Anyone with a 90-97 VFR750F? What is your top end like? Mine feels a bit lacking, but the low end and midrange is fantastic.Should I get a jet kit? (Probably stage one because i'm not trying to race this thing)

Also, any suggestions for next/second bike? I'm thinking about getting a Speed Triple next year, but the lack of fairings isn't great for fall or spring riding.

The evolution of the "race replica". Sportbikes are no longer made to be fun for the average rider, who likes to have fun on backroads and the like. (I'm using the Kawasaki ZX7/ZX7R as my example because it's the first that comes to mind.)

Fastforward in time, most sportbikes started to become more race than replica. I think it's because of the sportbike boom and that happened in the early 2000s. Personally, I feel sportbikes became "normiefied" during this time. Any silly cunt could pick a gixxer for nothing.

Currently stopped for food on my 1000cc Hurricane.
It's a very nice bike to ride. Lots of torque, surprisingly nimble and mechanically quite reliable. Older models have a very noisy chain tensioner, they fixed that in 89 I think. This applies to the CBR1000 I think though.

Chill out, mate. That's a lot of conjecture. None of what you listed has anything to do with being American, the shitposting is unnecessary.

You do realize there are a metric fuckton of great riding roads in the USA, right? You can enjoy almost any of those roads on any bike as long as you ride your own ride. You wanna go fast as hell in a straight line? Can do. Wanna carve up a canyon? Go for it. Parkway/touge boogie down? Hell yeah. Touring with pillion of choice? You're good to go. Street Rossis, Weekenders, Commuters, whatever. All are welcome.

How is it? Comfier than other sport bikes? How much mileage do you get out of a tank?
>>
>>17409852
It's probably safer, DESU, if you have a thoroughbred sports bike then you rarely get the opportunity to push it to its limit in (relative) safety on the road.

A real folly would be buying a bike designed for full offroading then using it for commuting and long distance touring so much that you're probably going to fit it with 100% road-oriented tyres.

>>17409868
Helmet speakers are more convenient, some decent canalphones like Shure SE215's with triple flange tips (they reach half way to your brain) will give better quality.
>>

>>
>>17409897
It's basically impossible to hear the music from helmet speakers from the outside when you're wearing it.
>>
>>17409904
>How long does the battery last listening to music?

I have a Cardo G9x and it lasts at the very least for 10 hours of riding. I've never done a longer ride in a single day and don't want to be deprived of my tunes so I've never intentionally let it run out.

I don't see how canyon carving on a dual sport is safer than doing the same thing at the same pace on a sport bike.
>>
>>17409929
You'll hit the limits of the bike at a lower speeds, giving you more room for error.

>>17409934

The busa is probably the coolest bike I've ever owned. It's pretty damn comfy from a long distance standpoint, making it better would be with higher bars and a lower seat but it's fine as it is now. As someone who's owned both supermotos and sports bikes, you dont end up doing the same pace. Especially corner entry speed, WOT on a supermoto vs a sportbike from corner to corner is a whole other level.

today when cleaning and oiling the chain i noticed that half of the chain has started to slack

at the moment i got the chain tightened properly but still the other side slacks and kinda looks like its jumping when riding, the jumping isnt violent and its not making any noise or hitting stuff but still...

does riding with worn chain break something else than the sprockets in time?

Chains are not ropes, they stretch unevenly and because it's always 1 link=1 tooth there is no way for the slack to even out, so with the wheel turned one way it could have 1 inch of slack, turn it 180 degrees and it could have 2.

>>
>>17410475
>>17410494
yes basically the chain is just snug but if i rotate the chain half way it slacks

when i change to chain im replacing sprockets also since they arent expesive

thats why im asking if worn chain can damage the the bike if i just ride with it till the sprockets are gone to shit
>>
>>17410509
You rip that whoolie yet bruh?
>>
>>17410509
yeah you've got a kink/tight spot in the chain or something, fairly common in old and well used chains.

A worn chain will be ineifficient and wear out the sprocket faster.

The best part is that Royal Enfield has a hilariously enthusiastic cult-following in India.

Oh, and trade your Harley for a sportbike. Even if it's a 500, the position suggests more "come ride me" less "I will peg your grandfather."

I am not sure how to shop for a slip on for my R6 since you really cant tell much from youtube videos. Currently I have a scorpion slip on and it sounds good but its just too soft, almost like its 1 peg above stock. I cant even really hear my exhaust when I am ridding.

Also I don't want something so loud I look like the local jack ass. Ive been considering those shorty slip ons but they look like they might be too much, is there a good in between option? If only my current slip on was about half as long I think it would be perfect.

Depends on how cold it is for more.
If it's warmer out, which it's been, I'll turn it on with the choke at about a quarter, then put my gear on, then go.
If it's colder I'll put gear on first, turn on with coke at about half, and lightly rev it so I don't have to wait so long. Still takes a couple minutes.

So I just downloaded the manual because two different people were telling me two different octanes. So I have 91 (assuming R+M/2 because I´m in Canada) because that´s what my friend gave me to put in, but I looked in the manual and it says 86+. My question is can I put 87 octane in with the 91 until it burns through and continue with 87 or should I drain it first?

This. The only thing using a higher octane really does is hurt your wallet a little more. With most bikes, 87 is fine. For engines with higher compression, they need higher octanes to prevent early detonation. If you aren't experiencing early combustion, then increasing the octane doesn't do much.

Well I think my oil pump or something is gone. Oil pressure light went off, I have new oil and filter, the level moves so no clogs or anything. Was listening to the bike today after seeing the light and thought I could hear some strange knocking noises.

Turned it off and on, it sounded ok so I was giving it some throttle. Hit like 4k RPM and it made a big clunk and the bike kind of twitched.

All the shops are closed right now but I'm going to start calling around tomorrow to bring it in somewhere and at least get it diagnosed. I don't want to run it with no oil to try to diagnose it with my lack of tools.

Just bracing to get fucked by shop fees now, and maybe the engine being totaled if it's something serious or if some serious damage has been done.

It's an air force wide thing I guess. We just had a guy die a couple weeks ago on a sport bike (not his fault though) so they're cracking down hard on it, especially on newbies like me.

Don't think there's really any way for them to enforce it. But good idea on the spec sheet to show the shirt.

Riding in the Peruvian Andes. Pretty vertigo inducing. Unfortunately pictures/video doesn't capture the scale of it.

You fucked up. Get new rings; drain and flush the oil and clean the valves. full top end rebuild even.

Then load that sucker up for the next 500km/300 miles to reseat the new rings PROPERLY.
Don't let the soft break in shit apply on an enfield; they already tear themselves appart.

Rev that fucker, downshift early and put some load on the engine after the rebuild.

And get bar end weights.

Doing this will seriously help reduce the vibrations and it'll feel much nicer at highway speeds.
And stuff will vibrate of less.

The build quality will still bite you in the dick though; i replaced every nut, bolt, screw and rubber i could with aftermarket and stainless steel stuff on mine.
