Why are you all shitposting instead of listening to your annoying aunt talk about how successful your cousin is? At least go find the drunk crazy uncle who will tell you stories about that time he had to run from the cops after stealing a tombstone on acid and putting it in another cemetary.

I'm so happy I moved across the country from those cunts.

>tfw saltfags are the Hillary supporters of fishing
Freshwater fisherman are out there just enjoying themselves and salty fags come in and talk about how the others are wrong and racist just because they want peace and don't enjoy being surrounded by poaching Mexicans and Vietcong while they are trying to relax on a Sunday morning.

Still waiting for help with the beginner guides on the Pastebin. I put a little saltwater one in there, but I want to do a river one possibly and trout.

Not me.

I wouldn't mind saltwater one bit if I could be alone and actually catch stuff on lures. If it were like that, I would prefer it.

But that's not how it goes. It's watching bait soak for a few hours with baitfish nipping at it and having minorities cast across your line. Fuck that.

NJ noob here, id fish saltwater one day, but im in the same boat as pepsi.. heh

Freshwater feels more /out/ since the shoreline here is mostly the opposite of innawoods.

It's not about the size+fight you have with fish but the experience. So what im trying to say is that freshwater tends to have a better atmosphere than saltwater.

Once I get educated about salt fishing Ill probably spend a day there- just my dad is a freshwater guy.

Winter is a good season for saltwater right?
>>

I'm looking to get into bass fishing. Mostly jigs/jigheads with plastics, jigging/flutter spoons, texas rig worms, etc. Will likely be using 1/2 to 1 oz lures in the river here.

Which of these rods would be best?

>Rod Options
Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Casting Rod 7' Med Hvy
Abu Garcia Veritas 2.0 Micro Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy
Cashion CRT Cast Rod 7' Heavy Worm & Jig
Lew's American Hero Speed Stick Cast Rod 7' Med Hvy

Also, does it matter what type of reel I get? Is there a preferred gear ratio for this type of fishing? Should I get a reel that's recommended line weight matches the rod?
>>
>>899451
And they post an assortment of other random 12" fish. Aside from Skid who posts the one pic of a shark over and over. There is occaisionally a pic of a Pompano or a schoolie striper when they are in season, but nothing that makes me want to deal with the people at all the shore fishing spots.

There's no such "how to saltwater" guide. It would be like writing a "how to freshwater" guide. Absolutely pointless. Catching Largemouth Bass is entirely different from catching King Salmon or Flathead Catfish.

What exactly do you want to catch? Bluefish? Flounder? Grouper? Shark? Sea Bass?
>>
>>899453
If you can get the Veritas with the micro guides on sale at Dick's then I would grab that. They have been like 25% off for a long time. You gotta play with them a bit too because a M with really fast action might feel like some MH rods without the extra weight.

And most memecasters won't even really have a line weight. They assume you are going to use them for bass fishing. Just make sure you look at the drag ratings and stuff.

Saltwater fishing is only fun if you have a boat or kayak to get out in the water. Fishing from the surf or a pier is annoying as fuck when you constantly have little kids running around you touching and kicking your fish, or dirty fags on piers chain smoking and constantly talking to you with their nasty breath and half of their teeth missing.

I enjoy saltwater more than bass fishing or catfish, but surf/pier fishing isn't really the proper saltwater experience.

I'm thinking of selling my bass boat to buy a deep v so I can fish in bigger bodies of water like the bay and big rivers off the shore. If you enjoy bass fishing then sea bass is like pure cocaine.
>>

They might be decent. Idk who makes them, but I have heard the Bass Pro baitcasters are made by Abu and they get a lot of great reviews for their price range.

>>899461
Wut, the M rods? How often are you going to be casting 1oz jigs? I rarely do. And with Texas Rigs, going above 1/2oz kills the action so I'm normally casting ~1/4oz weights.

