3 foot is probably deep enough to have some decent size fish in it, You probably just need to find the right spot.

You camping spot looks nice though, Lots of cover to hide from the rape gangs.

He's right lad. Being homeless isn't a zany subculture for you to be on the edge of with your "showing what nobody else will show" vice documentary. Most people who are homeless are not homeless by choice and they will not be smiling hippies showing you the ropes, introducing you to their group of friends, smoking weed together at the bonfire and sticking it to the evil man with the good guys. They will all be druggies and alcoholics who will take your shit at knifepoint and tell you to fuck off for daring to insult them by sticking your big nose in their life like it's some sort of joke. Stay on /r9k/ and get a real job.
>>

It felt like that after 6 months but then I built my resume with it and got a farm manager job immediately after. It was Worth the skills I learned I'd say. That said I've seen a lot of people taken advantage of because of wwoof.

>>
>>824604
I'm willing to come along for your film thing. I've always wanted to see the unmediated side of the country, it'd be a cool adventure. One thing, do you think we could pick up our dirty needles and malt liquor bottles after ourselves like responsible members of society do? I'd love that.
>>
>>824604
more details? i might be interested
>>
>>824661
>>824666
The idea is simple, we'd start somewhere and aim to go somewhere else. We would accept rides from all sorts of characters to get there, trainhopping as well. It isn't about how vagabonds are cool, there's no moral to the story necessarily, there's just a carefree adventure. Something honest and fun to watch.

I'd need a cameraman (we'd often switch) and (optional) a backup guy. Basically just some guy in a truck with a first aid kit and spare equipment ect. He'd take over of the cameraman got fucked as well. Backup is really something nice to have but not required.

We would just travel and document things. Meet and interview people, try new things, and most of all we'd get shit on by mother nature and luck constantly.

Couple that with tying the editing style in with music made by independent artists, original scoring as well, you got one chill (hypothetical) motion picture.

And yes, we aren't filthy bums. No trash of course (I realize you're just harassing me).
>>
>>824688

>>824692
Thumbs up is great. I guess it would be like thumbs up but with better cameras, and rather than rock music it would have a lot of trip hop/cloud/experimental stuff. Also, that guy gave 0 shits, which is good. We'd give like maximum 5 shits as far as storytelling, camera work and realism goes. I had my issues with Thumbs Up but I still love it. Adventure documentaries aren't dead because they had a predecessor.

Warning someone of their stupidity over and over so maybe they wont make a poor decision =/= trolling. I have seen people beaten, hospitalized, robbed and left for dead for simply lying about riding trains. Oogles like him get it even worse. There are people on the rails who WILL kill or beat the fuck out of your ass for your shitty go pro and fresh gear. Yall wanna get fucked on just to put another piece of shit train "doc" on youtube be my guess. You need to immerse yourself before you try some gay shit like that when you know literally fuck all about it.

Beach, mountains, desert all somewhat close together, but I couldnt find a job there. Kinda of thinking about buying land out by El Paso and squatting. The dice is in the air right now.
>>
>>826075
Thats gonna be real rough. I would suggest somewhere like flagstaff, or anywhere around phoenix, even out to the east. Santa fe NM and Moab are good places for that. You are going to want a college town, cities are 10x tougher to innacar. Keep wyoming and montana in mind too, dont know if youve been out that way but the climate shouldnt offend you, Bozeman and Missoula MT are pretty high tier for what you are wanting to do. You could also look at eastern to mid washington, Spokane, Ellensberg, Moses Lake, Wenatchee, very good economy there, plus national forest land and no one gives a shit about you living in your vehicle.

Hobos, question:
Outside of these threads, in real life, what percentage of people would you ignore you, are dicks, are nice? How many of the dicks are actual pains in the ass like calling the cops to harass you dicks? How many of the nice people mean well but are annoying? How many are actually helpful? Would you say your hobo life needs other people around to function or would you be better off in wilderness avoiding people altogether if you could?
>>
>>828887
And, would you say other people in total are a net gain or net drag for you?

Part of the reason I'm asking is for myself, so whether this applies to what level of in the know you are would be helpful too.

