regular is usually 87. premium is usually 93. Or are you using unamerican octane ratings?
>>
Welp, I've sprayed the shit out of the carburetor insides and forced some cleaner straight through both jets. It's back together but it's too dark already to install it back on the bike now. I have a bad feeling about this whole thing, the carburetor insides looked absolutely immaculate, and even the fuel mixture screw that I unplugged wasn't that much out of spec. I feel that I've accomplished nothing, but between this and air leak, which I did not find, I have no more clues as to why it ran so fucking lean.

At least I'll have an exposed mixture screw this time.

It'd be easier to say what hasn't been done to it. I think the only thing that is stock on it is the transmission, rear suspension, and frame. It used to have the stock headlight assembly but I lowsided into a ravine and completely trashed the front end.

It gets up to a terrifying 80mph though.

I got it in black. Doesn't revzilla ship to Canada? You get $30 cashback on it and free shipping. I plan to show it off next bike meetup I go to, I ordered too many c02 canisters. The SPIDI vest says you need to send it for inspection after 5 uses though but it's more for abrasion and puncture reasons.

I don't know what the fuck I'm doing with my life man. My friends are all out riding and I'm staying indoors with a suicidal girlfriend, no job, no school, and my ex's financed bike with $5000 left to pay off on it.

It honestly takes more work than its worth to get it to where it is right now. I bought it from a guy who did 90 percent of the work involved but had an accidental child (lmao) and had to sell it.

It has a 186cc finbro kit with a forged piston and everything that goes along with that, a 16t front sprocket, kitaco clutch cover (eliminates fuckhuge oil spinner attached to the crank), werkes racing exhaust, chimera ram air intake, and a host of little cosmetic things.

A few friends have mostly stock groms and we all have a ton of fun. Mine is the only one suited for open highway travel though, and even then it can only do it for bursts of 30 minutes or so before engine temps climb to easing off the throttle levels.

Reflective always. Unless you're a loser with no night life. I can rec a seller on Amazon for reflective, they're $30 though an obvious ripoff but the quality is top notch.

If you op non-reflective though you can get tapered or multicolored or some other special snowflake gay shit. For both you can also specify the thickness, imo thicker the better.

how important is ABS for a complete newbie rider? I found a used 2013 CBR250 from a dealer with regular ol brakes. it's really close, cheaper than any other listings I've found, and it's that slick white/blue/red Honda livery
on the other hand I don't wanna fuck myself or the bike up if the skid demon gets me because skrublord rider and no ABS. what do I do boys

literally how. It's all leverage. you put your right foot on the stand, grab the back part of the bike and kinda rock it back onto the stand. I've seen 100lb girls lift 600lb bikes no problem. You're not trying to lift the damn thing straight up, are you?

abs is pretty nonessential
unless you are constantly riding in rain/slick conditions you will be hard pressed to ever use it unless you constantly jam on the rear brakes like a retard
>>
>>17671451
Usually you gain almost no power, and you will probably need a tune to make it run right after that.
The bike will sound better though.
Just look and see what slip ons do to other bikes power wise.
>>
>>17671495
>>17671452
abs will also prevent stoppies/endos from mashing the front brakes
>>
>>17671452
As long as you use proper technique when braking abs is not necessary in "oh shit" moments. Abs is most helpful when people don't know what they are doing and only grab a handful of front brake. Normally then they would endo, but abs can prevent that.
>>
>>17671500
>>17671503
Newbies locking up the front brake is pretty rare.
Generally they crash from locking up the rear, and having abs is a good safety net for that, but no substitute for learning proper braking

That's not going to happen on a CBR250R. I had one.

>>17671452
I owned a 2012 CBR250R. Hated the look of it and ended up customizing it extensively. I'd personally say go for ABS if you can afford it but dont let it break a deal. When you're looking at listings also also consider any aftermarket mods like exhaust pipes and frame sliders. You'll end up wanting to spend the money for those eventually anyway. I paid 3500 for my 2012 CBR back in 2015 but it came with a 600$ pipe and frame sliders. I couldn't have lived without the pipe because lolsquid. You should be more concerned about the condition it's in. Have someone who knows about cars/bikes come with you.
>>
>>17671497
Damn, alright. I certainly like the sound of the slip ons but more power would be nice. Trying to decide what to spend the money on
>>
>>17671536
I know. That's why I asked.

ABS is a safety feature, modern ABS on bikes is pretty damn good. If you can afford it you would be dumb to not have it, regardless of what the two Valentino's have to say. There are a multitude of things that can happen where it will save your ass for regardless of your skill level. If you look at it in a pure dollar spent issue dropping your bike even once at low speed it will cost more to fix your bike than the ABS cost in the first place. Then there's that possibility that you get hurt, how much would you pay to NOT have an injury after you have done it.

Whether you are a noob or not has no relevance, folks that have been riding for decades still have bad shit happen.

It means bikes are bikes. Especially when used appropriately.
Small Honda is best for commuting. You probably were on long sweepers or straights when at home, so cruiser is ideal.