But that's when you should be thinking about a second setup. The rod that will huck a 1/4oz or 3/16oz lure won't be the best for a 1oz jig and that goes the other way too.

>>
>>899489
The problem is that having fun saltwater fishing involves a kayak or boat, and 99% of people here own neither, so a guide would be pointless. You can write a guide on surf/pier fishing, but as it's already been stated that is nothing but chucking bait out on a big hook and sitting.

Going out on a kayak catching some big sea bass or bluefish on lures is more fun.
>>
Can somebody write a guide on best rod, reel, and line combos for different types of bass lures and scenarios? Bass fishing has more broscience than /fit/ and every other blog article says different.
>>
>>899493
Hardbaits=medium rod with 5-6 ratio reel
Jigs, soft plastics, top water=medium heavy-heavy rod with a 6.5-8 ratio reel.

A lot of people always want definitive advice on what will work but in reality every body of water is different and it's up to you to learn and understand what will work well through trial and error.
>>
>>899493
Just get a crank rod, a jig rod, and a top water rod along with one medium spinning rod with light fluorocarbon for drop shots. That's all you need to kill with because the spinning rod works for light plastics and wacky rigged senko style baits. The jig rod can be used for spinner baits too.

Maybe get one high fast retrieve gear ratio reel and one slower one at least to vary retrieve speed.

Get a higher gear ratio for topwater. You want to pull them in quick out of the grass and Lilly pads.

1st rod should be a 6 to something gear ratio bait cast reel and a medium heavy rod for jigs and plastics and chatterbaits and spinnerbaits. You can use that all year. Next is the spinning rod and then the crank rod and topwater rod because the first rod can do both those things okay enough that you won't be pissed off.
>>
>>899492
>but as it's already been stated that is nothing but chucking bait out on a big hook and sitting.

This meme needs to die. The majority of my pier fishing catches are on lures, the trick is to go at dawn and dusk (incoming, outgoing tides) unless you want blues because they come in and out at random times. Baitsoaking is only if you want to spend the day there sitting.

>bluefish - gotcha plugs, diamond jigs, spoons, x-raps
>jack crevalle - gotcha plugs, diamond jigs, spoons, x-raps
>snook (only if far away from structure) - spoolteks, flair hawks, x-raps, plastics
>pompano - doc's goofy jigs in yellow and pink, gotcha plugs
>spanish mackerels - gotcha plugs, small spoons, white crappie jigs, rat-l-traps, gulfstream flash minnows
>>
>>899493
Man so much of it is preference, and beyond that it is a combination of different things. Even with the same lure, you might want different rods or different line to give the lure a different presentation.

So basically know what the rod weight and action feels like. Then know the difference between lines like how flouro sinks while braid floats and mono stretches more than braid. Then figure out if you are going to be ripping the bass out of weeds or if there are sharp obstacles on the bottom.

I mean honestly a 6'6" M rod with fast action and 10lb mono will work with basically everything you would want to use for bass fishing but it won't be the strongest when ripping through lillies and it won't get spinners down quite as deep as flouro and it might flex a little more than you want with 1oz jigs but it will work great with 1/4oz-1/2oz cranks, spinners, and soft baits.
>>
>>899493
>>899496
Honesly, I'm starting to prefer the faster ratios on reel. Next memecaster I get will be in the 7-8 range. It's easier to reel slower on a fast reel when needed than trying to retrieve fast over some weeds with a slow reel.
>>
>>899496
>>899497
>>899500

I think the problem is I have no idea what any of that means. People say jigs but there's like 50 different types of jig lures. What the fuck is a senko? Is a swimbait like the crankbaits but the fish is in different sections to make it swim realistically? Why are they called plastics when they're like rubber? What's the difference between the jigs with all the strings and just a basic jighead?
>>
>>899501

I think like 6.4:1 is the normal lower regular speed for memecasters and slightly faster for spinning setups. 5.4 or 5.7 is normal for spinning. I would be down to try an 8.1 memecaster. It would be good for the spots where I have to cast over weed beds to get to the big bass and then I just reel really fast to get the lure back over the weeds.