Thanks.
>>
>>828891
Douchebags are seldom. People are almost never dicks except for in passing shouting get a job or whatever. Cops get called every once in a while, if youre not a shitshow they will just leave you alone unless youre in a real piece of shit town you never shouldve gone to in the first place. 90% of interaction is with nice folks that want to help. The annoying parts are the home bums, local druggies, and oogles that just cant stop themselves from trying to hang out with you. As far as needing them, i dont. Its nice to be able to go busk and make money, but its not necessary to stay alive. Most panhandlers are out there for booze and drugs and shit, not food or clothes or any normie stuff. People are a net gain for me in this life. In box life, they are a drag for sure. Out here, people either want to help you out or pretend you dont exist. Either way works for me.
>>
>>828901
>oogles that just cant stop themselves from trying to hang out with you.

Do people just randomly approach you or what?

I can honestly say I'm a dick when:
1) Someone tries to bum off me and they have better shoes on than I do
2) Someone is bumming and smoking
3) Someone is bumming while eating food and I'm hungry
Other than those 3 I usually give a little
>>
>>828908
Yeah, theyll come by say whats up sit down and try and hang out. I run everyone off who isnt another traveling kid or some curious normie that just wants to talk for 5 mins after giving my ass a dollar
>>
>>828926
What does running off usually entail? Is it just a strong suggestion to leave?

Are they dicks?
>>
>>828938
Anymore i just tell em to kick rocks, go away, stop blowing up my spot etc. Ive only had to seriously strong arm one dude away in almost 5 years. Its not so much that theyre dicks, but they will seriously sit by you, harass normies and try and get in on your money for hours if you let them. Local druggies and wingnuts are the worst, ill kick a meth heads ass if he doesnt fuck off and ill make sure to tell him before he gets close. Cant stand that shit.
>>
I just found myself homeless a couple days ago. Fucking landlord evicted everybody because of water damage he caused. I've got a tent and tarp in the woods. Little supplies few clothes nothing to pawn or sell and no savings amd a smart phone with a crap data plan. I do have a part time job but my boss barely works me when he keeps telling me he has "all this work" I've been loyal showing up for 6 months and working only a handful of hours a week thinking I'd be getting more soon. I have ten dollars to my name no id or license and past work history has always been out of pocket oddjobs that really don't help my resume. I have no family either and my close friends can't really help.

I'm just not quite sure how I can hustle a few grand in a couple weeks here in florida so I can get a car and rental.
>>
Hey guys I'm not homeless but I want to take a day trip bum camping, the area I've scouted out is about 1 sq mile and is wooded/fielded between a logistics plant and a big river (not a forest preserve but I don't know who owns the land) so I don't think I would run into anyone. How big of a fire can I have? What happens if I'm caught by police or something? Any other tips?
>>
>>828987
>hustle a few grand in a couple weeks
You cant. You need to look into public aid and shelters if you want to get back on your feet there. If you were trying to commit to the life youd have it a lot easier.

>how big of a fire
Small

>what happens if cops catch me
Worst case scenario you get a 100 trespassing ticket and escorted off the property. Most likely they will just tell you to leave and that will be that.
>>
>>828990
Second half was to you
>>829019
>>
>>828987
You should look into your state's renter's rights. If it's as you say it is, you could sue your ex landlord. Look around for a legal aid for the poor/homeless, many big cities have them, and lots of good lawyers do pro bono work there to network or to get good feels.
>>
>>828887
As the bus anon said, most people we meet out here are either trying to help us or trying to pretend we don't exist. A few want to interact with us to gain some sort sense of superiority, others are just trying to gauge us before they give us a dollar, some are just curious and want to talk. Often when they find out you can speak on more than a few subjects they'll go all out, more than a few times while hitchhiking i've had the person who picked me up confide some super heavy shit in me because 'well we'll probably never see eachother again so..'

People usually only call the cops on me if I'm sleeping on their property and they've somehow seen me without waking me up and asking me to leave themselves, or if I'm in an area where panhandling is specifically something the locals call the police for. In areas where people have never seen a traveler and homeless are some big city idea, people usually don't care as long as you're not somehow affecting them.

