>>
>>1020508
shitpost but i'll take

Last i went out I wore a cotton button down short sleeve, nike drifit running shorts, newbalance minimus trail runners, thin wool socks, a ballcap, a watch and deet. I carried a columbia micro-fleece, a frogg toggs rain jacket, a beanie, and longjohns style leggings and spare socks. I hiked for 3 days (50 miles) on the Appalachian trail in the new England area
>>
>>1020508

I love my Iron Rangers but I sure as hell wouldn't wear them for any serious /out/ing...I wear them fishing on my lunch breaks, does that count?

To answer the question: Asolo fugitive GTXs for years as a PMC but I think I will be getting Schnee's Granites or Scarpa Evolution 4s next. The Scarpas make more sense for me but the Granites are amazing but overkill for my area but I would get them to be prepared for any western hunting trips I might take in the future (hopeful thinking, heh) without having to spend money on loads of footwear.
>>
I wear nothing.

>>
>>1021354
I got two pairs for like 80% off.
They're really comfortable.
They're thicker than moccasins but just about the same feel wise, and they breath better.
Wearing boots all the time was giving me weak ankles and I was looking for options.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

>>

I actually like my Red Wings for hiking A LOT. I had the soles/tread replaced with a more flexible mid sole and nice grippy treads. Rub the outside with mink oil every now and then and they stay waterproof and breathable.
Full grain leather boots are underrated these days for hiking IMO, very much worth the cost because they are much more durable than meme synthetics. Almost all synthetic boots I've had and people I've known had lose their waterproofing in a year or two (even with sprays), goretex and other stuff just sucks compared to leather, and any sort of woven material gets fucked up by thorns and rocks. $300-400 for a pair of leather boots is worth it I think compared to $200-300 synthetic boots that don't last as long.

Couple months ago i got some Mini Mils by belleville and I love them. They are super comfortable after you take out the heel cup. They are almost zero drop and have a thin sole if you're into that. They're like armored socks. Might take you a while to get used to the minimal drop and sole but I will wear these until they don't make them anymore.

Fireboots anon, you are the saddest dude on 4chan I've ever met. The delusion is real. The need to boast has rotted you to the bone. The way you will stop at nothing to try to out compete other guys with lies and bullshittery is your defining characteristic. Hopefully someday, you'll wake up, stop shitting up this otherwise decent board. Then threads won't devolve like this into a bunch of us calling you a faggot. Maybe someday you'll realize you're just a shitty adult just like everyone else. You'll get worn down by life and realize we're just trying to enjoy ourselves and not listen to some punk kid talk out his ass.

Most of us are here to escape Reddit and embrace the anonymity. You're here because you couldn't hack it on Reddit and you have no choice. They flamed the shit out of you and so you're here because you think you're safe.

I've had fun he past few weeks. Every few days when I find time to get on the chinz, I find a thread I know you've been posting in- it's pretty easy to tell. Anyways, all I have to do is just say your name and you come running. It has worked 100% of the time.

You'll come around some day and look back on this time and cringe.

I feel like fireboots anon and naruto anon are the yin and yang of this board. They are opposites, yet they are inextricably linked, their chaos brings order to /out/. For the rest of eternity they will do battle with each other, never tiring or considering the consequences of their actions. Like Thor and Jormungandr, they will only be able to rest when the other is destroyed. As such, they are destined both to destroy the other and to consequently be destroyed.

I went for a walk wearing airy trail runners, thin cotton socks and underneath that polypropylene liner socks. These things feel thin and flimsy, I've never worn polypropylene before.
Massive rain came down and I cursed myself for wearing this stuff on my feet, I stepped in puddle and got my feet soaked.
But even with soaked cotton on my feet soon felt dry and warm. It felt like the polypropylene was aggressively pushing that water away from my feet.
What gives, /out/? I thought merino was king?

I spend every single day with absolute fucking studs that look like greek Gods who ruck 30+ miles some weekend days on their own time.
Studs with advanced training wearing lightweight uniforms, lightweight boots, and negligibly loaded rucks don't claim even close to your numbers.

You're literally claiming to be in better physical shape than most soldiers and even most olympians, as a 4chan rando.
And you've been claiming this for months; so you've either got advanced autism or really believe your story.
>>
>>1028105
The Army record for rucking a 12 miler (normal standard) is an 8 minute mile average.
Over even/stable ground in lightweight boots and ACUs.

You're telling me that in heavier boots, over uneven ground, and wearing heavy denim that will stick to your sweat you're running 2-3 minutes per mile faster than the fastest soldier to ever go through air assault school?

These are my usual /out/ shoes.
Cheap, and they're light, have lasted over a year, and dry quick(they're more like water shoes if it even mists outside).
I do think the arch support is a little much, it kind of messes up my gait if I'm not careful.
I prefer boots for mud, water, or for really long outings but these are perfect for the dry rocky stuff I'm usually clamoring around on.

It's much easier to do a 12 miler on a road than 6.5 miles on muddy mountain trails.

And fireboots and shitty jeans through the woods and mud more than make up for a relatively easy to hump 35lbs ruck strapped high and tight center mass.

>>
>>1034636
Where did you buy your pair?
And how is the sizing on them, do they run small, big?
>>
>>1034724
haha, I actually just bought a second pair today. Kommandostore restocked them yesterday and they're already selling out- true meme boots. These boots sell out at other sites too so don't feel like this is your only opportunity, but they're not always readily available either.

I bought a half size smaller, I'm also going with the best quality (there's three levels) vs. the mid quality I got last time. The ones in my closet are a little loose- great for thick socks. I want a pair that fits nicely with thin ones too. Even tho they were a bit loose they were fine for a hike I took earlier this year- not too many miles or too much gear but it was much better than I expected.

I think part of it comes from the euro sizes not exactly matching US sizes, and the fact that the guy(s) who wore them before were prolly carrying a lot of shit all day in them (swollen feet stretch boots).

I was debating whether or not to bring both a Fleece and a puffy. What ultimately swayed my decision was due to the large snow pack in the Sierras this year, which would likely mean a few nights of snow camping. I'm not sure my old 20 degree bag will cut it, so I'm bringing extra layers to be safe. We don't hit the trail for another month, so I'm keeping an eye on the weather and snow accumulations. Approach shoes were chosen because they are lightweight, and this particular model is said to be extra durable. Thanks for the feedback, though. I have never thru hiked before, so I will likely make plenty of beginner mistakes.

Meh, I wasn't trying to critique your gear so much as make a point to that asshole. It seemed fine to me. Tbh, you might be better off leaving one of the top layers behind and either having someone ship it to you or just getting a cheap fleece (hiker box maybe?) for that small section in the mountains.

Shoes are completely up to the user. If for some strange reason stilettos are optimal for you, they're optimal for you. You'll come to your own conclusions there. And will prolly talk about shoes alot w the other hikers.

I've gotta say tho- I wouldn't bring underwear. It's just another step between your balls and sweet sweet ventilation. If you do nothing else, bring some goldbond powder- DEFINITELY NOT THE EXTRA STRENGTH VERSION, and you'll thank me.

Or, you could just rock a penis gourd. They're the choice of elite /out/ists.