>>899504
I'm talking about the big football/brush jigs. Like a big jighead with a skirt, or a spinnerbait without the spinner. There are the big brush or punchin jigs that are 3/4oz plus and run on or near the bottom or 1/4oz-1/2oz swimming jigs that are meant to be used higher up in the water column. Pic related is a jig.
>>
>>899492
People regularly fly fish saltwater you know. Plus most people use plastics except for poorfags like me and minorities.

I think the problem is that most people think saltwater is fishing the ocean when in reality the flats, marshes, and bays are where the action is at.
>>
>>899519

Here's what I like
>light soft plastics (weightless or under 1/8oz or so)
A medium (or Medium Light) spinning rod with a fast action, unless I plan on fishing with very small hooks, then I'd go for a medium action. 1500-3000 size reel depending on rod length/balance)
I like braid so I'd use a 10-15lb braid or flouro under 6lbs (at the most).

>heavier soft plastics or jigs
Medium or Medium Heavy (deleting on the rod. An Abu M might be heavier than a Shimano M) with a fast action. I like using bait casters the best so I'd use one of those.

>cranks, jerks, swim baits, and spinnerbaits
I prefer a longer (7ft +) rod. M to H depending on how big the lure I'm throwing is. You really want a slower action for a cranking rod. It will help keep fish from throwing treble hooks so easily. I think it also helps the action a little bit. I'd use a bait caster, but line is really personal preference. I use 8-12lb mono.

>top water
I think it's worth it buying an actual top water rod. They really do help you walk to dog. You want a heavier rod with 30# braid or so because you'll usually fish top water over some thick stuff so you want to be able to pull the fish out of it.

I prefer a faster reel for all of these. I don't think I'll buy anything less than a 7 gear ratio for a bait caster in the future. Spinning reels are fine in the 5 range.
>>
>>899530
You act as if I don't live a couple blocks from the intercoastal.

I just prefer to go freshwater fishing where I have a 98% chance of catching something and not being bugged by anybody, and a 50% chance of catching something worthwhile,

Saltwater seems to be the exact opposite. And while I don't spend a ton of time out there, I have yet to see anybody land anything great at the pier, inlet, beach, jetties, intercoastal, etc. Even if I were getting skunked but the dudes 100' down from me were raking in snook, I might be more willing to deal with the crowds of minorities and tourists and their kids ruinning around and tripping on my gear. I would rather get skunked at the quiet dink pond than deal with that shit any day unless I was sure to land 30"+ snook, cobia, and stripers every few minutes.

You missed every opportunity you had. I told you about snook season and the mullet run but you ignored it and now you go at a time where saltwater fishing is dead for the most part.

Also, juno pier is absolutely on fire during snook season. It's not uncommon for one guy to land 4 snook in an hour.

Yes that's what I meant. But usually when I see them on YouTube, the weight is attached to the hook, not a sliding weight. Basically a senko rig but with other types of plastics.

Lel. People are awful. The holidays are one of the many reasons I'm glad I got out of IL.

For Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas my Dad's side if the family would have people over. It was already awkward because my dad was a piece of shit and would be missing half the time or the few times he did show up it would be the first time seeing him in months and was strange.

Then we had my grandma on that side who is old Irish Catholic lady and I literally had nothing to talk about with her. I would much rather here cool stories from my mom's mom, the scary old Russian lady (RIPIP). And then my one aunt and uncle and their kids, they are unbearable. The one cousin, he's a year older than me and has super ADHD and everybody thinks he is Mr. Olympian on his bicycle but he actually isn't that bad. And then the girl who is my age is just a looser and isn't even smart or good at anything to back up the nerdiness. So that aunt is the one who always has to be talking about how great the kids are and how Danny is going to be in the Rio Olympics (which he isn't good enough for) and how Katie is doing whatever unimportant and unimpressive thing (she did just marry this fat bald dude a couple yrs ago who looks way older).