Other people aren't so bad. I don't necessarily need other people to live but they do make things a lot better. We're social creatures, after all. The good hobo life is a delicate balance. When you want to be on blast and in front of everyone, you can be; when you want to go off and be alone, you can be.

i saw a dead guy last night at 2am

he was some old homeless person who died in his wheelchair. he was hunched all the way forward in a position no man can sleep in and totally lifeless.

it was the saddest thing ever,
his last warm bed was probably at the hospital which gave him that wheelchair before sending him out into the streets to his final death

people drive past him and nobody cares. granted it was 2am so not alot of traffic, but this was studio city, so there was some traffic.

its horrific how people can just die like that and nothing is done about it. something is definitely wrong with this country

>Busk in an underpass, great acoustics and shelter from rain
>Means that now and then homeless people turn up too
>Most are fine, only had a few issues
>One guy turns up
>Older guy, dirty enough to be genuinely homeless rather than the fake homeless people common where I'm from
>Politely asks if I mind him setting up at the other end of underpass
>People generally give less money to both of us if I'm busking near homeless people (Not sure whether to give the money to someone who needs it or someone who deserves it so just gives us neither)
>Almost finished session so don't mind at all, only going to be playing for a few more songs
>Homeless guy now and then asks me what song I'm singing after finishing and no one is around, very polite
>I notice he's gotten a few donations
>Comes over to me after about 10 minutes
>Holding one of those packaged meals from M&S
>"Do you like salad?"
>"I can't take food from a homeless person, sorry, you need it more than I do."
>"It's a chicken salad with bacon in it."
>"It's okay, it's yours. I'll eat later."
>"I'm Jewish"

And so I had to accept a meal from a homeless guy just trying to do a little good in the world. Ended up giving the meal to another homeless guy in town (made sure he wasn't Jewish) and gave the Jewish guy a few quid on my way back home.

If you dont actually workout the gym membership thing is kind of a waste of money plus a lot of them gyms are kind of shady about letting people cancel their membership. Buckinghamshire, UK. I've travelled a little with my busking, I go to university in Nottingham so I've done it a bit there. Never really seen any homeless people up there unless I'm out on the piss in the early hours of the morning and they can point me towards McDonalds. The problem with travelling whilst busking is the more I spend travelling the less I earn overall that day. London has higher income for buskers but it's stricter about where/when you can busk and I'd rather not almost get arrested
again
. Right now where I busk is great because it's only a short walk from my house so I don't have to pay travelling fees. Plus, it's really good money, around £20 an hour if the weather is decent.

I have a free ride to university that pays for classes and books. It comes with a gym membership. During the winter and summer I can go back and live with my girlfriend or sister. On campus is not chill. What school? Big or small? During the day you can get away with a lot of stuff. At night you will have to find somewhere off campus to crash, itll only be a matter of time before security catches on.
>>
>>833952
Huge state campus. Google says they had 15,738 students in 2011. The library is open till 2 am, 24/7 during midterms and finals. The building I spend the most time in has no apparent security besides video surveillance and is only locked up during breaks. I have, and have noticed many students studying there over night. If I keep up appearances think I can get away with it? I plan on spending most if not all of my time studying.

Been homeless about a month, living in my small car.

My biggest problem is parking so I can fucking sleep. Any advice?
>>
>>834752

Wal Mart is extremely lax about that because they make a lot of money from traveling RVers who park in their lots and stock up on fool, toiletries and other supplies while there.
>>
>>834752
Let me suck you in exchange for housing.
>>
>>834752
You can try large warehouses or industrial areas in general. Where I used to live there are many large and busy warehouses that no one would notice you staying at. Just make sure they have lots of people and no security and you'll be good. Some places had so many workers they had to park out in the street, both night and day.

Walmart doesnt mind travelers, but they dont like homeless people living in the parking lot. If you go the walmart route make sure to move around in the parking lot night to night. Dont pick one spot and squat thete. If there are more than one walmarts in your area you should rotate between them through out the week.

I went out to Portland Oregon to become an hero but wanted to see some shit first. Only had $7, a backpack, luggage, a mandolin, and a skateboard. First night I tried sleeping in a church field under a tree. Took hours to fall asleep and when I finally did i woke up to some pissed cops yelling "get the fuck on the floor!" About 50 ft away. I thought they saw me but they were arresting some dindu who ran and drove away. Finally fell asleep for about 30 minutes then started getting rained on. Spent the next day getting fucking rained on and realising I didn't want to kill myself because of how beautiful Portland forestry was. I ended up calling home and coming clean that I went out to kill myself instead of traveling like I told everybody. They bought me a ticket to fly home the next day and get me help. Ended up meeting some cool homeless punk who let me camp out with him and some other people. Flew home the next morning.
Made me respect homeless a whole lot more and realise how fucked I was mentally at that point.

