So I was able to find these Fjallraven Men's Vidda Pro Trousers Long, Dark Grey online for $70 bucks today. (random website had one pair left in my size) I really liked the idea of dedicated innawoods pants. I could never justify getting them before because they were just so damn overpriced.
I'm an amerifat so i'm hoping that the estimated size is actually right.
Looking good is half the battle so what are your slightly vain /out/ purchases?

Answer this question and not being an autist
>>680349
those pants are nordic god tier OP, you dun good
>>680349
These pants do look good OP, good job.
>>680374
these things are high quality and beat the hell out of tattered jeans.
The fact is that /out/wear that looks good looks good for a reason : They seems to get the job done.
Maybe they're shitty pants but it looks solid

Anyone that buys clothing designed specifically for "outdoor activities" is fucking retarded. Most large camping stores (pic related) are just fashion shops for weekend campers. If you can't go /out/ without being concerned about the latest fashion trends then you should consider killing yourself to death.

Little bitches are getting bent out of shape because OP is going to own these pants for a lifetime and look good doing it.
Probably mad that you're too overweight to find them in a size that would fit
>>680434
>(you)
>>680349
In no universe would I pay $70 for a pair of pants. That's just ridiculous.
>>680434
I never said anything bad about the pants, just op's desire to be fashionable
>Probably mad that you're too overweight to find them in a size that would fit
Project much?
Highjacking this thread to ask, what would be the best pant/boot combination to go innaswamp? I camp on the Everglades and usually just go in rubber boots and jeans but my feet get beat up and everything gets soaked when I have to wade
Dont wanna buy waders because I'll boil and they look fucking ridiculous
I'm thinking a good pair of waterproof hiking boots and waterproof pants should work but am not sure what to get
Why is everyone >implying OPs pants is simply a fashion choice. Those kinds of pants are objectively better to wear in the outdoors than jeans or some other urban pants. It's a much better experience.
Of course there are alternatives like cargo pants and milsurp, those are not too bad, but still a little inferior.
Does /out/ just camp in urban clothes or what?
I've had outdoor pants similar to this and it's worth it imo, it's an investment that will last a few years as well just like your boots, you don't want to walk around in crappy boots. The clothes are important as well.
I've been rocking a pair of the Duluth Firehouse pants and they've handled it all very well. A little stiff still but they still look brand new despite kneeling in red clay, sliding down a river bank, and going through a briar thickets on atv
for $70, I'd be all over them..jsut googled them to see if I could find a deal and I'll be passing @ the sales price of $114
>>680458
...literally most pairs of pants (outdoor or not) cost around 70$. stop shopping at walmart.
>>680792
maybe a pair of crocs
>>680798

Because

>>680458
Not all of us can have the soft refrigerator bodies that seem to fill out cheap cuts of trousers so well, anon.
>>680792
Unless they seal together somehow, like dry suit pants or somethin it isn't gonna work. You'll step knee high in water and it will go up the pant leg through the foot-hole, then into the boot from the top. Even with dry suit pants you'd end up with wet feet. Get hip waders if dry necessary. Get durable quick drying stuff otherwise.
>>680458
$70 is dirt cheap for pants that:
1) fit properly
2) last
3) serve purpose
4 - purely optional because IDGAF - look good.
>>680349
i've wanted a pair of those for a while, let me know how they are

>>680349
Serious question, are these things worth a shit?
Because the whole, "oh they're not water resistant but it's ok you can wax them" smells like bullshit to me. They look cool though.
>>682245
It's fucking polycotton. It's what everyone and their mother uses for outdoor pants. No idea about the waxing, but pants don't need to be waterproof anyway.
>>680349
Yeah, I have dedicated innawoods pants as well, I really love the internal knee pad pockets. I also bought the jacket to go with it.
290 bucks for a pair of pants is a small price to pay for looking fine and feeling comfortable innawoods.
>>680824
What? Umm, no they don't.
>>682281
Arc'teryx is in my opinion one of the few brands worth paying for, especially if they fit properly. Very well designed, functional and look good.