I guess besides that aunt and trying to have the spotlight on her kids' mediocrity is the worst and the rest aren't so bad. I just can't stand the small talk. Especially towards the end of HS it was awful because that one aunt was bragging about how her kids had this grand plan of attending community college and then transferring somewhere since they had their perfect lives all planned out while ai was going to a a Top 5 engineering school and just didn't give a fuck and wasn't trying to outshine her precious kids. There is one cool uncle but he lived in MI and then CO so I would only see him once every few years, it was my dad's sister's husband.

Forgot to add, I'm glad you at least gave it a shot. If you want to be more successful at it then here are a few quick tips.

>call the pier or bait shops to see if anyone knows what they're catching out there
>learn to read the ocean, jewtube videos are great for this
>go on incoming or outgoing tides, usually around dawn and dusk

It's similar to a regular Texas rig where you would kinda bounce them along the bottom. But the real shakey heads like pic related are more of a finesse presentation so you go a little slower. When they hit the bottom, the bait should stand up and you give it tiny twitches with the rod tip to make it shake and dance a lil bit.
>>
>>899571
So kind of how you would retrieve hair jigs?
>>
>>899569
I have looked at the tides before but normally when I want to go fishin, I'm gonna go fishin no matter what the tides are doing.

Everytime I'm at the inlet the tide seems to be going in and it creates such a fast current. I forgot to bring my box of big pyramid weights and that current just sucks the hooks right into something and it is such a pain in the ass. I can't figure out what the hell it gets hooked on either because you can pull it with some force for a couple feet before it stops. Maybe some cables from an old bouy or some shit.
>>
>>899572
Pretty much. They are good for the hot months when even big bass don't want to hit big baits. So you put a skinny worm (Zoom makes shakey head worms) or even a small fluke and get to work. Shit works well when you need it but you really gotta put them right on top of the fish since bass won't chase stuff much in that hot water.
>>
>>899574
Would they also work well in colder water like hair jigs?

I still can't believe you've been saltwater fishing this whole time and didn't say a thing in this thread. Have you caught a single fish?

>>899573
I have never had luck with bait at inlets. Work heavy lures like diamond jigs, spoons and bucktails there. Caught 2 slightly under slot snook this year at the inlet with a flair hawk. The Jupiter inlet's current is so strong it even moves my 6oz sputnik sinkers.
>>
>>899573
It's probably just debris at the bottom. Like a big piece of loose rock or coral. Cable makes sense too.

A lot of time you will pull it through a part of a shelf till the angle straightens out and dead stops the rig.
>>
>>899577
Yep. Shaky heads are deep water fall color for me in purples and deep red worms

It really depends on the weight I'm throwing. Usually if it's over 1/2oz I like a Medium Heavy with a fast action. I prefer a fast action for stuff on the bottom because it makes it easier for me to control the lure. You may want to go with a slower rod. A whole lot of fishing is just personal preference.

I got bored one time and put on a little bluegull hook and landed some small ~4" silver baitfish but nothing aside from that.

And I've been casting lures too, not just bait and it still sucks.

That would make it a nicer experience.

I'm sure they would. I just have no frame of reference for cold water fishing anymore since I'm in south Florida and the coldest water temps of the year here mean the best largemouth fishing.

Water is coolin off a bit now so they are hitting jerkbaits and stuff a little better but not quite cool enough yet to break out the big spinnerbaits.

Mayans sure were active tonight. They were nipping at this Size 8 Rapala a bunch and I landed one bigger guy but the hooks just barely fit in their mouths.

Dick's has a ton of lures for Buy 3 Get 1 free this weekend if anybody was interested. I was hoping to see good deals on combos but there isn't much aside from some cheap shit and then some Penn Fierce combos and a Lew's memecaster setup for $69 off of $89.

