I just went to a dirt road and achieved 1 decent power willy but struggling to get it in 2nd gear with clutch drop, it's a dirt/sand road that's pretty loose and my rear knobs are worn
That's with vacuum carb and 14:41 gearing. Stock is 15:41 which is impossible to power wheelie. I guess I need to work on pulling the bars without tipping to one side

i cut a little scoop out of plastic bottle, then i cleaned the shocks, ran the scoop thingy around the shocks and cleaned again

outer seal had lots of pitch black shit on them, the inner seal had yellow smudge, kinda like fine sand thats been in brake fluid or sumting

then i went for a good ride around city for 30km trip with lots of speed bumbs and at every stop i pumped the brakes bottoming them out

when i got home this is what they looked like, also ran a sheet of toilet paper and nothing

>>
>>17763688
No. The blast is a terrible bike. Its not exactly reliable, it vibrates more than a dildo, and as SOON as you learn to be even slightly competent on 2 wheels you have outgown it.
It is so bad, you would be better off with a ninja 250, a bike which I have had bad experiences with but still is miles, leagues and lightyears beyond the half a harley engined mongrel.
>>
>>17763697
I literally need it for like 2 months to learn to ride on it, and take my rider course. After that I'm gonna get rid of it, or keep it. I don't care how unreliable it is, I can fix things. Its cost is irrelevant to me, just what to know if 1500 is a fair price
>>
>>17763705
Just checked in my area, they are going for around 2 to 2.5k Cad for good/perfect condition ones with around 5-10k km on them. The clutch on yours is probably gonna be worn and the bike itself won't feel great from being dropped and abused so much. If money isn't really a concern get a decent condition sv650 for a couple grand off Craigslist, that way you might be more interested in riding since your bike won't be shafty as fuck

why do so many bikes make inconsistent noise in idle?
>>
>>17763855
Because they have a lumpy as fuck cam setup
like most high performance engines.
>>
>>17763855
unsynched carbs or EFI, also i guess smaller engines tend to react stronger to little hickups like uneven airflow in general.

no biggie, i like it, its a little like the growling of a predator.

i went full retard. the fault is fully on me, no excuses.

i was with my friend (he has 2017 MT09) and we found some twisties. we've got carried a bit, knee sliders got scraped and eventually i fucked it up at the left downhill corner and parked it underneath the guardrail. combination of lacking skills, going way too fast and target fixation (for the last second before the crash) did their job. i've got what i've been asking for.

left fork is bent, right is scrapped by the guardrail. i ordered both forks and then i'm going to the shop to get it properly measured. i just hope the fork brackets and the rim are untouched.

fender and windscreen are going to be donated to the local guitar picks factory. there are some scratches on the tank and on clutch and alternator covers.

i outsourced about 2170 dollars for the repairs (roughly converted from our change). the forks themselves are going to take half of the budget.

Its actually a GL500 Silverwing (CX500 engine, different everything else). I haven't had any major issues with it. That photo is a bit old at this point. Tossed the windscreen in the dumpster (too short for me a 6'3"), put new tires and such on it. Had some brake issues, basically age related owing to 1/4" of crud that had built up in the brake fluid reservoir. Got it for $250 with 19k on it, have put about 3k on it in the last two months. Slight coolant leak from one fitting that isn't worth the trouble of fixing, and the front forks lose air pressure over-night (don't think the CX had air assist). Overall it has been great.

just because forks got bent? it doesn't look that grave to call her off. i'll be wiser once mechs at the shop will measure it properly, especially the frame.

there are those bumps on the each side of the frame which usually get rekt during hard crash by fork clamps. those are untouched on mine, that is a good sign.

the engine runs well, actually i carefully rode it for the rest of the way to the nearest gas station where i waited for the pick up, walking speed of course.

This one is only a few weeks old out of crate but it's my DD

I'm trying my hardest to baby this one since I trashed the last one - cleaning every couple days with insect remover and protect all. Also parking it out of the sun as much as possible.

I'm sure come winter I'll give up and stop giving a fuck though.

The stock pipes were pretty garbage as far as sound goes. I took them off and put on some basic exhaust tips with small baffles inserted for backpressure. Basically, it's nearly straight piped and sounds like a harley at idle but roars at high RPMs. I really enjoy the sound. Will try to cook up a webm with sound for the dbt webm thread.

Wasn't me. But he has a valid point. Lane splitting, flexibility is the entire reason to deploy a motorcycle. The BMW and HD models have essentially zero off road capability. The BMW is wide, heavy, and has such a poor reliability standard that CHP has sued it's former BMW supplier

The Zero, besides being US made, qualifying for grants and credits, is a more capable all-around motorcycle.

I have to wonder how well that will actually work considering the range on electric bikes. Don't they only do like 100ish miles before needing to be recharged? Seems like it could end up wasting a lot of time even just riding back to the station to get a fully charged one.
>>
>>17765591
I'm sorry but what?
Some ad made with light dirt does not make it off road capable. Marketers could probably sell you anything.
If being small in width is it's biggest asset there are a lot more cheaper more known reliable bikes that would fit the bill.
The biggest issue as well it's range especially with all the police electricals which is not addressed, especially if it's traveling at anything resembling highway speeds.

yes I did. They cut some weight from the frame, they claim it's now stiffer (and who know, that may be true). The major, defining change to the frame is that the shock is now under the seat.

