Post your water wheels or any hydroelectric stuff you got
>>
Here is video of that wheel making some useful voltage.

I would like to try this too, just need a good location

Did you make this OP? How well does it work? What's the output voltage/current? What do you use it for?
>>
Very cool OP. Would like to know efficiencies, flow rate vs output, how you learnt how to do it.

Yeah I am generating about 24VDC @ 1 amp. I am using this mostly to charge my power tools and phone, and I can run spools of LED lights from it directly.
>>
>>696718
Thanks, Flow rate in this creek is pretty good, as you can see in the vid I am just using a small fraction of it. My grandfather introduced me to electronics at an early age. This project has just come together out of need. I will see if I can calculate some figures for you.

That is really cool, would like to make a vawt sometime as well

Nice, that's exactly what I want to reduce electric bill and for emergency situations. I was thinking about doing a solar panel thing

Dude saw your youtube video, are you okay in the head?
>>

Pretty neat.

I'd actually go with the vortex design that incorporates the vortex into the turbine design.

Is it un-/out/ of me that my first immediate impulse is to get a backhoe and upgrade to a hydroelectric dam?
>>
why is it so hard to find any good diy plans for this type of shit online
>>
>>699216
Because it is really easy to do, but people really don't care to post their "sekret stickin et tu da guvment devise" online.

I backed the Blue Freedom on Kickstarter a while back just cause I was interested to what it could actually do. Still haven't got it but its probably a meme piece of equipment

How hard is it to get some molds made for injected molded plastic, and to find some basic electric parts that'll fit into the plastic?

>he said, having no experience in manufacturing projects
>>
>>702095
How much did you pledge to this guy and what is the price point and power output supposed to be for that thing?
>>
>>702095
There's actually a few of these types of devices now.

>5v 5watts generator
>5v 5aH battery

It should have at least a 6v generator to make up for all the losses between the generator and the battery. 7v would be best. 5 watts is pretty much nothing at all. That's at least 6 hours of charging time for that battery, probably longer.

I'd probably have gone with a supercapacitor array instead of a battery plus a generator that put out more power. Then it would recharge in almost no time. The generator itself would have to be redesigned of course. It also needs a hand crank option. lol