They have a deal on these W&M rods where you get a free Sabalos spinning reel with the purchase of a rod and that actually looks cool. Those W&M rods are supposed to be decent.

I can't afford a Hobie even used, and I'd much rather have a decent kayak now than save for a really nice one in a few years. but seriously a loan of a few grand isn't that bad on a registered boat. You can pay 4 to 6 grand off in like 2 years man.

I'm in no position to be taking out more loans (have student loans and auto loan currently). And when I do eventually drop some a lot of money on a boat, it's going to be a fuckin bass boat. So I'll also need to buy a house first for boat storage.

A hobie would be dope, but a cheap kayak with ghetto upgrades will be almost as dope.

One year I saw someone park a teardrop trailer on the ice... Maybe 10 years ago. The balls on that man alone could have cracked the ice. I would never try that shit

I just bought a cheap kayak. Hoping it's decent enough. Should be. Bought it from a bloke called Chad.

Apparently, all the cheap (like $300) kayaks are made in the same places as the 8-900$ ones.

It's only till you get up to the super expensive ones that there's a big difference in quality. But, thats what some random forum poster said. and those cunts are almost always wrong.

are you casting in the channel at the inlet? and are you using bait or artificial? i can give you some advice because i fish inlets a lot. when you say you're hooked on something its probably dead line or rocks because most inlets have a drop off with rocks and lots of people lose their rigs in there
you wanna keep tension when fishing an area like that so when you cast dont leave your line slack for too long or else it gets sweeped into the rocks

For trout I really like the white gulp on a red 1/8oz jig head but lately I've been doing really well with the largest smelt gulp on the same hook so it could be worth a try.

Used to use chartreuse curly tail grubs. But have only caught dinks with me lately. If you do try them out put a tiny piece of cut bait on the tip and swim them slowly over the top of the grass. Also works good for flounder if you bounce it through sandy holes.

For redfish it really depends, they big ones are usually picky motherfuckers and won't hit anything aside from live or cut bait of whatever they're feeding on. If there's just a one or two redfish not schooling you can throw some big plugs in front of their face or put a jig in front of them and twitch it slowly on the bottom. If they aren't biting work it slower and just let it sit right in front of their face for a while. DOA white paddle tails with the red tail seems to work best in north Florida for me. Any reds under 25 inches or so are as aggressive as trout and will strike almost anything you throw at them though so gold spoons, plugs, jigs, will all produce well enough.

This is bullshit, cheap kayaks are perfectly fine. I've got a tamarack angler for $~400 and it's been absolutely wonderful to me. I'd like to have a hobie just for the pedals but as long as you get one set up well for fishing that tracks alright you're good.
>>
>>899809
Probably somewhere in the range of 4-6 mph at most
>>
>>899926
Also just adding one more thing, bottom is really important to saltwater fish. Most of my redfish have been caught in muddy bottom with a lot of rocks and oysters while trout usually hang out in kelp or the grass flats. I don't know what it's called since my dad always just called it nigger hair, but if you see a big patch of that curly short grass it'll usually be holding a trout or two.

We really don't have a bunch of gearfag talk around here. Most of us use lower to mid range rods and reels. The worst of the gearfags are the ones who come in saying anything that isn't Shimano is trash and their Taiwanese Shimano is somehow better than a Korean Abu.

Other than that it's mostly "I just grabbed these lures, what do you think?" or people asking reccommendstions on rode and reels in a certain price range which there is always a bunch of good options for.

If you want elitest geardags, go to the knoife threads and listen to people tell you that you NEED a $350 bushcraft knife made of SV37D17MAX steel or you won't even be able to slice the sandwich you brought for lunch. It's nothing even close in these threads.

Speed holes.

