I really enjoy smoking a pipe, especially while /out/. I have a Stanwell Danske Club 51.

Currently Granger is my go to, same tobacco my great grandpa smoked. I have like 4 tins of Ashton I just got because I want to see if it is as good as it smells, which it's probably not. I also just ordered a pouch of 5 Brothers and a 2oz tin of GLP Quiet Nights both of which im excited to try

Anyways, I just picked up some bulk Butternut Burley and Vanilla Custard to blend. Also bought a new D Grabow Duke because they were on sale for $20.
>>
Just got this for my /out/ings. Cheap, durable, weatherproof and can be cleaned with soap and water.
The only knocks on them are that they get hot when you smoke them too fast. And once they do get hot, they don't cool down very well.

Do some research. It is extremely hard to become "addicted" to pipe smoking. It's not something that you smoke 10 times a day and if you don't have it you get nicotine withdrawls from.

>It is extremely hard to become "addicted" to pipe smoking
thats what people thought about heroin at first. no really, do look it up, it was marketed by Bayer as a non-addictive cough med / morphine substitute.

and if you seriously think you can consume nicotine without getting addicted to it, then you, my friend, are a retard. (or a shill for the tobacco industry)
>>
>>903928
>pipe tobacco is more addictive than heroin
Gave a a good kek. Pipe tobacco is extremely hard to become addicted to because you don't inhale the smoke. It's the same for cigars. Tell me. How many people do you see smoking 20 cigars a day? The average cigarette user smokes a pack a day. The average pipe/cigar user smokes one every 2 days.

Take someone that smokes cigarettes and don't allow him any nicotine for 3 days. He will be going through extreme withdrawl. I have seen this from family members firsthand. If I weren't allowed to have nicotine for 3 days I would call that my average weekday. I don't even think of my pipe or smoking until the weekend when I go do /out/ shit.
>>
I smoke cigars out of a pipe, I find it easier, insert cigar, cut flush with the top of the pipe.

Pipe of the night

Orange "The Pipe" filled with Paladin

The pipe is pretty good with a good draw and didn't get too hot.
The tobacco was slightly wet out of the pouch, and was probably packed a bit too tight, making for a vague flavor that didn't stay lit quite all the way down. Need a little more time to figure this one out.

Distinction: if you're just starting out, relighting a dozen or more times with a Bic is a LOT less discouraging than doing so with matches. Mostly because you won't see half a box of charred matches piling up in your ashtray, whereas the Bic will look just the same as it did.

Besides, if you know what you're doing, the butane doesn't effect the taste THAT much. After the first 5 seconds the aftertaste is gone and you can't taste anything other than tobacco-it's all evaporated away.

Does anyone use hempwick in place of lighters or matches?
>>

Never saw the need.
Matches are 250 for less than $1 and available at walmart.
Lighters are $1.50 or less per at any convenience store in the world.
>>
>>917140
Hippies like it for weeds because it is more natural than the butane lighter they use to light the wick.

Never smoke weed with somebody who uses the wick. Even if you are totally sober, haven't smoked all day, and are fiending and tryna get high. It just isn't worth it. Those people are insufferable. Being high around somebody who uses hemp wick is worse than being sober.

I'd rather be sober for the simple reason that I wouldn't be around them.
>>
>>917289

People use hemp wick because it burns at a lower temperate than butane and because it's a little more convenient than using matches. It's not useless just because a few idiots don't know how money/nature works
>>
>>917798
Who the fuck uses matches to smoke weed? And every time I have seen somebody use the hemp wick, they use a Bic to light the wick, light the bowl with the wick, put the wick out, then do the same shit next puff they take on the pipe. Completely retarded.
>>
>>917854
Did you read what I wrote? Of course lighters are more convenient. People use hemp wick because butane burns like 10x hotter than what you need to ignite weed. And did I say anyone uses matches?

Implies that some, if not many people still use matches. And it really isn't more convenient than matches. You need another source of fire to start the wick while you just strike a match. And I will never put down my Bic!

