a retard. You're liver must be fucked.

Why does everyone here hate furries? You have 10 seconds to prove why being a furry is wrong.

Also Ned rigs are dumb meme lures that only catch dinks just like all other shitty z man lures

Yeah was gonna say liquor normally isn't so bad. Especially clear stuff like rum or vodka. But beer fucking kills me the next morning.

>>969553
Ehh, I think Tylenol is the one that does work on the liver.
>>
>>969573
No. All of them have the liver warning with alcohol. Ibuprofen, acetominophen, 2-acetoxybenzoic acid, etc etc etc. Those are the chemical names of the common pain killers. That's what the box is listed as if it's not the brand name like Tylenol or alleve.

Dusty bones? That's you're insult? Really?

Pretty stupid. This state has a great trout fishery and holds fish you can't catch anywhere else like the pike minnow. We even have walleye.

Yeah you should be worried. A mild dose of otc pain killer while your actively drunk can shut your liver down.

The only thing worse you could do is take Xanax.

theyre dd striper baits to me.
>>
>>969824
The only place I know of where they do that is on the Columbia river in WA/OR because they eat salmon parr. And the only reason they are a problem is because the river doesn't flow fast enough anymore so the salmon take longer and spend more energy going from where they hatch to the ocean, so they are getting eaten at an unnatural rate. Otherwise the pikeminnow would be a harmless native fish.

>a dozen hours later we arrive at the largest body of water I've ever seen in my life
>go out on a ship with about 100 other people

>decide not to fish because I can't fathom how my dinky tiny rod would ever stand up to what ever the fuck is in that massive water
>parents dumbstruck

On the up side it was the right choice. Tons of other children lost their poles that day, though most just snapped the lines all the time. I think only 3 children actually caught some baitfish. I think if I had the knowledge then that I have today, I'd have used a handline.

How deep is the water you are going to be in? I usually just go anywhere from 1-10th to 1-5th ounce.

For colors just match the color of the bottom where you are fishing. If the water is dirty, pick a dark color

A friend of mine keep telling me about the time they had to remove a guy's penis from a glass bottle and had to fly in a special machine that was SPECIALLY DESIGNED TO REMOVE PENISES FROM GLASS BOTTLES. Evidently it happens a lot.

My sister works hospice too. She won't shut the fuck up.

That place is fun to catch a bunch of dink rockfish and perch but the coast guard will yell at you if you stand on the wall. It kinda ruins it for me having to fish over a fence when I could be having such an easier time.
