The vast majority of people on 4Chan are autistic, to an autistic person modern sport bikes are objectively superior to everything else because, on paper, they are. Things like comfort, rideablity, fun, and character can't be shown in numbers, only power and performance, which is what sport bikes are made for.
Also sportbikes are bretty cool.
>>17567059

It's not always their fault. Coming back from a bike rally my bike kept dying on me. It'd be fine and then all of a sudden the electrical would completely die.
The problem was that the previous owner must have been some kind of muppet and installed the ECM connector without the weather seal gasket. Rain was getting into it and causing issues.

FZ-07 faggot here. I love my bike but I think in the next few months I'm going to start looking at bikes that are larger since I have a fairly large frame. The FZ is great, but it sucks on long distance rides and it's practically impossible to go camping out of or similar.
I'm thinking of looking at sport touring bikes or even cruisers, but I don't really know where to start. I know cruisers get a lot of shit on /dbt/ so this probably isn't the place to ask, but I frequently lurk here so here I am.
I know Harley gets a lot of shit for their overpriced outdated underperforming heavy tanks they call bikes, but what about other cruiser manufacturers? Is it even possible to find a cruiser that is fun to ride (cornering doesn't matter much) while also being utilitarian?
The vast majority of my riding is just commuting to work and back or running errands, so like 90%+ of my riding is done on the interstate or highways. Twisty handling isn't really top priority for me.
To everyone heading out for SAM tonight / tomorrow morning, ride safe
We can't have another Sef on our hands, rip.
So the drz is having problems again. I took off the carb, cleaned and replaced it but now the bike seems to idle really low while the choke is on. Like 1500 rpm and dies quickly. I did mess around with the fuel air mix screw but can't seem to come to a point where the bike will stay on.
>>17568131

I'm conflicted; I feel like I would look like a yuge faggot wearing a pant with sliders when I'm still at the stage where I take right hand turns super slow and in 2nd. I also doubt I'll ever drag knee on these straight-arrow southwestern roads. I guess I could take the sliders off until I git gud, but they probably offer some non-trivial impact protection even without hektik riding..
>>17568394
Would you rather look like a faggot or keep the skin on your legs when you crash and look like a fucking idiot for not having gear?
>>17568364
They define it as semi-sport, so probably.
Honda likes to let the engineers go nuts on tourers and commuters. Seems like they needed an excuse to resurrect the V4 cruiser.

One can buy pants that will keep skin on your legs just fine but that don't have sliders. Guess I was just looking for some feedback about whether a clear scrub wearing sliders is as indicative of bad self-awareness and planning as, say, an 18 year old with two speeding tickets and bad credit buying a gsxr.
on the other hand, shit's safer and i can only get better at riding over time, and it'd be better to have it and not need it than want to track later and have to cop new pants.
>>17568410

This is what a small drop during a less than 10mph turn looks like.
You don't have to ride hektik to fuck shit up.
It's wasn't that bad for me, not even close to lasting damage, but now I have to deal with a giant scab on a joint for a couple weeks. It's like constant paper cut pain.

They have some amusing test videos of nice looking biker ladies wearing them as their dragged down the road on their bums, competing to see who hangs on the longest before it gets too hot. Record is something like 208 feet.

>>17568579
Canada, specifically Run to the Hills rally in Two Hills Alberta.
I threw a tombstone light on for a tail-light because I swapped my tins for a set of denim black ones on my dyna. What I neglected to do was use loctite on the fasteners. Somewhere along the ride up it rattled loose and tore off my bike.
A farmer found it on the road later in the day, flagged down a passing motorcycle group that was heading to the rally, they brought it to the registration gate and it sat there for a few hours until a buddy of mine recognized it.
I was having a beer at our camp site when through the magic of motorcycles my tail-light found me.
>>17567197
I learned how to ride a bike within like 15 mins for the first time at 21 yrs old and then took the motorcycle safety course shit a week later and passed

Didn't Triumph go out of business lately? Some cruiser manufacturer owned by Polaris went out of business recently. I thought it was Triumph.
>>17568706
It suits the hell out of that Raider. Picture doesn't do it justice it's a huge bike.
Guy had a rough weekend though. Some inebriated fella walked too close to his bike when he was returning from a beer run and his front peg caught the guys calf and ripped it wide open.