I, personally, am only upgrading to the 500 twin. I commute year round, and do tours long enough for gas mileage to be a limiting factor.
I just hope next year they start offering round lights so I can keep my favorite fairing. Otherwise my first action will be voiding the warranty.

dbt what is the best lams approved bike for someone that does not want to restrict a 650?
If i get a 650 im going get rid of the restrictor and that means the bike is no longer lams approved so what options are there for someone that just wants a bike as is?
From what i can see it is bikes like the cbr500.

Is the cbr500 a decent bike that won't become boring over 3 years of use?
i feel like it is built for a market that is not Australia.

People get too relaxed riding after the 2 year period. Maybe they get into track and twisties or buy a bigger bike. As for multiplying eachother don't even bother, there's no way it works like that. Take it with a grain of salt of general indication that you should get your ass professionally taught. MSF/MSS hardly counts since they give you like 6 hours on the field.

Big part of why I recommend everyone find their local motorcycle clubs on meetup or facebook ASAP and suck some biker dick. Plus shits fun and a guaranteed cure for depression and loneliness.

Anime girls learner bike.
I have had mine for coming up 4 years now,
They are on the limit of power to weight for LAMS bikes, plenty of power where it is needed (between 80-160kmh it pulls better than most v8 cars) and they will keep going up until around 220kmh.
They have great handling (very predictable is the best way to describe it) with adjustable suspension and very good brakes with the option of ABS or no ABS depending on your personal preference and then to top it all off they have awesome fuel economy especially if geared 14/42 because of muh vtec.

With all that considered a 2nd hand cb400sf is going for about the same price as a 2nd hand cbr500 on gumtree with the same kilometers only one is a better bike in every way possible.

Nakeds lack wind protection, seat comfort, and factory luggage that these bikes have as they're designed for touring - often two up.
Dirt is a secondary focus if at all for many in this class. My XR has 17" wheels and stiff suspension so there's no pretense there.

How do you want to be crossing the country, then?
Straight line: Valkrie, full dress. GW is nice, but all that extra crap is just too much.
Twisties: VFR1200. It's got the weight and posture to handle the whole trip, but leans like a beast. DCT is an option, not requirement.
Desert nomad: Africa Twin. Great in the sand. Great in the mud. Competent on a trail.
Space scooter: NM4. Most efficient in it's family, built in storage, super low slung. It's like a helix from the year 2980.
Tightwad special: CB500F. It's versatile, gets roughly 80 mpg. Costs as little as 3500 used. The p-twin is indestructible. Toss a corbin and bags on that bitch, and you're set. Also tourquey enough for stunting.

To be frank, I am a fan. But for good reason. All my hobby riding is 2-600 mile daytours, usually over some mountain or another. And if it's not snow, I'm probably commuting through it. I need a bike that can survive whatever conditions I put it through; have the maintenance be put off for 1-3k at a time; start right up after crashing; do terrain it's not designed for; and then run up to 300 miles home if something does break.
Only two manufacturers anticipate this kind of abuse. And Suzuki's build quality sucks.

So long as you use in-ear earphones, 20~db ambient reduction is a lot. Just be careful to not overblast the beats and get deafness from both sheer wind and objectively bad genres.

Not all certifications are created equal and you usually pay for comfort and sound
You should get something fece certified and then look at independent tests anyway

Look at it a different way - why would you ever take the risk of your sentience over a days wages?
>>
>>17672226
Whatever reduction your plugs give you, you're going to blasting over ambient the same levels and some, I personally don't see the advantage at all.

If you don't like them, you don't like them - but you're basically sidestepping the point of earplugs.

>so you put in earplugs and then use a headset

You're confusing me with el cheapo grande brain bucket further up.
In-ear headphones have a passive ambient noise reduction, so with quiet music you're winning. Wearing earplugs to cut out noise and then reintroducing it with an external noise source that is battling with sheer wind is just pure nonsense. You're trying to out-noise the noise you intend to block with earplugs in the first place.

Like setting your house on fire so you don't accidentally set it on fire first. Nonsense.

I use motomuck and it specifically states to spray it on while the bike is dry, don't dilute with a film of water. Let it soak in for 20 or so, then go fuckin hard with the hose on full tit.

I never get splotches, but I do drown my bike in silicone spray once it's dried.

i got a £50 helmet, very comfortable and has all the safety marks/specs on it. It has pretty bad finish and wind noise protection, but I don't care if it has chips/scratches in the finish and I just use earplugs.

I used to go with in-earbuds but the ones I had did not block enough noise. Then I started using customised earplugs and bluetooth speakers, but I lost the plugs. Now I use generic foam earplugs with bluetooth speakers and it works fine. Next year I will upgrade to customised earplugs that have built in speakers like racing drivers and musicians use.

Earplugs and speakers being 'pure nonsense' is rubbish. My audio quality is fine and it is no more damaging than using in-ear buds.
