that little joint could get crusty if grit and grime gets in there, but it's not like your engine is about to seize or any other sort of critical failure.

Took the MSF advanced riders course today, as it is required by the military. Learned the 696 can fucking divebomb into corners/swerves, had a blast ripping it around cones. Engine definitely didn't like lugging behind everyone who was going super slow, but it was good practice.

Not yet, it's a BMW. The engine outlasts the rest of the bike usually.
Might need to look at another end-drive though and new calipers, master cylinder, valve covers, handle bar controls and exhaust.

I weigh about 130 burgers.
My bike weighs about 375 burgers.
I haven't dropped her yet and hopefully never will (jekk Alla jrid) but if I do, I don't really want to learn how to pick her up by trial and error while I'm bleeding and with Stacy, Erica and Kaitlyn watching.

What's the best way to tip over my bike (sv650s) and pick it back up without injuring it? Pic unrelated.

With a mat. There's a couple of methods for picking bikes by either pushing backwards while gripping the locked bars and a piece is the frame or by leveraging the bike vertically with the bars. You want to avoid using your back of course.

A lot of advanced rider training courses get you to do it with your own bike or fuck huge beasts like r1200rtp
>>
>>17736596
>SV650
If its dropped, you will never pick it back up.
Suzukis weigh as much as the earths core.
Its a good thing they dont produce any power. Otherwise they would throw the earth out of rotation.
>>
>>17736596

If it's got frame sliders then you can just set it down gently. In theory, even without them, you can slowly let it down and not cause damage. That's a risk, though.

I would say practice a way of letting it down easy while supporting it. In theory, if you can let it down under full control, you can probably pick it up in the same way. Most people either put their back to it and lift with their legs, or squat down and pick it up kinda in a power clean type motion.
>>
>>17736484
That's what I was thinking too.

I might just uss it as a pot plant decoration or something..

Atleast if I started with just a frame novody could conplain that I ruined a classic bike by doing what I want with it though.

not gonna change my shitbike for a shitbike with less power.

Next one is gonna be in the 7000 bucks range and 120hp+
>>
>>17737671
I've been riding an xl250 for about 2 years, but that's only around the farm. For my Ls test, I had to do a mandatory 2 day test and road a z300s which felt pretty good.

4k is a fair price for a '16 sv650.

Can't imagine you having much difficulty selling it for that. Maybe try to get that dent pulled.

Disgusting.

its a 750, it always has a 4-1
>>
>>17737705
Yeah I even tried getting it to those "dent doctors" but they don't seem to even wanna try motorcycle tanks for some reason.

I know it will sell eventually, at this point I'm practically getting robbed. But I'm on a bit of a clock since I have a large tour with my father coming up in a week and if I have to do that on my SV my knee's will pop.

That's not telling at all...

You don't need a hear indicator. There are only two gears: "The right one" and everything else.

Otherwise, it's useable throughout the powerband, extremely fuel efficient, stupidly easy to work on, parts are everywhere, and it has better fit/finish than any other starter on the market.

...it's almost like Honda wants customers to buy another of their bikes.
Not that you'll absolutely need to. More hardcore owners are starting to push the 100k mile mark on their 500 twins.

Oh, and it comes in four flavors. You'll never run out of spare parts.
(Related, the older three--now including the Rebel)
>>
>>17737713
so what? You buying a GS1200 instead?
>>
>>17737708
Oh, I don't think we got the unfaired 750 in the states but I may be wrong.
>>
>>17737713
Oh right, probably aliminium.

Sv that uncomfortable? Thought it had pretty accommodating ergos.

You tall?

it doesn't even have cheap and easy maintenance to make up for it

"Sport Tourer" became a thing, it stopped being necessary to keep everything cutting edge.
From the fourth generation onward, VFR became a technological showcase machine, not a race contender.
>>
>>17737729
No idea why people like them so much, maybe because it has a V4..
FZ6 is better in nearly every way but nobody really lusts over an FZ6.

I an talking about 70's cb550s.

The more I try research the idea of building a retro bike from just a frame the more fucked of an idea it sounds like...

Also not done building my honda crx.

Want a MT-07 as a first bike but anyone else think they're too expensive for what you get.

A sorted one is €5000. I could get a street triple for that. With high end shocks, nice bars and other goodies. Or Sv anon's sv with a bunch to spare on charizard holos. .

My tigger isn't that fun. Good bike. But too expensive for someone like me. And it isn't great to ride a fast bike slow.

>>17737719
Nah, MT09.
I got a good offer on a 2017 model and I'm just waiting for this one to be sold off so I can pull the trigger
>>17737728
Yeah I have 84cm/32" inseam and it's killing my knees after an hour or two.

Only used to ride in the city with it so that was never a problem
>>
>>17737754
so git a ER6-N or SV650 or something

Winters going to hit before you know it. You'll be happy you're not shiny and vulnerable.
>>17737359
In general, cheaper. Unless you buy BMW.
>>17737165
There's an entire branch of chopper culture based around buying an engine and making the rest up as you build around it.
Cafefags have been known to do the opposite, and cram weird engines into cb500 frames.
...so fuck yourself.

Don't like the new one. Maybe get the 2nd gen and keep the rest in change but that has become quite an old bike by now.

Quite upright actually, and much less knee angle.
Still sporty due to my size, probably more of a sumo for most others.

I'm 6'4 /195cm with a 34' inseam.Only the mt-07 and cbf650 fit out of the box. With the latter lacking a bit of joie de vivre. As of all hondas of late. They have grown incredibly dull and safe. Regardless of the class.

Yeah the only nakeds that felt right were the SuperDuke1290R and (thankfully) the MT09.

I thought the 1970's honda CB's were like the number 1 hipster bike.

Can't find much info on even fitting alternative gas tanks and seats.

Am I looking for info wrong?
>>
>>17737799
Because the top hipster bikes are, in order:
R80
R65
Cx500
Xvs
K75/100
>>
Why are these more popular?
>>
>>17737754
Yeah buy my SV, she'll serve you will and she's a blast.
12k km on the clock, 12k service done just last week.
Tuck'n'Roll seat, crash bars and a bugshield.

I rode the MT07 as well and I have to say I was not impressed. Maybe I was biased but it felt...flat. Kinda lame and at the same time sort of unstable?
Especially strange because I instantly felt comfortable on it's bigger brother
But maybe it was just a matter of suspension adjustments, who knows.
>>
>>17737793
Haven't really considered that. Bit hesitant to get into italo-bikes. Had some bad experiences with them in the past. How are they for reliability.