It's the design, paintjob, and if you ever take apart similarly priced reels from Shimano vs a competitor like Quantum or Pflueger, you will see a few more parts in the Quantum and Pflueger. And the price point where you start getting magnesium and carbon parts is lower with most other companies than Shimano. That shouldn't be a suprise to anybody.

But Shimano uses older but tried and true designs on most of their stuff so it isn't going to fail. That's why they have the reputation that they do.

I know it's owned by Dick's. It's basically a Bass Pro Shop rod/reel equivalent of a kayak.

>>
>>900115
Try both for 10-15 casts and go with the one you're confident with.
>>
>>900115
Black is only good when it's dark outside so go with the Zooms. Also I fucking hate Yamemeotos since they're so delicate.
>>
>>900112
You have a Bass Pro nearby? Those Titanium 8 combos are on sale for $199 this weekend I think, if I had a bunch of money laying around I would grab that.

>>900114
There wasn't much. Bass Pro had those Johnny Morris setups for a few bucks off and the Sahara reels were a good deal. Dick's didn't have anything good besides Buy 3 Get 1 Free on a bunch of random lures.

>>900116
Yeah, it's Dick's brand name. But like the Bass Pro rods and reels, they are actually manufactured by another company that builds some of the major brands and then they slap the "Bass Pro" or "Field & Stream" brand on them.
>>
>>900116
My mistake. Dick's owns their retail stores. I don't know if they control the product manufacturing or anything.

>>
>>900120
Black does work in muddy water or when running agains green or brown weeds and grass. Stands out really well in those conditions. I run real dark stuff like Junebug all the time even in just slightly murky water and do better with those than natural colors.
>>
>tfw you spent thanksgiving arguing with a pepsi truck driver from florida about saltwater vs freshwater fishing because you didn't want to see your hillary voting family

Kind of like Insignia TVs. Best Buy brand but manufactured by Samsung. Quality TVs for cheap. I still have a 7 year old 32" in my bedroom that does 720p. Only paid like $150 for it if I can recall. A Samsung with same parts would be $200-250.
>>
>>900124
Idk totally depends on the water conditions and how the fish are feeling. I can be at the same lake on three different days and one day natural watermelon is getting the bites, the next day chartruese is landing fish, and the next day the fish won't touch chartruese or watermelon and will eat up junebug.

tl;dr: go try both.
>>
>>900120
Plain black is probably the second best color around here after natural greens you can fish it anytime and get bit
>>
>>900128
Exactly. For a lot of this stuff, there are only a handful of OE manufacturers that make most of the major brands. I'm sure if you did some research, knives would be the same thing aside from the smaller US made shit. Almost all the Asian made knives come from one of a few factories, even brands that aren't connected in any way at all. The brands (aside from fuckhueg ones) often don't own the manufacturing facilities but rather the stuff is contracted to them.
>>
How do I meet a grille while out fishing? I try to make eye contact with the qts but never get more than a smile or hi.

I always go for value over price. People who think the most expensive shit equals the best quality are fucking retarded. Like all of the conservative fags that thinks a "Made in USA" sticker means high quality. They are usually trashier than Chinese shit because they have to use cheaper materials to compete with the market prices.

BPS CatMaxx reels are damn good for catching big cats. $70 beats spending $150-200 on a quality Penn or Abu Garcia reel.

>>
>>900138

>>
>>900027
Everything you just posted is complete bullshit, it was obvious that pepsi was fucking with everyone about not going saltwater fishing. I've known that since i started coming to these threads like 5 months ago.

Also, saltwater speeds up in winter months because a lot of big fish come inland and sit in deep holes. Winter is the best time to catch gator trout inshore.

Pepsi is in prime area for kayak fishing and would catch nice fish year round but hes absolutely right about piers and beaches being aids. It's nothing but tourists like skid who try way too hard and minorities. Last time I fished from a pier I had asian guys telling me to give them all the puffer fish I was catching because they were going to eat them and they got mad and cursed me out in whatever the fuck language they spoke when I threw them all back.

