Do you mean while stopped? Transmissions don't always like to shift when stopped and the clutch pulled in, let it out just to the friction point where you start to feel it pull forward and it should pop in.

no, but from what ive read online the pre2017 fireblade is really smooth and easy to ride on public roads, lots of people say its lacking power. Just asking if the extra sp money is worth it desu.

Anyone have experience securing a bike to apartment porch? I may chain it to the water meter. There are also anchor points that one could put into the concrete, but I don't know how pissed the complex management would be. Any suggestions?

>>

>>
>>17665012
it's more like buying a ride-on mower when you need to mow one field and a small front yard instead of 2 mowers for each job. The ride on one can do the small one, and excel at the big field.
>>
>>17665036
No. A riding mower is practical.
A sport bike is not. Hence the jet.
>>
>>17665031
Just ask the property manager if you can out an anchor in the lot, and offer to have it refilled when you move out.
>>
>>17665041
A sportbike is practical for sport riding.
>>
>>17665041
Its practical when youre not commuting, like in the twisties.
Not everyone wants 2 bikes anon, and some of us arent weak like you and can commute on a sportsbike.
>>
>>17665012
I would daily the shit out of a jet if I could afford it, but I can't so I daily a superbike.
>>
>>17665047
So not on the street.
Correct.
A jet is practical for flying. Not trimming grass.
>>
>>17664997
I'm the second owner but I've only put about 1000 miles on it for a total of just over 6k. I did have a nasty habit of resting my foot on the shifter that I broke pretty recently, I wonder if that did damage to the forks.
>>
>>17665055
It can still do it with slight discomfort, how is a jet going to mow the lawn?

Your analogy is shit and you're retarded, last reply you're getting from me.
>>
>>17665062
>hes never seen a jet at 110% throttle
Wew
Sportbike fags are truly retarded
>>
>>17665041
How is a sportbike less practical than any other bike?

It may be more expensive, as all bigger bikes are (also you can get a GSXR125), but it's not really less practical. You can bracket all your luggage, GPS mounts, and cup holders to one the same as some fucking "naked standard". Some of the brackets might need to be custom made, but with how much people charge for small pieces of bike specific metal, it might actually be cheaper than buying a givi monokey adventure sidecase rack for your F800.

>>17665055
Is the street empty?
Did you do a sighting run for road hazards?
Are you okay with lowsiding off a cliff or into a retaining wall?

You can ride hard on the street.

A sport bike is plenty practical, stop being a bitch.
>>
>>17665068
That's not even the full extent of what you can do with a sportbike. I've seen one otufitted with side bags, a tail bag, a tank bag, a GPS mount, and then a bunch of other shit bugnee corded to the rear luggage clusterfuck (with no additional attachments to the bike except for two cords going to the grab rails so i guess it could all come off as one unit).

Bikes are bikes. The only two disadvantages sportbikes have are comfort and cost. If you are fit and rich enough, why the fuck not?

So I ordered silver levers with red adjusters and the chinese ebay seller sent me the wrong ones..
By a stroke of luck they actually fit the colour scheme of my bike but they look pretty douchey to me.
They seem like they should be on a flame wrapped hayabusa or something, although when I held them up to the bike they don't seem so bad.

What do you guys think though, should I use them anyways? They're the black and red ones obviously
>>
>>17665081
Hmm, they don't come in 160, only 150/70 and 170/60.
170 will have probably have a larger contact patch for the harder rubber, but might make turn in shitty.
Hmm...

Been riding a few years now. I'm after a more entertaining, more demanding streetbike. So I'm looking for something higher specced than damping rod forks and low revving power delivery, but the bike itself still has to be highly practical for daily use, so:
>luggage hooks
>center stand
>wind protection
>easy maint
is a must.
I was thinking maybe a vfr800 or a buel xb12xt, but the viffer is too complex and the sporster engine spoils the buell.
>>
>>17665204
they fit the bike
I prefer plain or anodized metal myself
>>
>>17665215
VFR800s have no luggage hooks, just grab rails (if the PO didn't lose them). You're meant to use hard panniers. They also have complex maintenance for everything but chain adjustments and rear wheel replacements.
>>
>>17665215
According to /dbt/ you need a hayabusa
Or anything 1000cc or greater.
Cuz you will ALWAYS use 150hp+ getting to 35mph on your way to work.
>>
>>17665216
Yeah, same here. I emailed the company, hopefully they'll send the right ones and I can keep these ones anyways.
>>
My dad found this picture of all his bikes from when I was a kid, thought /dbt/ might like it.
>>
>>17665220
Some of us don't live in metropolitan niggertowns and can go 75mph (legally) or higher (i don't see any cops and i'm running in-state plates)
>>
>>17665215
VFR's are surprisingly heavy.

If you're young and fit just get a supersport and put a bigger windscreen and maybe higher bars on it. Center stands are a meme, get a net for the rear and/or a backpack.

You mentioned performance suspension, otherwise I would have recommended a liter standard like an FZ1 or Z1000.
>>
>>17665215
FZ1 or FZ6 maybe? They don't have luggage racks, just grab bars that you can strap stuff to if there's an emergency but they match everything else.
>>
>>17665042
Like a parking space? The lot is usually packed, but it can't hurt to ask, I suppose. Ideally, I'd like it on the porch specifically because my porch is 10ft from the lot and I can just hop the curb and be right at my door. My bedroom is right next to it with a window, too. Someone already tried to steal it once, so the peace of mind of knowing that I'd hear/see them is a big motivator for it.