The rest of the text was about the engines, etc. Yes, they have a 4-valve. Yes, they are water-cooling the damn bridge between the fucking valves. Yes, HD has been a 2-valve all this time because they couldn't figure out how to make an air-cooled head that wouldn't crack at the bridge. Yes, the new engine will overheat your oil as it passes around the bridge and cause gelling. And when your engine is toast they will deny warranty because you used shit oil and they will be right.

the date code will be stamped on the side of the tire. Google will tell you how to tell how old it is.

WSBK changed their rules so v-twins didn't get a displacement advantage anymore.
The large high strung twins are godbikes on the street but they can't really compete against I4's and V4's on the track if they're the same size.

It also wasn't the best one of its class, people just love it because it's a Honda.

I've entertained the idea, but so far not very seriously. I love the bike, but it honestly feels a bit small for me at this point, especially for my legs. The seat also sucks for anything more than a two hour ride.

I'm thinking about getting an FJ-09 or maybe a cruiser such as a Scout or new 2018 Softail, though I shudder at the thought of being a "Harley Guy". Like 50% of the Harley riders I've met have been total assholes most of which in their midlife crisis. I'd hate to join that crowd of idiots.

Not sure what to think about this gauge cluster on the Street Bob. Part of me likes the more minimalist approach, most of me wants at least an analog tachometer. Not sure how useful this tiny little screen would be in reality, though the addition of a fuel level gauge is nice.

>>17766700
Yeah at 5'7" 125 lbs I think the FZ-07 will be a perfect match for you. I'm 6' 215 lbs and the bike is a bit small for me, though it's perfectly fine commuting and doing lighter riding on.
>>
So I got a bike recently and am still pretty new to it, have a few concerns.
Should I not be down shifting multiple gears with a single clutch pull? If im approaching a stop, ill hold down the clutch and break while shifting down when im at the appropriate speed for that gear until I get to first. Some people have said that its completely fine and others have told me its terrible, im fucking confused.
>>
>>17766710
>5'7" 125 lbs
post your cute twink boipussy
>>
>>17766737
It mostly depends on the situation. I'd say never down shift more than needed for the given speed you're at while decelerating. So let's say the light in front of you just turned yellow so you know it'll be red for a while and you have to come to a complete stop. DO NOT simply hold the clutch in and shift down through the gears into first or neutral before you come to a stop. DO down shift one or two gears at a time as needed, stay in that gear until you decelerate enough to be in the next lowest gear, etc.

This is because if you downshift to first or neutral immediately upon approach to a stop ahead, if something happens and you need to GTFO of there you'll be fucked. If you always stay in the range of gears you'd need apply throttle in any given situation, that's much safer.

Also avoids embarrassment. I've seen a few riders come up to a stop from a high speed section of road and before they get to the stop they shift all the way down to first anticipating the stop ahead, then the light turns green on them and they scramble to get their bike in the right gear for their speed and fumble around with their gears. It's awkward and pointless.
>>
>>17766737
>hold down the clutch and break while shifting down
>break while shifting
I think you mean brake anon. Break means your bike is a shitbike.
>>
>>17766737
It's not going to hurt anything but it's a habit you should try to break. Start practicing rev-matching your downshifts and the bike will smoothly slow down enough through engine braking that you barely even need to touch the brakes. Also, it just sounds cool when you get it right.
>>
>>17766775
Not him, but fuck me if rev matching is hard to master on certain bikes. I've ridden some V twins and they were all super easy to rev match right off the bat. My FZ-07 though is a bitch to rev match just right. I either apply too much throttle and jerk forward or not enough throttle and chirp my rear tire. It's awkward as fuck and I don't know why I have so much trouble rev matching my own bike, but others I can do no problem.
>>
>>17766793

Just started riding this week. So far everything is going smoothly, but I've been testing the waters in my neighborhood only for now. Going to dive into some local back roads Friday morning.
>>
>>17766737
I shift down to 2nd with the clutch pulled in till I almost get to a stop and place it in neutral.
I don't use the engine braking much, and I usually don't rev match unless it is before a corner.
My bike has a somewhat antiquated transmission, so this gives me time in case I have to coerce it into shifting.
>>
>>17766793
Haven't ridden an FZ-07 but I've had a Street Triple 675 w/o slipper clutch and a 765 now with slipper clutch and neither were too hard to figure out. I really only started doing it because I love the sound the triple makes on downshifts and now its just become habit.

I am looking for a good getaway bike for under 2k, it needs to handle decently at speed on a motorway and, also to handle itself off roads/trails. 20% Motorway, 40% Secondary roads/twisties/40% Off road.

I have concluded the answer is likely to be a modded DR650. What's your opinion?

A Rekluse is simply an auto blipper quick shifter without the blipping. You can still manually blip and clutch if you want to as well it's not like a DCT.

Also

Certain bikes come from factory with it or as an OEM option. Afaik others can be ECU flashed with aftermarket (Yamaha comes to mind)
