Used to make rum (brandy?) with brown sugar and raisins, good fun if you are an underage autist that can't make connections.

Used a gas burner though, way too much trouble trying to keep heat steady with wood. Learned the importance of cuts very fast after my first gallon of liquor tasted like ass but I was too cheap and impatient to throw it out.

That is a cool set up. What did you make your mash out of/what is the raw ingredients you used?

I've done a ton of distilling, but it was always in a lab. Every time I would think about doing this. Wanted to steal a set up, but it wouldn't have made sense considering at most I'd be making 500ml? More fun to build your own anyhow.

Throw the first couple ounces out and near the end put it into smaller containers while tasting the distillate to determine when it starts to taste weaker and then throw that out too.

You can blend them if you know what you're doing but I was going off library books and I never had alcohol until I made it myself.

Just google home distiller and they give a way better rundown than me.

The mash is bananas there was a pallet left over at a job I was working took them home and made 200 litres of hooch it tasted like shit so I made the the still and now I have ''rum'' I'm done for tonight got about 3 litres of Booz strong enough to burn from 25 of mash I have probably 7 runs left to do of the banana stuff it's going to be a drunk July for me I think need to think of a name for it now

Thumper double distills without the need to sit there all day and run the same batch twice to hit the same %.

Basically it's just a glass/copper jar attached before the condenser with 1/4-1/2 full of shine.

Run a hose from upstream to fill the top of the bucket.
Run another hose/valve at the bottom of the bucket to let the hot water out.