>$500 dollerydoos for a shell
>>682650
Around 500 euro is pretty much standard price for any top tier shell regardless of brand, at least here in Sweden.
I never thought I'd pay that much for a jacket, but I needed a new hard shell and I found one with a fit I liked. It have been my everyday jacket as well as hiking jacket for the last 5 years and is still going strong.
>>682638
Yeah dude, sucking dick while climbing a mountain is Fucking awesome. Not as good while skiing though, everything's shriveled up.
What's the most /fa/out/ backpack with hydration bladder pocket?
>>682908
I got a filson backpack with a laptop sleeve. It fits a 3 liter camelbak perfectly and I use it on day trips.
>>682908
You can put them in most that are outdoor brands i believe. I have an osprey that doubles as school and daytrip bag
>>680428
More like anyone who buys clothes for non-outdoor activities is retarded.
>>681804
Its not really marketing, in other countries. The backpacks are just very trendy right now and so from there other things clothing items
>>683726
>The backpacks are just very trendy right now
Yup
See them on a lot of students here, especially Asians
>>683746
it seems to me like the asian students research what the most expensive versions are of things and buy them as a sort of status symbol on college campuses. they all wear canada goose jackets all of the sudden this winter. and it's been mild as hell in the mid-atlantic region.
>>680391
She looks retarded
>>680428
But I like outdoor fashion, familamb :(
>>683912
>they all wear canada goose jackets all of the sudden this winter
Just this winter? They were wearing them when I was still in university a couple of years ago. It was the staple of the Asians, the JAPs, and the basic bitches.
>>680349
>your slightly vain /out/ purchases?
I have the vidda pros as well. They're worth it. Mine are holding up well after 2 years of abuse, they're the only pants I wear innawoods.
>>684015
Holy shit yes
>>682615
I have an arc'teryx fleece that is majestic. It was a gift (I couldn't pay that much for a pullover) but I really do love it pham
>>680814
The ultimate firehose pants go on sale for like $59 periodically. I have a couple pairs of them in various colors. Love those things.
>>682119
Looks like every other Henley I've ever seen. Bass pro sells them for 12.95
I don't understand, maybe I missed that post, but how is it that these are better and are they that much better that it justifies the price?
Why are they better that jeans? Why are they better than some regular cargos?
I mean, even in looks, they're just pants. They look good on those that look good to begin with, it's not gonna make difference out in the woods. Do people press their pants while camping?
Duluth firehose pants are 30% off today.
>>680458
>found the guy that always spam the Canada Goose threads with overpriced maymay
All you need m8.
>>688795
Some of it is hype, but it is - to some extend - justified. Besides being sewn with practical pockets and fit they're tougher than jeans. They're more wind proof than jeans. They're water-resistant where as jeans sucks moisture like a bitch. They dry fast where as jeans take hours to dry
>>688853
>not wearing 'surp
waste your money you fucking idiot.
>not wearing the most god tier of surplus outdoor gear
Not quite sure they're worth it yet but decided to drop $200 on trying Outlier's Slim Dungarees. They're touted as being "the 21st century jean" using a nylon blend that makes for durability (supposedly, have yet to wear them enough to agree/disagree) and comfort (reminds me of sweat pants, i never disliked jeans comfort), as well as quick drying. Got a couple of compliments when I was out wearing them (and i NEVER get complimented), but they are a rather slim fitting pant so your preference may vary.
>>680428
So what the fuck do you think I should camp in? My regular day to day work jeans? You mean like with fucking cotton?
No, funk you. I'm going to buy pants made with materials that are supposed to keep out moisture and trap my heat. Clothes "designed for the outdoors" are simply better clothes.
>>688795
Better materials and better stitching.
>>688881
Why are you angry?
These are my innawoods pants, prAna brions. can be regularly found on sale for $40. In the winter I wear them with some merino (backpacking) or poly (dayhiking/snow) long johns for warmth.
They weigh less than my wallet and allow for full freedom of movement as if I'm wearing shorts. They're also water resistant and extremely breathable, and they're stretchy enough to fit around a pair of boots. light and breathable enough to wear them instead of shorts in the heat of summer, which is great if you're traveling through town and need to look normal (they look exactly like a normal pair of jeans)
extremely big step up from wearing plebian cotton pants.
>>688795
few advantages:
Quick drying/waterproofness, can be a life or death difference for winter backpacking if you take a spill into snow and can't dry out before night.
Significantly lighter weight, cheap way to drop ounces on your pack weight.
Significantly more packable
Some of them zip off into shorts, more versatile without having to pack 2 things.
More breathable, less sweat
Typically not as warm as jeans, so you can layer w/ long johns for warmth while at camp and wear them alone while moving.
I think $300 pants are silly/vanity but I posted some cheap ones that do everything you could ever ask for above. If you're fat you can pretty much always find tech pants for $10 at thrift stores but its a lot harder to find slimmer / more modern cuts.
>>680355
I hate when people are too cool for school. Would not be surprised if you had Marmot, Mammut etc stickers completely covering the back of your vehicle. What if I told you my favorite Grateful Dead song was Touch Of Grey?

Any beanies you guys like? I was looking at the arcteryx and timberland pro ones. I like the look of the arcteryx and since I do falconry the name brand is kind of cool. But the timberlands just seem to have great form and price.
I like the logo of the Fjallraven ones but they just seem overpriced.
Any beanies or hats you guys like?
>>689769
While I was in Colorado a couple months ago I bought a 100% merino wool beanie by Coal, loved it. Until I was retarded, washed and dried it. So it shrunk. Now I'm looking for another nice wool beanie to buy.
>>689769
fur or wool senpai
>>689831
Preferably not fur. I'm not a huge fan I work at a wildlife refuge so anything fur will piss off bleeding hearts.
>>689847
that's perfect!
where can I get a traveller scarf?

They're called Shemaghs, and they're pretty damn great.

It's called a Shemagh. I just got mine today.

Just bought the Arc'teryx castlegar toque.
It's a 50% wool 50% acryllic beanie with a fleece earband. Wonder how it'll be since I'm a wool guy.
>>689989
I really want this Arc'teryx toque but I don't know if I have it in me right now to drop 35 on it. I'll probably sleep on it. It looks warm and that it will fit my head nice
>>690062
Check Backcountry.com, or amazon for it. They have it on sale. Unfortunatley they only have the green, blue, and the orange one. If only it had free shipping.
>>689769
Dead bird beanies tend to fit kind of tight on the head but they're nice.
Carhartt has some really nice beanies too, some of them have pull out face masks and stuff which is handy for the winter.
I'm looking for a nice packable nylon ball cap personally, I have long hair and beanies are too hot most of the year but I like to have something on my head and a little protection from sun glare.
Would your average army surplus store combat boots be good enough for 2-3 day hikes, or should I get dedicated hiking boots
>faggots think work pants that I use when crawling around in sawdust and god knows what else are fashionable
literally retards
>>690949
Good boots are always worth it, m9. Get proper hiking boots, or get lowas if you want military style hiking boots.
>>691313
You wear arcteryx pants as work pants?