The reason they exist is because of poverty after WW2, people only had motorcycles but still had to move the family around. IIRC the layout is more stable than a trike or trailer setup.

chains last a long ass time if you take care of them, and you can spend what you want on tires, as far as long distance or high performance

A 180 rear and 530 chain on a sportbike are going to cost more than smaller equipment no matter what

More on the T7 everyone is expecting to be a KTM killer

>As well as the suspension, the final production bike’s brakes will be changed, with a second disc expected to be added, along with ABS. The bodywork will, of course, be plastic rather than carbon fibre, and the fuel tank is expected to be remade in either plastic or steel. The tank is likely to grow, too, to improve the overall range, which along with the lower seat will shift the bike’s proportions away from the rally campaigner look of the prototype and towards a more adventure-tourer style.

I don't like it, at least the busa looks pretty decent when you put a gsxr 1000 tail on it, but the zx14 would look fat regardless

uhh, 3k? same as i'd pay for a shitbox civic or something. my only experience with motorcycles are the dirtbikes i rode as a teenager. i've sat on sportbikes and the way you are positioned feels weird, so i don't think thats what i want. i don't want some xbox huge hog either.

Is this your first bike? Ninja 500s and GS500s are cheap.
>>
>>17665602
>this bike is ugly but with a few simple mods....

Nobody ever tells you how complex and expensive a few simple mods can actually be. Fabricate or buy this and that bracket to relocate this and that, get the clean parts you need in the first place, replace this and that stock thing with these things from other bikes, repaint, etc.
>>
>>17665611
>first bike
yeah, i guess. like i said, i had a couple dirtbikes back in the day so i don't know if that qualifies.

i'll look into that GS500. are they easy to wrench on?
>>
>>17665624
Yes, ancient ass carbed parallel twins are piss easy to wrench on.

Taking the front fairing off a ninja 500 is a bit of a PTIA though (read: major PITA, expect to scratch something)

there are better bikes to spend $900 and a few hours of fuckery on, like every modern naked ever (they all need new headlights)
>>
>>17665602
original tail looks better. it looks too fron-heavy with the slim tail. at least the stock tail looks equally thicc everywhere.

At this point you're probably better off waiting until the end of the season. You'll likely be able to find some pretty good deals as dealerships try and free up space and owners sell off bikes they don't want to store for the summer. If you can snag a naked like the FZ07, CB500F, it'll be a nice comfy bike while still being fast.

Or, get a deal on one of the billion used sport bikes out there. Ninja 250, 300, 500, anything you can find in that price range will be great for a beginner bike.

Or just buy a GSXRBRO

Accelerating quickly for a 600 is much faster than most cars. Accelerating below 8k is still faster than most cars, and you're at 5k from 4k in less than a second. Just don't sick the throttle all the way open first thing or the engine will complain.

600s are not slow bikes. The only people who say so are either liter riders or 500/650 twin kiddos parroting liter riders.

You go to a dealer and finance a CBR 1000 RR or some shit for barely any cash from your shitty warehouse job, then ride around like a faggot laughing at how you're faster than everyone whilst not maintaining your shit and riding on bald tires. I was never taught anything about music besides how to play brass, so I guess I missed copyright infringement class. Money can buy anything, though, even curriculum. Sounds like you would enjoy the Harley culture

I have the same problem. I have to choose between an FZ6 or an SV650. Both have their up- and downsides, and I don't know which outweigh the others

>>17667031
lol don't get me started on that

I'm sorry you have a problem with people who enjoy their hobby.

there arent to many Vtwin sport-bikes aside from KTM and Ducati.

Its also the best design Buell ever produced and it has some of the unique design elements hes known for. If its all the same price and i had to choose between SuperDuke, Ducati Monster 1200 and the SX i think id favor the SX.

The tank in the frame, the "inside out" brakes with that massive 8-piston caliper, the frame geometry and suspension all make it very interesting.

Also just love 2-pipes in 1 muffler exhausts.

Trust me, I know enough people that have harleys/try to live out the american cruiser lifestyle, and they seem to be the ones that have a problem with people that don't own these types of "bikes"

That's a hard choice, desu.

I'd probably pick the fazer for weekends but SV for daily duty.

I mean the FZ does have ~25 hp more, but it's all top end. I have been riding a thumper for the last 2 years, so I'd really like to have something I could wring out a bit, but the SV is probably the more sensible (and economical) choice

And I slightly prefer the FZ6Ns visuals

Well, if you've been riding a thumper all your life, I'd probably go with the fazer then.
I went from a 400 single to a 250 I4 to a 1000 twin then down to a 600 I4.
It's always great riding the wave up until redline, but there is something about a twin/single that pulling your arms off like a gorilla at idle that never gets old.

Personal opinion, I guess. Ride them all then buy one.
>>

>economy

seriously? Also i doubt there is much difference given how they are both about 600CC, if you dont push the FZ it wont use more gas.

And of course its top-end. Thats where you have fun.

Let's say I wanted to be a homeless vagrant traveling the states on a motorcycle. And let's say I am a pretty good mechanic. What bike would you recommend to me? Neither of those things are true, but I have similar requirements. I want something that:

is easy to work on, without specialist tools
will run forever if it's taken good care of
doesn't drink gas and oil like it's kool-aid

Those are really the only major requirements. I suppose that as far as style goes, the closer it looks to a Brough Superior the better, but I'm not fussy on that front.

So i've traveled 150km to a village where my friend lives, we're going to tear down an old barn today. Later i'm going to another village to meet with this cool redhead chick I know since forever. Weekend starts nicely

There's no such thing as a motorbike that isn't resource-heavy, everything's just relative. You can't repair a worn-down tire. Get something Japanese, they're pretty reliable and parts tend to be cheaper. If you can't reconcile with having to replace parts on a relatively frequent basis just get a pushbike.
