Was a fun trip. We didn't canoe as much as we intended, but me being new to it, the water being so cold and the waves from how windy it was meant we just took it easy and played it semi-safe for the days we were out.
>>828937
I've used that same tent and would not recommend either.
>>828960
We were so lucky it didn't rain heavily during the trip. Every morning I woke up with the foot box and hood on my bag damp from the light rain and dew. I had suggested we bring a tarp just in case when we left but we forgot it I think. Bright side is it was cheap as fuck.
>>828927
That doesn't necessarily mean it isn't effective. This is designed for class IV/V whitewater

>>828964
Yeah, it was a low profile life jacket that the MEC we rented the canoe from gave to us for the trip. It was really nice because of the way it was shaped means it didn't interfere with paddling like the big padded ones you get really cheaply.

Did you see many people there? I know it was still early in the season, but I am spending 9 days hiking the lacloche trail starting tomorrow and am worried it will be 'crowded'... Pic related is kawartha lakes, it was really nice because I didn't see a single person until the third day. Also, it's free.
Know of any nice places to camp in ontario? It's hard to find maps of trails on crown land...
>>828980
We went around April 20th. Everyone we talked to said we were the probably the first ones out for the year that they knew of. We only saw 2 rangers on a motor boat one day and a couple heading out on kayaks as we paddled out. Otherwise we had the waters around Phillip Edward Island to our selves.
>>828980
>>828988
To add. It can be hit and miss in parts. Really popular parks will be crowded during the summers. Many of the people there are fat old white people or new immigrants, and they don't generally hike for more than a couple km. Just pick a reasonably big park with trails longer then 10km and it should be good.
I cannot really recommend good camping spots because I'm pretty new to this and have only really been car camping a few times before this canoe trip. That being said, if you go car camping in Ontario I really liked Cyprus lake (was busy tho) and I went to the Pinery Provincial park in October and that was nice. I don't recommend Oastler lake to anyone. Busy and there's a train that goes through nearby at some ungodly time of night and always blares its horn.
>>828991
I was at Cyprus lake last weekend. It was a great trip. Not the back country stuff I'm used to, but it was a lot of fun. The ignorant brown people there kinda ticked me and my girlfriend off though. They were rude, noisy, littered, and overall inconsiderate to the people around them. Would have done the back country sites along the Bruce trail, but there was a fire ban for this past weekend, so that wouldn't have worked.

I move a lot but when I get to come home I love going /out/ in my parents woods. Last fall we had one amazing day and I spent the whole day out taking photos of the leaves. What I believe is an arctic fox carrying a fresh kill in Yellowstone. It's a bit oversaturated unfortunately, but I had to snap the pic super quick and didn't have time to change settings. Someone who knows more than me, let me know if that is an arctic or red fox. From what I read, I'm pretty sure it's an arctic.
Back side of Antelope Island State Park on this great trail about 3 miles up a steep incline over a semi-mountain. Just north of SLC, right on the Great Salt Lake. This place actually felt more like a small National Park than a state park. I was super impressed.
Oregon coast on US 101. Unbelievable drive and if it wasn't for the left leaning politics of western Oregon, I might have considered moving here. Also, I imagine it's tough to find work along the coast. Mainly small fishing or logging towns and Portland is outta the question for me. Either way, the Oregon coast is out of control pretty.

Comfy camping at some random campsite in Dixie National Forest. Got tired when I was driving, so I just pulled off on a random road and found this spot. Right on the edge of this gorgeous valley around 8,000 feet elevation if I remember correctly. Real windy and a bit chilly, but comfy nonetheless.

Cruisin' down through southeast CO, clipping a corner or NM, and heading to Austin. This was in NM, just before the northwest corner or Texas. Crazy hailstorm I was driving into. Eventually there was a double rainbow, but it was hailing and gusting so much that I just ended up pulling over and taking a nap for a little while 'til it passed. Was super pretty driving into it though.
That'll be it for me for now, didn't meant to spam this shit, but I just bought a new camera before I left for this trip and I have so any pictures I think turned out well. Might post some a little later or tomorrow.

I did not, I honestly did not hit WA as much as I would have liked to. I had a buddy to meet in SoCal and I literally just hit WA for 45 mins of driving down from Coeur D'alene or however you punctuate it. I've been to Seattle before and have seen some of WA, but not as much as i would have liked to. WA has some ultra super /out/ action going, but I sacrificed that time to hit the Redwoods instead. Yes, I agree that if 200 people hung their hammock over the course of the year in the same 2 trees in the same exact spots (height and angle) it MIGHT do a little harm to the bark but it still wouldnt kill the tree. Again, a fucking tree.....
