What's a better buy?

An 04 FZ6 for 3.5k with 5k miles, an 09 FZ6 for 4.1k with 10k miles, or an 04 919 with 16k miles for 3.5k?

I'm thinking the fz6 but oh lawd i have to stop buying bikes faster than I can sell the old ones

>n+1-1
>>
>>17509844
Fz6 is a good bike, but kind of a starter bike desu senpai

I would get the 919 just for the power, but thats just me.
>>
>>17509844
09 is a better bike objectively even if they look uglier. They've got better brakes and suspension
>>
>>17509853
A little less overall power is alright as long as it pulls hard up to 70mph, but tank range is what gets me.

The FZ6 is a little better than the 919 in that department.

Both have i4 smoothness, which is kind of a must after suffering numb everything on a shakey twin.

Any inline four with a pipe.

All your weight on the stand

A lot of dumbasses cut the lever off the stand so it's impossible to use properly even with a light motorcycle. Muh cornering clearance! Better to take the stand off in that case, so you still have a functioning stand.

Make sure you centerstand hasn't been altered before you throw your back out.

Pretty much all anime stickers ensure good handling, braking, and acceleration by keeping passengers off your bike. But, they also increase the chances of your bike mysteriously tipping over in parking lots, and the chances of me stealing your bike and parking mine with a spare set of keys where you left it if you have good taste in stickers. Thanks for the itabike bro.

It's big and heavy and shoei. You get what you pay for and I have no doubt should I go down and hit my head I've invested well.

The newer version has the cut outs to direct wind through the visor. It's not horrible at hwy speeds buy does get caught up at times.

Vents are limited but the ones that are there work.

Contrary to most people shoei and arai both fit my head. I would have gone for either. I just got the shoei cheaper.

As far as AGV? Nice looking helmet, but it's not SNELL and although they may be made in italy? I'm assuming china? I won't buy a China helmet.

When oil was boomin' 26 days on, 12 hour days was pretty much the standard for rig workers. Can't really call them cheapskates when starting pay was around 35/hour with no education or training needed, and most of the stint on is overtime pay at 55/hour - plus various camp/travel/safety bonus's. Not every one is content with 8 hour days / 8 hour pays anon.
>>
>>17510427
If you're not willing to work hard, then you either have to make your working time be now valuable through pay, or love with lesser means. Communism doesn't work, neither does socialism.

You need to work for your dollars, the more hours you work the more dollars you get. Freedom, capitalism, and the Western world revolves around you personally making the decision to work that hard

Maybe not everyone, maybe not now. But the fact that there's no law preventing it creates the possibility of what I described happening.

Basically the company will never ever keep a worker who only wants to work 8 hours per day for 5 days because he wants to have free time for whatever reason.

Can't you understand this simple truth?

I was literally asked what the fuck did I have to do the only time in a year I told my employer I had to see if I could come to work in my free time. And it was a motherfucking 5 employees company, not a corporate who doesn't give a single fuck about you by default.

I'm not saying they have to get higher education (although I think everyone should), I'm saying the fact that they get paid more should be an incentive.

I know I'm biased because the last 4 years I've worked 10.5 hour shifts, but there is nothing wrong with working longer hours if you want. I knew before I got the job I would be working all the time, if I wasn't OK with that I would have worked somewhere else. I'm well compensated for my extra 2.5 hours a day, those extra two hours are basically motorcycle/fun money since its overtime pay.

If someone didn't want to work long hours, there's lots of other jobs out there that don't require long hours. There are laws that prevent it - It's called overtime pay. It's not really economical for companies to overwork everybody all the time, but I'll take what I fucking can. Why does this upset you?

Work 24 hour shifts. Make $60 an hour if I work overtime over my 110 shifts a year. Bachelor's degree and work is paying for grad school after 5 years.

Not everyone that works "long" hard hours is dumb or poor. The 9-5 is not the only work schedule and one could argue is actually pretty shit. I'm going to keep enjoying my 4 and 6 day weekends.

I've literally never looked longer than one day without getting a job, last job hunt I had ~4 offers in one day - this one just paid the most. I'm not worried in the slightest about being unemployed when I no longer have the time to work this one. As a whole/civilization level, current overtime laws do prevent employers working masses of people long hours. For niche jobs like mine? Fuck you pay me.

Nobody's forcing anybody to take the job, nobody's going into the job not knowing the hours it entails, and nobodys forcing anybody to keep it. It's called freedom.

Is being white really this easy?