That was Victory.

Victory, and they were shut down to allow Polaris to focus manufacturing capacity on Indian (small but important distinction). They will still supply replacement parts for all models for another 10 years, but no new bike production.

This might end up replacing my FZ-07 depending on how it rides.
I've always wanted an Indian but never really liked the super sweeping fenders. This thing looks gorgeous.
>>17568326

can't lie, I was pretty astounded to see that over half of the bikes surveyed in the Hurt report were Hondas. they must have dominated in the early 80s I guess.
>>17568907
Hurt discusses this in the report. Seems the police who provided much of the data put down "Harley" if the bike was HD, and "Honda" if it was not.
>>17568907
They've dominated since the introduction of the super cub.

>>17567372
It's a photo of a headlight.
>>17568935
The standard Scout and even the Scout Sixty are both available in black as well, but this bobber model has even more black. The more noticeable (to me) changes however are in the fenders, handlebars, and mirrors. I've never liked the look of the classic trailing Indian fenders, and this bike completely remedies that for me.
>>17568922
fucking kek if true, if i have some time later i'll try to find that and cap it.
though, i was under the impression (from the wiki page admittedly) that they figured out fairly quickly that police reports and after-the-fact accounts were garbo, and the only way to get good information was to send team members directly to the site.
on the other hand, even though the first cap was of the 3600 cases where they got info from police, this cap is of the 900 where they had team members on the scene and the honda count is still massive.
>>17568874

unsure what "code" is used for, but "absolute frequency" is simply the number of accidents studied that involved a bike of that make. "relative frequency" is the percent that were that make out of all the accidents. "adjusted frequency", not sure without reading their methodology more closely.
>>17568966
So they used some fucked fenders and painted the bike in the ugliest colour they could find and called it a day.
A $400 discount isn't enough for that.
>>17568973
I think both look good, but I actually prefer the look of the bobber model. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to test ride either one, but I really like the sort of matte black aesthetic and the chopped fenders.

Why do hipsters have such good taste in bikes?
Nearly crashed yesterday but I managed to pull it out of the bag at the last second.
I never noticed the cars in front of me had stopped at a set of lights, slammed the breaks and the back end came out but I still wasn't stopping in time. Luckily there was a gap between the queue and some parked cars so I went into it trying to wrangle with my first tank slapper. I just about had it under control when I got to the front and the lights changed.
>>17569272
>I never noticed the cars in front of me had stopped at a set of lights
Where was your attention? It should be at the traffic in front, doofus.
>back end came out
Don't use the rear brake in panic situations, reduces the risk of losing and regaining traction, then losing control completely. It won't reduce your stopping distance by much if you do use it, and if you brake properly on the front the rear might not even be in contact with the ground.
So two things: Start paying more attention to traffic, don't follow so closely, and learn to brake properly.
>>17567580

>>17569674
>you can indeed not accidentally turn the parking lights on
what the fuck does this mean?
So should I push start it and get the battery to charge while idling?
>>17569681
With the R1150 you turned the parking lights on by turning the ignition key further when locking the handle bar.
Don't push start it, it's pretty difficult. Put it on a battery charger or with jumper cables.
>>17569684
I can get my dad to help me push start it.

>>17569694

>With the R1150 you turned the parking lights on by turning the ignition key further
I've done this on a Yamaha. Now I put my hand in front of the parking light every time I park up just to check if I'm about to fuck it all up. Poor design really.
>>17569716
I've done it twice now.
First time I got it just in time, as I had no car to jump it with or a charger.
Last time was last week. Had to jump start it TWICE, because of some stupid design where you need your ignition key to put back your seat and it didn't charge enough before I turned the bike off.
>>17569706
yeah, all lights go on, even the headlight and rear light.
The engine tries to turn over then dies. There's a red battery symbol on the dashboard.
>>17569730
You might be able to just push start it. You and/or your dad have experience with it?
>>17569738
not really
>>17569752
Get jumper cables and jump it with the car.
It's hard to push start them. I have experience and have done it many times before and still I struggle when the battery isn't full.
R/R company says diode test should give same results as old R/R after being plugged in, so far wasn't plugged in and values shown are WAY outside the limits.
I'm worried again
I need to somehow calm the fuck down until the sun sets