>>918048
Just use a Bic and piss him off. Watch him go on some rant that you ruined the weed by lighting it with a Bic. Plus butane doesn't smell or taste like anything, that's why they use it in lighters. Start using a Zippo and enjoy that lighter fluid taste and get back to me with how much the butane changes the taste.

Or just smoke a damn blunt.

Problem with making your own cob pipe isn't the method, but the materials.

Most modern varieties of corn have been bred (or genetically engineered, whichever you prefer) to have much smaller diameter cobs than older varieties from 50 years ago. While this makes for corn that matures faster and doesn't need as much fertilizer, it also makes for cobs that are too small for pipes. By the time you get walls thick enough to hold an ember without burning through, you either won't have a hole wide enough to fit our finger into, and/or it's not deep enough to fit more than a small amount of tobacco without having a bowl bottom that will burn out in the first few times you smoke it. To make a very good corncob pipe, you need a corn strain with oversized cobs, an Missouri Meerschaum developed for their own pipes.
Also, corn cobs are naturally very wet. Missouri Meerschaum dries their cobs for 3 years before making them into pipes. I'm not saying your own cob pipe has to be dried out that long, but some drying time IS necessary to make it useful, and it's not a small amount of time.
Probably a better material to use, especially given your location, is some sort of fruit wood like pear or cherry. Both have long histories of use in pipes, are inexpensive, and are easy to work.
>>
>>918787
>>916530
>>916445
>>916141

Although a "proper" corn cob pipe is probably best made with purpose grown corncobs like Missouri meerschaum makes (and they make VERY good pipes), ive made my own corn cob pipes from store bought corn before. I dried them in an oven on low for 12hrs or so, and used dried stems from an unidentified weed I found growing in the empty lot behind my place as the pipe stem. They would probably only last a dozen smokes or so and are nowhere near as nice as a proper corn cob pipe, but I feel like you are missing the essence of the corn cob pipe if you believe that you cant make one from scratch. They are inherently disposable objects, and the corn cob pipe idea probably began as an improvised solution in the first place. They are also fun to make, because you can make goofy long church warden style stems for them. Buy some corn, scout for some plant material to fashion into a stem, and make it up as you go along.

I like hemp wick because when I light up a bowl I don't taste butane from the lighter, I only taste the weed. No, it's not more convinient than just using a lighter, but it tastes much better imo.

Idk why you have such a stick up your ass about people who use hemp wick, it's just a simple way to make smoking weed more enjoyable.

Oh it's addictive, don't get us wrong.
We're not that stupid or that much in denial.

It's just not nearly AS addictive as smoking cigarettes is, because the tobacco smoke is not inhaled. There's simply nowhere near the amount of surface area in the mouth and/or nose vs the lungs to facilitate the near-instant and massive nicotine absorption that you see in cigarette smoking. Thus the addiction is not nearly as severe.
I just had my first pipe bowl in over two weeks-I had to put it down for a while due to moving, working and traveling for the holidays. If I had been smoking cigarettes I never could have done that-I'd be craving like mad after the first day.
>>
>>922400

>>
>>923493
Oh you can still feel the effects when you smoke.
You just don't feel like killing people when you can't for whatever reason.

Go onto eBay and look at used pipes.
Seriously.
People are selling off their collections and you can get some wonderful pipes for about $10 or even less.
Pic related is a French-made GBD Sauvage series bulldog and probably the very best smoking pipe I own. I got it for $12, all in. I also have two Webco (off brand) pipes that smoke fabulously-they were thrown in with a pipe stand I bought for $10. So even now good deals on smoking pipes abound.
You won't find a Dunhill or Peterson pipe at those prices because everyone knows those brands and they're collectible. Still, there are literally hundreds of other brands (and unbranded "seconds") out there that were very well-made but don't have the name recognition of the big brands.
As with all good-smoking used pipes, expect them to be plugged with goop more often than not. A bottle of 91% isopropyl alcohol, a roll of paper towels and 2 packs of regular pipe cleaners is $10 very well spent if you're going to be buying used pipes.

I ordered an e-pipe not long ago. Looking forward to using it.

Has your pipe arrived yet?
If so, how is it?
