If this guy on Craigslist would fucking get back to me I could pick up a gs500e for a grand right fucking now but mostly im trying to snag a $1500 cruiser. I can stretch to $1200 right now but can make $1500 on Friday which would put me in a better position to buy anything suitable for a first bike. Once I get my poorly advised car loan transferred to some schmuck I plan to save for a few months and drop up to $3500 to trade up to something nice. If I do get the cruiser I'll go for a CB500F, if I wind up starting with a GS500 I'll get a nice cruiser. It's tempting to just go and finance the CB500 but I'm sure I'll get fucked on full coverage.

Took my Harley out for a rip today.
Every time I twist the throttle and lay into corners at twice the posted limit I hear the spirits of America communicating with me. As I spanked a boosa doing some touge I was whispered sweet nothings into my ears from the spirit of teddy Roosevelt. He reminded me of his conquests during the boor wars and his many exotic trophy hunts.

I am proud to be part of this legendary brotherhood

They gave you life, it wasn't your choice, now they can't stop providing you simply because you have your own will.

>your parents are also your peers. And they can be idiots.
That's not how that works. Parents are always parents and should be treated with respect, elders even more so. I may disagree with them but if I'm living under their roof they have the final say as far as I am concerned. That would go for anybody I live with that isn't my peer. If a roomate told me "you shouldn't have a bike" due to the same situation I would tell him to worry about his own shit because he actually is my peer.

I just graduated, dude. I don't have to live with them but it keeps most of my living expenses to a minimum.

>Also where your parents not taught to respect their children? Were you not taught to respect your children?
Children aren't to be "respected" like they are a superior. That would be a fucked up perversion of the parent-child relationship.

>Same principle applies for bikes but riding bikes is even less risky.
And you don't think I told them that? In less than 2 years I'm going to be sitting in a hunk of metal moving at a few hundred knots some thousands of feet above the surface of the earth and they are worried about me riding a bike.

There's no way in hell I'm giving up on riding but I have to try a different approach. I'm waiting a week or two and then I'm going to resume looking for a dualsport, considering the two dead men were riding sportbikes maybe I can ease their fears by getting something more "sensible". My parents are just worried about me and I completely understand that. They will worry about me until they are dead. That's just what good parents do.

I would suggest people buying the MT125 are either more wealthy than the average rider or planning to stick with a 125 for the long haul.

>Children aren't to be "respected" like they are a superior
There's no "superior" in the parent-child relationship, or in life relationships in general. Your idea of relationships is perverted.

And I *have* decided, which you fail to see. I have decided to follow my parent's wishes out of respect for them. However, I am still working to find an outcome where I have a bike and they are not worried.
>There's no "superior" in the parent-child relationship, or in life relationships in general. Your idea of relationships is perverted.
If you honestly believe this to be true, life will be very rough for you. There are superiors, then there are peers, and then there are subordinates in all relationships (even if they aren't official). From the lowliest chicken coop to the UN summit there are superiors, peers, and subordinates. Every relationship has a "pecking order".
>Who cares, it's a simple truth, if they're too stupid to understand it their opinion is worthless.
They are not stupid. Worried parents are not typically rational. They think only about their child's safety. Pretending that everyone is perfectly logical and non-emotional is poor logic in and of itself.
>Good parents don't impose just because of their irrational fear.
I would prefer a parent to be worried about their child than to not be worried at all. The former is being protective, the latter is disturbing.

Am I autistic for wanting a fuel gauge on my """new""" bike? looking at a 90's honda and almost randomly some of them have fuel gauges and some don't.

I've got it down to a Sticker covered blue one that needs new tyres for 1700

A black one with suspiciously low KM for 1800

a very nice condition looking red one with new tyres for 2200

Maybe i should look for a newer one and spend more like 3k, i spent 2k on my 125 learner bike

To be fair, I had lowsided my 125 a few times, always caused by grabbing the brakes.

yeah people get lucky and sometimes they dont.

Is it too hard to toss his key into the bushes and ride off so braindead lardass doesn't end up killing anyone or destroying property?
And the rider with the camera was too afraid so tries to get his friend to do it and take the blame for whatever happens. Fuck that guy.

Nobike here. Is a Nighthawk 750 okay for a beginner with no riding experience besides the MSF course?

Also it's a '91 with ~62k on the odo, I'm wondering if that's "too old"/"too many miles"

To many miles m8. There pretty good bikes but heavy and with that mileage you should expect to be replacing some parts. But if the bike looks mint, owned by some old dude and not some cuckfe hipster sissy trap gay beta nu-male cuckboi its probably fine for a learner.

what about this one?
>>17606877

Only ~6k miles but im worried that an older bike ('78) will end up needing too much wrench-time for my skill level/experience
>>
>>17606877
Bike will probably be bought by some hipster to make a cuckfe racer but who know. Also i would consider a newer bike for $1300 like a katana, bandit or sv650. Hell even a newer nighthawk 750 is better.
>>
>>17606888
All 20+ year old bikes need wrenching even if they have low miles.

>2001 sv650

Y/N?

>>17606910
That's exactly what I'm trying to be mindful of but at the same time I'm a poorfag who wants to ride as soon as I can, so my budget is somewhere around $2500-3k but most of the bikes in my area (west TX/SE NM) aren't exactly my "type"
>>
>>17606888
As long as you have some time and can wrench/learn it can be fine. The longer it has sit still, the worse the bike can be.
>>
>>17606916
Looks pretty clean but you can get a carbed sv650 for $1300. $2500 is a lot for an 18yo bike. You could get the 2nd gen FI model for $2500.

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills here because it seems like everyone in literally every other part of the USA has access to <$2k used non-molested bikes

I wouldn't mind driving 250-500mi and back to get a decent cheap bike but already then I'm tacking on $150-200 to the price since I'd feel obligated to pay whoever I know with a truck to help me out

Try this one. Looks cheap, you could learn to ride on it and then sell it for the same price.

Yeah browsed that craiglist and everybody is a bike jew.

should i buy one? Seems like you can get a good ZX9r for about 2000 bucks or even lower.

I heard it rides more like a sports-tourer and its got some pretty solid stock parts.

Kinda worried about having to deal with carbs though.
