RIP brake caliper? Doesn't make sense since with the way the rotor spins, the dust should be on the back on the forks.

Your black wire is going to come undone at some point. It is good enough for a while though, there is not enough solder. Your other connection almost has to much solder. You should have practiced on scrap before doing this.

I recommend stronger as a guy that makes money doing electronics, that you fucking use heat shrink tubing and seal your exposed wires on the connector.

If you ride in the rain or that shit get wet it will get water inside the insulation. It won't be to long before the entire wire on both the red and black leads will be non-functional.

DBT do yourselves a fucking favor if you are going to wrench on your own shit do it right. Fuckers half-ass shit and then wonder why their headlight fails at night or valve cover drips oil.

You can ride in either, it's just not particularly nice if you haven't got the correct tyres and gear. I avoid rain as my bike just isn't fun to ride in the wet, I'd rather drive my car and rip sick skids.

Quick Question! I bought an A* jacket and I want to replace the waist zipper so that i can hook them up to the Agv Sport willow pants. Is this possible via tailor or do I need A* pants?

>>
>>17461095
Generally when buying a jacket or pants you'll get a matching zipper already attached, unzip it and take it to a tailor, they'll be able to either put the A* bottom half zip on the AGV pants or the AGV pants zipper on the jacket.

Because they're now designed better so they're more integrated into the design of the bikes. Some bikes have them between the headlights (S1000RR, Honda SP1, RSV1000 to name a few), others have them blended into the sides. A lot of the time though they just take in air somewhere behind the front wheel.

Meh personal taste, I think it looks good. I don't know much about bikes though, so it might be equivalent to a non car person looking at pretty much any sports car as being sexy.

Also I would go used by I kind of like knowing the history of the shit I own. Everybody tells me to start on a Ninja 300 but shit just seems slow to me, the only experience I have though is riding mopeds around Maui and those were slow as fuck couldn't even keep up with traffic.

650 seems like a good buy to me, it's just that the 2016 is a few thousand cheaper, probably could find a 2015 even. I'm just not sure on what justifies the price increase for the 2017.

i also wondered. i think it's an issue of size / weight of the luggage inside your panniers / topcase. if you have a small item that weighs a lot, it would bounce around. on the other hand, if you have a lot of items that fill the space to the end and exceed the 3kg mark (say by 2kg or so) i dont think it should be an issue. also depends on the lock system that connects pannier / top case to the frame

ofc making the TÜV Prüfung after all this time will be an " Akribische TÜV Prüfung" ( i asked our TÜV guy, they seriously have to check as good as everything there) and it will be way more expensive because you took so long to make it. after 9 months it gives 1 punkt, that's why I can't do my TÜV anymore because otehr wise I get a Fahrverbot

Yeah. I'd like to live the full experience of course.

What's the basic equipment for camping? A tent, a soft mat and a sleeping bag?
Anything else? I was thinking about a stool maybe.

Also do you guys always eat out or cook something yourself?

don't do it m8
what do you exactly mean with es lohnt sich nicht mehr irgendwas zu machen?
If you do an Ausbildung dann lohnt es sich schon, weil du hinterher dann damit was anfangen kannst

Sorry for so much german

REQUESTING ADVISEMENT:

I've got experience riding a 500cc sport bike, but the thing is damn old and problematic, so I need a new bike. I've compiled a list of everything in my area that might be worthwhile. I'm looking mostly for a reliable commuter vehicle, but would prefer something with some guts/'cool' that doesn't burn gas madly. I don't want to deal with carburetor nonsense either. I might like to paint my bike in the future.

I'd be asking about 10% off asking on any of these options:

2009 Kawasaki ER6n 650 (Looks weird in pics, but has nice stats. Low mileage, looks clean.)
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/6199973608.html

2012 Yamaha fz6r (Heard these are shit from people on here the other day, though it looks alright. Some scratching.)
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/6194464842.html

2004 Ducati multistrada 1000DS (Says it needs new exhaust gaskets and a left-side mirror. Don't know the cost of those. Probably eats up gas, but it is a liter bike after all. Closest to me. Just under 20k miles. One of the cooler bikes.)
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/lac/mcy/6176396772.html

2008 Suzuki GSX650F (18k miles, furthest from me. Scratched up.)
https://losangeles.craigslist.org/ant/mcy/6198638207.html

I would be grateful for any input on these bikes. Thank you.

I would like to join the poorfag discussion. I am also out of a job and am still yet to buy luggage. I have a rain poncho that works as a tent and I can wrangle up sleeping arrangements. My main question is: how much money should I have ready?
What are other anons' budgets for the meet? I haven't made a long trip yet and my expectations vary wildly.

I haven't seen mention of SEM 3.33 in about two months, where will it take place? timeanddate says it'll be Jul 29 and I assume it'll be all weekend.

I respect your taste & decisions, but stock the bike is very upright. As you can see on the post with the riser pics I even lowered the bars. And it's still fairly upright, at least according to cycle ergo.

Figure about 10-15 € for camping per night, assuming you bring your own tent. If you share with someone it'll be marginally cheaper. Food, I don't know about prices in Austria but I think you'll be fine with under 10 € per day unless you absolutely must eat in restaurants every day. Fuel should be a little over 1 € per liter, how much you pay depends on your bike, riding style and how far you have to ride.

