>>

I don't have it but look up the Pack Rifle, beats this by a lot.
>>
Savage 17-HMR or my 30/30, normally pack my shotgun if I do pack a gun which is rare. 12 gauge under under
>>
>>807848
> pack rifle

An accurate, +1#, minimalist, takedown rifle.

Darn near bought one. Changed directions and sent off Form 1 SBR paperwork on a Ruger 10/22 Takedown.

Time I'm done I should have a semi-auto repeater at just 2#+.

> let the waiting begin...
>>
>>807900
Yeah, it's an elegant design, the machining looks to be top notch as well.

I will probably get a .22 levergun first, but then I will look into a 10/22 or go with the pack rifle.

How are you going to shave off those 3#? What kind of stock do you intend to use?
>>
If I have to blast something on the property, I pull out the Sportco 44 .308. Accurate, has my best scope on it, and .308 is good for everything.

Long range shots are typical from the homestead into valleys and across plains.

I don't really bother with a firearm otherwise.

Browning BL 22 is a great rifle anon, it was my first gun and I still have it, in fact these rabbits were shot with it (pest control)

And before any of you whine about hunting they're both in the freezer right now.

I'll one up you with my Remington Speedmaster 552. Honestly any 22 that's tube fed and doesn't jam is fine
>>
>>808339
If I'm camping or don't feel like working real hard I'll quarter it, soak it in a brine then cook it in a pot with one of those mountain house southwest style rice with beef meal bags.
>>
>>807841
When kayaking for a single day, this actually.
If it's kayaking for multiple days, camping, or hiking, I'll normally take this and my ar-15, or my Montana 84M. I carry 2 rifles because why not, and because I don't feel like 5.56 on a squirrel or duck is fair for dinner, or cost efficient
>>
>>807841
There was a guy on /k/ who proposed that they should offer the rifle in OP's picture in 9mm and store a Mora, a fire steel (ferro rod) and an LED flashlight in the stock to make it the ultimate survival rifle, it sounded like a good plan to me.
>>
>>808485
Got one of these last year after helping my grandmother clean out her house to move. It was my grandfathers and is in great condition. I'm not sure how old it is, but it doesn't have a serial number so its at least pre-1968. Still shoots like a dream though. It even has the same/similar scope as yours. Never really knew much about them before finding it, but its a good gun.
>>
>>807841
If I carry at all, I carry the same Henry Survival Rifle pictured. Perfectly adequate for rabbits and squirrels. Packs small and doesn't draw attention.
>>

AR-15 usually

Maybe if your standing next to it. Took mine out to the range the other day, 100 rounds, 5 hits on a 4 inch target at 30 yards. Borrow my buddies ruger mark 2, hit with every shot in the mag.
>>
>>808749
Yeah, but with that low price comes shifty wobbly plastic.

Rifles are nice but handguns pack better. It depends what you want it for. If you know your going to need to hunt for food then get a better rifle. If you want something "just in case" then also get a better rifle, or a longer handgun.

Best pack rifle for Canadian /k/ommandos? I like the Utah pack rifle that someone linked but after getting in contact with them, it looks like it would be an extra $250 US to import it into Canadastan
>>
>>809242
Single shot vs Semi auto is a no brainer

>muh wobbly plastic
Bullshit you whiney bitch, AR-7 pieces together without anything loose unless you have twigs for arms and cannot tighten 2 simple connections

You do not have an AR-7 or ever shot an AR-7 and are simply talking out of your ass because you like the PAKRIFUL™ (made by Biolite)

I bought mine years ago at near $160 and it is well beyond impressive

If I wanted to sink $400+ I would simply just get a .22 bolt

Under $200 for a watertight enclosed rifle and when assembled is a 8 round semi auto which is a LOT more helpful if you direly needed food and somehow missed your first shot

>>808749
100% correct and that is assuming you pay $230 for it

If you were to sit on the price for a month or two, I am almost sure you can even find it for $200 if not less nowadays
>>
>>809278
>If I wanted to sink $400+ I would simply just get a .22 bolt
Or even a 20 or 410 over/under since you can get decent Marlin bolt .22s for $250~

My newer Marlin is great for what I've been using it for. Mostly hikes and small trips in the woods in and around me and my friends property. Bought myself a nice leather sling for him not too long ago and it's holding up well so far. 30-30 has been a fun round for it too.

A PTR-91 KMF4R

16" bull barrel with the welded top rail and because it was built after Feb it has the traditional paddle mag release.

I guess it's technically a copy of a copy of the origional. CETME was the origional based on the StG 45. HK then took the CETME and made some improvements to make the G3 platform, and then PTR industries bought the blueprints and the machines from HK to make the PTR91.

I wish I actually took it on /out/ings but shit it's a heavy rifle. It's over 10 pounds loaded. Not terrible when the sling is used like a backpack putting the weight over two shoulders, but it gets tired quick otherwise.
>>
>>808993
Get a hunting permit and a license m8.
Its not rocket science. Its not difficult unless you are a criminal.
>>
>>808556
there's an over/under folding rifle made by chiappa that shoots .22 and .410 which would probably fit the bill better. 9mm might destroy smaller game like squirrels or rabbits, but with this you could use .22 for rabbits and .45 long colt for stuff up to coyote size with good shot placement. .410 could be used for birds. after that the only advantages the AR-7 has it that it floats and is magazine fed
>>
>>810015
>>808556
oh and you could paracord wrap the stock to carry ferro rod and knoife, and just clip a flashlight onto the barrel since it doesn't need to slide into the stock

Chiappa m6, update on the Ithaca m6 in your pic.

I've gone back and forth on picking one up. THey also have one called X-Caliber which is virtually the same but has 22/12ga and made to accept their x-caliber inserts to shoot virtually everything else.

I suppose if you wanted to go even lighter and only carry 22, they also make the Little Badger. I like the idea of having a tiny, light weight 22 but in reality I don't know if I'd ever actually bother picking one up. Of all the guns I don't really need, these all seem high on the list.

pack rifle that first anon ITT mentioned fits the bill. as far as higher caliber folding guns, the kel-tec sub 2000 is a semiauto pistol caliber carbine that comes in either 9mm or .40s&w. i've seen shotshells in those calibers but idk if they'd feed or cycle the action

That's a terrible AR pistol.

Here's what you can do to remedy it:

>switch to a lightweight 10.5 barrel
>switch upper to a lightweight slickside upper
>switch handguard to C.A.R. handguard or one of the slim free floats with only the top rail
>keep those buis
>add at least a bushnell TRS 25 for an optic
>lose the bipod
>lose the flash can and get a proper flash hider/brake
>keep the sling or get a 2 point

>>
>>816763
Well anon you at want to sit down for this, but the truth is longer barrels do not enhance accuracy. The can allow for increased velocity which extends range, but at the risk of having worse harmonics (barrel whip). A shorter barrel of the same weight/profile will be stiffer than a longer barrel and thus potentially more consistent and therefore more accurate

If you want something thats light weight like pic I would recommend the gammo bullwisper .177 I get 1500fps on mine with great accuracy up to 100m depending on wind with flat tip plastic tail lethal brand rounds. Also you can carry 1500 pellets with you for long tripps with no weight issues and doesn't take up space compared to chamber fire rifles. Actually going to go look for rabbits now...
