Thread dedicated to all your OWN /out/ related pictures. Google images should not be used as this is a thread for all the active outdoorsy posters on the board to show off their campouts/setups/gear and hopefully bring /out/ back from its current state ie; shitposting until a new primitive technology comes out.

Hill country, northern NSW near Tenterfield.
Freezing cold and blowing a gale. Fucken great to be outside.
My first "vision quest" alone, when I just learning how to properly use a camera. I didn't know it at the time but this night /out/ started a whole new phase for me.
>>842152
>vision quest
Can you explain what that is please?
>>842147
oh man so cool, wish I was there for that. got another pic?
>>842153
I think it's going out innawoods high as a kite, half starved and dehydrated, and finding your inner spirit animal. Mine's a penguin.

>>842153
kek no not at all, it's just me going /out/ totally alone in the dark and spending a couple days enjoying the woods. i'd always gone out with friends before that, but that trip was totally different, and it was fun and rewarding in all new ways as well. since then i try to do a solo camp (aka "vision quest") at least a couple times a year.

I laughed unreasonably hard at this picture. I just imagine someone walking through the dunes and thinking to themselves, 'hmmm, so where to set up camp...' and wandering back and forth across the landscape only to verbalize, 'AH! RIGHT HERE!' This is followed by promptly smashing a bag of tent poles in to the sand and beginning to make camp.
I've been inside for a few too many hours.
Just playing around with shit i found in the woods

Get broadband fag. It's 16 years into the new millennium.
>>842867
Know when the last fires through there were? And what species those dead trees are vs the live stuff?
>>842870
Not him, but I'm on broadband in the inner city of Melbourne and a 4mb file takes ~13seconds to load on 4chan serves. It takes less than that for me to resize an image from 4mb down to 300kb, which opens practically instantly. If you want people to look at your photos, it helps if you meet them half way.
>>842876
Fires were deliberately lit a few years ago as part of mosaic bush fuel load fire management. (They burn of patches of growth here and there across the hills to prevent fuel buildup during summer wildfire season).
Dead trees are a mix of large tea-tree and other scrubby acacia or wattle varieties. Green trees are a mix of tallow wood, stringy bark and yellow bloodwoods.
Some of those dead trees have been there for over 30 years, the wood in them is so hard. When you throw them onto the campfire they burn to almost a nothing leaving a very fine grey ash, like talc powder.

>>842882
Cool thanks man. I'm quite familiar with mosaic burning, something I'm quite interested in (both its positive and negative aspects). Never explored the vegetation outside of Vic so was just curious as to what they were. Well used to v old dead trees too (I mainly hike the Victorian Alps which are currently covered in stands of dead trunks/ limbs - though thats from only 13 years ago).
>>842921
Downhill skiing? Cross country? I was in the alps recently there for a bit of hiking. Definitely want to go back and do more hiking or cross country skiing maybe if Jetstar keep having $350 return flights

I bushedwhacked through the "foothills" near Denver for two days. Signs of deer being eaten by large carnivores errywhere, an elk came out on the edge of the forest and stared me down so I climbed a tree. Was tresspassin on private property so had to duck and stealth around a cabin. Fuckin cacti and prickly shit errywhere and no water. Pretty brutal desu but totally worth it

And what reason is that, aside from making life easier for people in Australia, which no one really cares about.

Climbing Mt. Kazbek couple of weeks ago. Was a crazy experience, specially when we got caught in a snow storm.
Another one from our trip to Georgia, this one's from our trek from Omalo to Shatili, shortly after Atsunta pass.
We slepts in two tents which we hired, TNF Talus 2, and RIE Quarter Dome 3. Inside the tents each of us had is own mat and sleeping bag.
Kept us warm through heavy hail at 12000 ft at about - 2 C imo.