My list
Weapon
Stolen toilet paper from gas station
2 extra pair of socks
1 pair of heavy socks
1 extra of underwear
1 extra of pants
2 extra shirts
1 light rain coat
1 heavier rain coat
Simple tarp and small tent
sleeping bag if below 50 at night
Wool blanket
Gloves and beanie if below 50 at night
Stash of food
Water

Everything else is going slow you down and get stolen and having room in your shitty milsurp seabag is nice if you come upon some things to take that will lead to some benefit for you

I've been living out of my truck with a camper shell since Jan. Do it mostly to save money since i live in a wealthy area. Cheapest room you can get is 600/month with several shithead roomates. Use my old school ID for gym/shower access. All my stuff is in a shOrtage unit for 50/month. Have my mail sent to afrIend's place. GF does my laundry and some meal prep. I'm working several jobs while applying for grad school so there is an end in mind. I think some people romanticize the idea of being homeless. It's not great but i do it because I'm saving money and i won't have to take out loans for school.

Pic related...my set up and yea we fug in it. Image may be upside down

>romanticize
Living in your truck innacity and working is very different from living in your truck traveling and living innaforest. Nobody romanticizes city life innatruck.

just searched up what a navy shower is and what the fug
this isnt a normal shower??
the only time ive seen other people shower was in big public showers with th push button things where the water turns off automatically after like 30 seconds, so I never thought people showered with the water on when they could turn it off. What the fuck?? I can understand how some people might forget to turn the tap off when they brush their teeth, but in the shower, unless your shower is big as fuck, you're gonna get hit by water that rinses off the soap before you get a chance to lather properly. I can't understand why anyone would lather with the water on.

I've been homeless for 35 years.

Never had a home once in my life, that is something of an opinion, the idea of what is a home. So I've always been homeless.

Now, I happen to have a very good technique to provide for what I need. Instead of asking with my hand placed outward, I ask by doing things for people. Right now, my job title is senior systems analyst for a tech company. I ask for money so well they actually write me checks, and by the end of the year I would have successfully asked for nearly 200k.

My house and my car are very wonderful, but like I said, I have no home. I am just here on Earth, like everyone else, and happen to have asked for money so well that I have provided myself a means of shelter. No different than a cardboard box in the grand scheme.

Is this thread just a support group for those of you that were just dreadful at asking for money? The whole world is homeless but you guys cant seem to get more than a few bucks when you ask.

Maybe learn to ask for money more effectively?

>that bottle opener on the bed

Your lady must be pretty dope. Don't let her go. Godspeed.
>>
>>841557
Can you go into a little more detail about your method? Right now i'm getting ready for school next semester (welding technology) so I can learn trade that I can ask for money in return. Right now i'm a bike deliverer (all though i'm very good at this and it pays will) and homeless.
>>
>>841574
Essentially I take millions of pieces of data and write code for the data to make sense later on in presentations with upper management, I also interpret the data in ways that make them want to give me more money, as anybody that works with data or systems analysis should.

Been begging for money like this for years buddy.
>>
>>841576
I've been considering learning to code as I have a friend who makes pretty decent money at it. He does work similar to you. I want to roam and work (hence the welding but I also like welding) but i'm not sure where to start. Any insight would be appreciated.
>>
>>841581
you realize this dude is shitposting right? he's just a normie with a job and a house. wrong guy to ask about working and roaming.
>>
>>841599
I figured, that's why i'm asking questions.
>>
>>841581
Heres insight: You will quickly find yourself wanting to roam more than work

Polarities shift they do not balance
>>
>>841606
This isnt always true. There are plenty of ways to accomadate both. Conservation corps is a wonderful way to go for example, work all season innaforest living at camp out of a backpack, unable to spend what you earn, then you can fuck off and do what you want afterwards and not have to worry about money. Trimming weed is also great for this, you can work your ass off for two months and put 8-10k in your pocket, then again just fuck off and do what you want. If you want big money you could sign onto a fishing boat for some months. You can learn an instrument, which will give you guaranteed income no matter where you are. With no bills and some basic bitch ingenuity you can stretch that money out into forever and see the world while you do it.
>>
>>841557
you dont belong here fag
>>
>>841631
You know nothing
>>841612
Nothing wrong with that, but I wouldn't consider seasonal work as full time traveling and working which is more of what you could expect with such low margins of profit
>>
>>841635
I support myself on music while i travel all over the place. Ive been in every state but maine and rhode island in the last 5 years. This is where the vagabonding comes in as opposed to seasonal work. The only times i have to stop for a while are when the vehicle breaks down, and if you hitch hike or ride freight that isnt an issue. There are ways to keep plenty of money around and never stop moving.
>>
>>841664
The point in fact is talent always scales and people can make upwards of a million dollars with what you folks do, but there is such an irrelevant level of application within your lives that this will never be the case. Every job is being a beggar. Even President. Yes, it is very easy to make millions while traveling and working. Ask any construction worker.