Me, I figure I'll be spending around 300-400 € excluding food, most of it on fuel.

Breddy gud. Have lots of stress right up until SEM to get my uni shit over with so I can start my Masterarbeit in September.
Fresh oil in baiku since today, fresh air filter. New rear tire next week. Maybe new brakes before the meet, we'll see.
I signed up for my license upgrade but Berlin bureaucracy is fucking retarded (wait 4 weeks for appointment at Bürgeramt, then wait 6 weeks for upgrade application to go through) so I'll still be stuck on A2 for SEM.
How about you? Can you already say if you'll be at SEM this year?

SEM3000 (2 years ago) I did 2000 km all in all. Around 800 km each way + 400 km with the other guys on the ride where FKG shrekt himself. I don't think it'll be a lot more this year, the place is near the first SEM's location and even though we have 2 full days, we're only planning to ride on one of them.
The tires are around 8k km old IIRC, I don't really remember. Bridgestone BT 45

I'd avoid the Ducati solely on the grounds of being a Ducati.

The ER6n is the ugliest and most underpowered, so I would give it last place.

Both the FZ6R and the GSX650F seem to be in good shape. From these two I preffer the FZ6R as it's newer (from 2011) and a bit more modern than the Suzuki.

I see F4is are being meme'd hard. They're also nice bikes, but they have ergos that are different (it's a sportsbike) from everything you listed. You'll either love it or hate it.

>Ducati
So the meme about them breaking apart isn't actually a meme?

>ER6n
I didn't realize the ER6n was that weak. Though, it is a Kawasaki after all.

>Riding ergos
I've been riding a 1986 Honda VF500F, so I am used to some lean, but not much (not supersport level lean).

>FZ6R

People were shitting on that bike yesterday when I asked about it specifically. Something about them being under-powered FZ6 bikes (though I heard you can boost it up). It's touted as a beginner's bike, but it's got more CCs than my current bike, and significantly more reliable (not sure if it has a center stand or not, though). Supposedly fantastic MpG, and I like how it looks.

What would you offer for it? $2850? It's close enough that I could probably see it today.

The bureaucracy is hell, like I said. Back when I did A2 all I did was show up at the riding school and bam, 2 weeks later I had a date for the exam. That was in rural Brandenburg though.
I haven't ridden lots either, I rode a lot in May and then felt bad for pissing away like 50 € in fuel in one day, several times a week. So I spent my free time watching DVDs and playing video games and now I'm too busy to ride a lot.
I'll be there for sure, I was lucky in that my exams will all be done before SEM. Just have to hurry up with this one fucking lab report that I'm supposed to hand in during SEM, so I have to finish it almost a week early.

The FZ6R is a eurocucked bike that I would personally never own.

Gixxer looks decent.

The FZ6 looks nice.

Just know between the Gixxer and the FZ6 you're cross shopping two completely different types of bikes.

I guide myself mostly on part prices. If you ever for instance, drop the bike and bend the bars, it'll be easier and cheaper to source some handlebars on ebay for the FZ6R than it will be for the Ducati.

If you don't work on it yourself, Ducati/BMW dealerships tend to charge significantly more than their jap counterparts, anything from 30% to 50%.

I actually take back my comment on the ER6 being weak, I confused with the ER5. I still think it's ugly af.

Any recent jap bike is fine anon. I see you're posting all sorts of bikes. Do you have any idea what type or riding you'll be doing or what type of bike you want?

On a side note is anyone already planning itineraries? I could propose a couple of options.

Just today I did Kuhtai and Timmelsjoch (by car). I guess we could do those in either direction. And also passo Pennes, from Vipiteno to Bolzano.

You can plan all you want, but SEM does want SEM wants. It don't care about bikes being ridden off mountains, rain coming in sideways, cars getting lost, losing people or any other events that might happen.

I'm open to different types of bikes.

If I want to get an FZ6, most of my options are buying a 35-45k mile salvage bike or paying $1k more. I'm not trying to burn through twisties or speed on the freeway.

>>17462509
I'm more interested in sport bikes since I'm used to the lean in them. I don't care for cruisers or street bikes, and don't know how I'd like supersports. It would mostly be for commuting or going to the gymnasium.

I'm not trying to go on the track or carve twisties. I just want a reliable bike for commuting that looks cool and won't die on me. I'm trying to pay under $3k after bargaining. I don't have much money to spend right now, but I need transportation that won't fuck me anymore. In that case, wouldn't the FZ6Rs be a suitable choice for me?

Since the FZ6Rs I've linked are newer, I presume it would be easier to find parts for them.

Here they are for reference again:

Sportbikes really are a meme as an only bike.

Fun in a very narrow set of circumstances but really not that comfortable or practical for any sort of daily use or commuting.

If your looking for a bike to daily,I would look at something more along the lines of the FZ6 or a naked.

I would stick to the following:

>smaller than 800cc
>not a sportsbike (check cycle ergo if in doubt)
>well maintained or low miles
>EFI preferred (google if you're unsure if said bike has EFI)

You'll be fine. Other than that, go look at the bikes and test ride them!

Then you're talking about a sport standard. When people say "sport bike" they re typically refering to literal sport bikes.

A sport standard is something like a FZ6 or any of the 650 twins or pretty much any naked.