>>900041
as other people have states, you should DEFINITELY have a paddle with you at all times and you will also probably want to move that rod holder closer to you because when you reach for it you're gonna jet water up onto your ass through the scupper holes and it will be uncomfortable to bend that way. Look up a guy on youtube named Zoffinger, he's got a lot of great budget kayak rigging and you should do his anchor pully at the minimum, it's extremely useful.

>>900065
I saltwater fish almost exclusively and its fun as fuck to catch dink bass and bream in ponds. Catching bass worth while is 1000000000000x harder than saltwater fish of similar size so whenever I catch a 4-5 lb bass I feel like I just landed a 40 inch redfish.

>>900084
Why is everything a dick measuring contest for you? It literally does not matter how big the fish you catch are. If you honestly go fishing JUST so you can later brag to everyone about how many inches you've got that's just sad and you're fishing for all the wrong reasons. I went to the river after work today and caught blue gills on some little grubs and had a fucking blast because I don't have autism.

Why not both? You people don't understand what fishing is really about. Judging by sizes of fish or type of fish. Just proving you hardly ever go fishing.

Pepsi was calling out the saltfags on their dinkposting. The irony is on levels I've never seen before.
>>
>>900256
I do both as well. I've been saltwater fishing the past month or so because the river/streams are closed until 12/01/16 and the lake is closed until 3/01/17. Until december if I want to freshwater fish I have the choice of a single pond that only has dink bass and no panfish

This all started because I posted pic related because it was kinda cool to catch a monster baitfish. Everyone started talking shit and it hasn't stopped for probably 3 threads

Some of it is good. But most of the stuff is either discontinued stuff that they can afford to send out for cheap or new products from small companies and they are trying to get the name out.

It is normally quality stuff though. I wouldn't call Yo-Zuri and Lucky Craft cheap shit. But there are definitely some meme lures.

>>900364
The pro isn't bad, you get enough in there to make it worth the extra $10.

In the regular Bass box, you get something like:
- $8-$15 crank or other hard bait
- $5 spinnerbait or jig
- sample pack (2pk) of some quality hook
- sample pack (or two) of some decent soft baits

And the Pro box would be:
- two $8+ hard baits or cranks
- spinnerbait or jig or chattermeme
- full 5pk or 6pk of worm hooks or swimbait hooks
- full pack or two of some soft plastics

Pic related was a Pro box from MTB

I mean the Pro box, that Yo Zuri 3DB is $10 all day and the Lucky Craft is ~$15 so if you would actually buy those lures, everything else there is just a bonus.

And the regular box in this pic, the Whopper Plopper is like $15. So same thing, if you would buy that bait alone, then the chatterbait and couple hooks and soft baits are all free in my mind.

Best topwater for me has been Rapala Skitter Pops. The brown frog color specifically but I have gotten a bunch on the firetiger one too. Just walk it so you get that good "glug" sound and then pause and if the bass are feeding towards the top they will blow up on it.

Usually it's because they spend very little on housing and don't travel anywhere other than to the lake and they do all their shopping at Wal Mart so they're living pretty cheap overall
They're kinda like niggers in that they'll live in a literal shack but have a nice car

Also they usually put themselves in financial high water to cop shit like a new truck and it'll end up getting repossessed in a couple years once they fall behind on payments

Another commonality is nepotism
They'll know a used car dealer or two and say "hey man if you come across a nice truck lemme know" and they'll sell it to them at cost or be friends with a sheriff's deputy and get a sweet deal on a truck before it goes to auction that was seized as part of a drug bust or whatever

If you live in a military town it's enlisted guys spending their reenlistment bonuses

Throw one line in to soak bait and instead of just watching/waiting on it, use other rod for luring.

Inshore from Lucky Tackle box was better. I switched MTB back to trout after 2 or 3 inshore boxes from them.