Living in a bus, not really sure you can call yourself homeless my man. It's way different than living in the streets, be real.
>>
>>820253
Well I can't take my abusive household anymore and I've consistently failed to find/keep a job, looks like I'm gonna be homeless on the streets of London for a while. I'm pretty scared. I have a warm sleeping bag and a couple changes of clothes and a medium backpack and some boots. What the fuck do I do? Any tips for money, food, shelter? I'll steal if I have to. I'm scared guys. Probably gonna sell this laptop and then I'll be down to the absolute basics. Backpack, sleeping bag, canteen, spork, clothes. That's it. What about keeping my teeth clean?

Get good at sucking dick.

>What about keeping my teeth clean?
Don't worry about it you'll be fine. I haven't done anything to my teeth besides flossing in years and everything is fine in there.

Besides, even if it does make you look worse, that's just going to make people pity you more when you beg.
>>
>>843492
>homeless in bongistan
Things are different over there but you sound like you're fine. Don't sell the laptop or you'll just be selling your ass in a few days. Figure out how to live extremely frugally.
>>
>>843639
Won't it be good for food money though? Even if I got like £100 for it I could eat for a long time if I was very frugal.
>>843826
Again, why would I keep the laptop? What purpose would it serve? I can use computers in public libraries for job applications and shitposting. I was more hoping for tips on how to maximise my earning potential (without sucking dick), how to stay safe and where to sleep etc.
>>
>>843826
Also, should I bring a weapon? Despite not being a sheltered suburbanite I'm not very tough. I'm scared of getting attacked. I'm worried the police could send me to jail if they catch me though.

I reject living first in the man made world, second in nature. I grew up in a real piece of shit town in Kansas, my parents are worthless alcoholics and every peer I had that stuck around the home town became a tweaker when meth blew up again 5ish years ago. At 17 I moved into my first squat of 3. It was all the same people, all my close friends, and it was fucking great while it lasted. Just no cares, partying and playing music all the time, going to shows etc. I was the stereotypical smash the state punk kid. At 20 I went to college for flying planes because my friends got tired af and "that's just what you do." I had just finished my first year, moved me and my then girlfriend to Kansas City, got a real great job getting soaked to the bone at 5am daily watering plants in P&L. Would have probably done that til who knows when but my girlfriend couldn't handle life outside her hometown and dipped out on me. I decided fuck this and hitched up to lake michigan just to get my feet wet. Ended up getting picked up by a guy at mall of america who took me to his lake house, bought me nice whiskey and weed, let me pitch my tent on his beach and threw a carnival over the weekend that i was with him. Even had some tail my own age. I was pretty fucking sold after that and I haven't been any one place longer than 8 months since. I'll have my 5th year on the road this winter, the last two years i've been innavehicle. It's been fucking amazing man, absolutely wonderful. The bad days out here don't even touch the bad days from when i lived in a house. Total freedom, i never want for anything, i go where i want when i want and do what i want with no exception. The biggest tip I have for people who wanna do this is don't. Unless you asked yourself that question, then promptly gathered up your shit and left you aren't ready and you won't have a good time.

I have gotten a few people into this life, and tried with many many others. It is really the ultimate /out/ life in the USA. Living innaforest, onnamountain, you barely need anything from towns and what you do need you can easily get. Traveler life is far from city home bum shit. On foot, you are camping everywhere. Innacar, you can go deep innaforest, or up into the mountains, riding freight you're camping everywhere and you get to see parts of the country you never even knew existed. If you can't stand box life, get mad every day about the people around you wasting their lives and dragging you around in their bullshit, can't see the schooling and job search ever ending, and truly feel that shit is just really wrong everywhere and you want no part of it, this life may be for you. It doesn't have to be so hardcore, many many tourists out there, but there is a community of lifers out here that you'll never find anywhere else. Unity and family are real here, people that you can trust upon seeing their clothes and the looks in their eyes. I'll never stop living like this, it beats the shit out of societal life in every single way.
Didn't want to tl;dr too much, ask questions, i'll be happy to answer.