I've been watching from sidelines, but why hasn't anybody mentioned the cost of education/training? Or the idea that a social contract including mandatory overtime is outdated? More civilized nations and companies that value productivity in their workforce are shrinking workdays/weeks to improve work-life balance. In addition, the "overtime only" crew seems to be under the assumption that labor is still the primary source of employ in the US.
A. It's now services.
B. It will never make a comeback. To ensure future prosperity, people should be shooting to become technicians---if not full engineers.
C. Because there is such low demand for decent-paying labor jobs, median wages (annual) have been declining steadily.
C.a. On wages, when a company raises its prices in a punitive manner, due to government intervention, why don't you just stop doing business with that company? Raise cane, and make it clear they won't be allowed to hold their customers hostage?
D. Secondary schooling is not difficult. To be frank, the contents of an associate's degree should be integrated with high school curricula, so young people are equipped to write their way out of a box, compose simple functions, and recognize poorly justified scientific claims from the jump. Many nations, namely Japan and Germany--as they seem to be so popular here, include vocational training options in high school. Generally these fit the custom of a US associate's technology, if not associate's science.

I've tutored actual "special education" students. People will continue to look stupid so long as we make no effort to educate them. Saying that the majority are is vain and ignorant.

Current school curricula are unfair to the growing number of chemical-addled, drank-coffee-at-3 spergs and ADHDs, especially when you get into tertiary and they say "YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE". You have no excuse to have trouble working in a group. You have no excuse for having trouble focusing on writing a 20 page editorial on a subject you don't give a flying fuck about. Oh wait, you do. Primary and secondary coddle people who are retarded but fail to make a note on their record....

If on a budget, stick to Jap crap.

Triumphs and BMWs are not worth 3x the price. If you have 3x your budget, sure, but if you're having second thoughts, it isn't worth it.

Take it from someone who's over the whole BMW thing. The bikes arent necessarily bad (mine was good fun until I lost trust on it) but the reliability reports and price parts are not a meme.

the thing about japs is that you have to pick out the budget shit that nets premium praise, while euro guys don't export that in the first place

IE: naked bikes. They are mostly budget blasters on budget suspensions with detuned engines, and sometimes even older engines from the 20th century given a mild refresh. Wobbly frames and shit shocks all around. Why can't it be easy like ducati? Buy monster get good bike. And then you have the FZ-10.

And also, those sport standards. Gee whizz, a sportbike for THAT much, and it's a SIX FIFTY? Don't mind that the shock spans the (welded steel box) swingarm to the (welded steel box) frame with nary a linkage between them. Or that it only has two cyllinders.

I paid 3000€ on my first "big" bike. Sold that, got a 2011 F800R for 4500€. Then sold it and got a 2008 FZ1-S for 3900€.

It depends on how well off you are. You can get some very sweet deals for 3k, insure it, pay taxes, get some gear (don't forget some rain stuff too) and keep the rest for maintenance. Tires, sprockets, chain, services and so on are a thing. Doing a scheduled service can run anywhere from 250€ to 600€. Yamaha charges 35€ per hour here, BMW 70€. And there's also gas. And god forbid you have some sort of unexpected problem with the bike.

If you assess all the risks it can get very expensive, which is why I'd stick with a bike on the lower part of your budget You don't have to get a POS, but don't get too carried away. Also your first bike isn't likely to be your last, if you get something too new it will depreciate quickly.

Popped my genuinely-nearly-got-killed cherry yesterday.

Some youngteen driver alone in a white SUV nearly merged into me, probably ended up a good foot or so away before he responded to my honking and stopped attempting to murder me. The look in his eyes was pure terror, I didn't think flipping out and gesturing at him would have done either of us any good. The little girl in the car in the adjacent lane was staring at me with her jaw wide open, I think she thought I was going to die, I bet she saw the whole thing. Yes, it's over a litre, and a sports tourer. Also called a maxi-scooter.

But think of what could have been.

But they're still here

A UJM has

>comfort and all-rounder capability off the showroom floor
check
>a wide range of models, ranging from small engined fuel sipper to pure muscle
check
>extensive aftermarket for comfort and functionality so you can tailor the bike to how to ride
check

A UJM is
>a compromise between pavement and light offroading with very little attention paid to the track, but you can still get good results with the right tires

Hmmm, sounds familiar.
>>
>>17512315
>The UJM template featured a four-cylinder engine, standard riding position, carburetor for each cylinder, unit construction engine, disc front brake, conventional tubular cradle frame and telescopic front forks and twin-shock rear suspension.
