Common Op. Im all for sheddys but my golly.
>>809149
Alright heres mine.
I have a Cold Steel chopper for the dirty property work
I use an Old Hickory 14 inch butcher for camp stuff
>>809805
This is the Old 14" butcher
It's a beast. You can cut trees down with it.
The chopper is out in the shed so I can't get a picture.
>inb4 the picture is upside down, because it always is with me
>>809815
how thick? 1/4" ?
I really like using a 1lb clever for butchering game.
Not that thick
Around 2.5mm thick, which is in the same ballpark as machetes.
Since it's pretty good carbon steel, it can hack through pretty much anything you'd want to hack through with a machete. The thinner blade helps when cutting/slicing/hacking meat.
For the price, you can't go wrong.
Just got to keep it oiled since it's not coated.
>>809815
> for all the Mora BS, Old Hickory knives are far superior
>>809825
Its thicker than most machetes but not by a lot. 2.5mm seems about right. Its way more rigid though. Its a large butcher knife not really a Machete.
Ontario also makes Hop knife which is flat ground and thinner, still semi-rigid.
>>809938
I consider it a machete simply due to the size (14" blade is in the ballpark of machetes), shape, and it can do the same job and then some.
>>809920
Their pairing knives are good substitutes for Moras (around the same price); you also get a full tang as standard. You don't get a pouch, but you can find/make them easily enough.
>>809743
> golly
You can suck this by golly.
>>810315
Sword thread?
>>810323
Hey, my grandpa stole that sword from a Jappo himself!
Or something like that. There's an Arisaka and an old Japanese flag from WWII buried somewhere as well.
>>810328
Im all for shettys and work blades.. But swords aren't really out.
>>810318
>>810328
Oooo that's a nice nipponese sheddy you got there Peps! All I have from the grandpas is an SS bayonet, some swastika and hitler youth armbands, and a couple nazi helmets. The bayonet is a pic related - useable but not a combat item, made for dress/parade.
I used to have a cheep sheddy but my friend broke it and now I'm mad.

I've got one of those sitting in the shopping card waiting for me to buy it. I fucking love my legitimately old old hickory knives so I'm looking for an excuse to buy and use another one.
>>810330
Thats all wallhanger swords are good for after the tang snaps. Just hacking up brush.
>>810904
Here's a pic somebody on /o/ drew of me. Not sure what other sword anon looks like. I bed he has a dope fedora though.
>>810918
haha that's cute
My kukri from himalayan imports. My prized possession
>>811532
shit's expensive as fairydicks. do you use it? it's a catch 22... i'd be reluctant to use it because it costs do damned much but not using it is a waste of all that monies. i coudn't handle it anon my brain would melt.
>>811536
I'm gonna get a polymer sheath built for it because the one it came with is like the most authentic leather I've ever seen, still smells like old Bessy
Other than that I wouldn't know how to break the blade itself it's so facking hardy.
Bough this a while ago for bush whacking, seems ok for the price. Opinions?
>>811790
I have one and I love it. I beat it to death and it keeps on going. Plus it's only like $25
>>811532
nice to see an HI kukri instead of fucking kukri house. HI are sooooo much better.

Do you like it I've been thinking about one for my pack
Light wood and tinder cutting mostly lube ina desert
>>812521
Its great
What brand/style of machete do you guys recommend for someone who is cheating brush in right of ways for post of their job for the next three months? Not going to have to cut down trees and such, occasionally small saplings but mostly just tall shrubs, bushes, etc. Been using co-workers BG gerber parang machete, but I hate it. Feels awkward to cut with, like I to put more force and swing past the target to cut it. Price range $20-60
>>812765
Cutting* my phone's dumb
>>812765
Tramontina. I have a bolo, it's perfect for that. Good carbon steel, good temper. You have to put an edge on it yourself, get a cheap bastard file and then keep a stone in your pocket if you want it sharper/to touch it up, I use a DC3
>>811536
They're not that expensive if you check their forum on Bladeforums for deals and seconds.
I got a 21" Gelbu Special for $125 including shipping from their forum.
From their store it goes for $200.
>>812765
Condor makes good machetes. They're the same company that makes Tramontina (or Imacasa, I forget which).
Baryonyx also sells a line of Italian machetes that I've heard good things about.
>>812998
Op pic ate Condor. Great stuff! You might look at the Village Parang.
>>811982
I have that one. I's bretty good for 5/5 dollarydoos.
>>809149
Condor? Kind of overly expensive, but alright.

That and its gerber counterpart are soft chinkshit. It will do well clearing small brush for a campsite or similar but that is its only function.
t. I have had one for a few years
>>815799
its alright for whacking a trail if needed but to be honest I'd rather my machete over it.
Estwing machete. I love this thing to death but it doesn't hack like a regular machete does. It's one solid piece of metal from end to end. Thickness is around a 1/16th of an inch. Anyone else got one/ have any questions I'd be happy to discuss
>>812965
I have a Tramontina that I use for getting rid of brush
Comfy to use as well
>>814288
Is pepsifag an asian?
>>815799
faggots this is one hundred time better than a machete
I don't have the fiskars and I'm not inspired much by them. I use italian made "roncola" in the woods
>>817071

i don't know what that means though

Fucking war cleaver. Looks like someone had a grinder, leaf spring, drill. Looks good for whacking off big branches.
Anyone have issues when using their machetes them rolling in your palm as they deflect from say a tougher branch or something? Is there a way to defeat this issue?
>>821336
yeah avoid tactical handles, get one with an oval straight handle. Never a round one
Did I mention you also need mad skills?
>>821824
My handle is wood. But I grabbed an old leather belt from the trash and split its halves. I'm gonna try to wrap the handle to make it thicker and see if that helps.
