My civic which was fucked yesterday is at the dealership.

They gave me a loaner white 2017 civic LX. It's eeeeh ok I guess. No sunroof or gadgets. 2.0L engine sounds so different when you're used to the turbo engine.

No idea it's fully covered by my insurance and the extra bumper to bumper coverage with Honda. The jetta that hit me the guy was checking his phone or texting while taking off at the intersection. His jetta is fucked. He's going to end up paying my damage and his car because he was on the phone and accelerated at me in the middle of my turn

I'm not going to call you a retard, since it is advisable to drive slower under hazardous conditions, but I admit that I'm a crazy motherfucker to still go 70 mph when it's pouring.

I guess my confidence is getting to my ego, thinking I'll know how to recover from hydroplaning or spinning out even though I've never experienced either.

Is it worth it to do the work to change the synchro for one gear? My 4th gear synchro is bad and grinds when you go straight from 3rd to 4th. Have to go into neutral, let the rpms drop down to 0, change gears, then rev match so it doesn't grind.
>>
>>17335078
just hold it gently against 4th and itll pop in at the right rpm. dont hold it so hard it grinds though

also depends on tranny.

if k or b series may as well change it

The one you're interested in (EM1) is one of the most popular coupes Honda has ever made so it's an excellent choice and easy to learn on.

I want a Honda but how the hell do I know which one to get?

I'm looking for a reliable coupé that gives decent mileage and possibility of modification. I've looked at Accords, Civics, Preludes, Legends and Integras for weeks now and they all look like good options to my untrained eye. Redpill (read: spoonfeed) me on what to get, because I honestly don't know.

>>
>>17341537
Well what do you want out of a car? If looking at stock examples...

>Civic for lightweight and best MPG
>Accord for a little less MPG but more room
>Integra for sportier Civic with DOHC engine
>Prelude for big comfy GT car with good handling
>Legend for luxury Prelude with a V6
>>
>>17341580
Everyone's is that's why it's hard to tell which one would be best. Whatever car they got is gonna be the best to them.

>>17341590
Alright now we're getting somewhere. Which one would be the most mechanically reliable? I think that's the main thing I'm looking for.
>>
>>17341703
Legend would probably be the least reliable and working on a fwd v6 isn't very easy for a beginner. Any 90s Honda 4 cylinder with a manual are all about even in terms of reliability.
>>
I'm a colossal faggot and I'm thinking of importing a RHD civic or integra with a b16 AUTOMATIC. I'm already lousy at driving stick with my right hand so I don't think I'd do any better with my left.

Anyway what tuning problems would I run into? I would want to turbo it eventually and I don't mean problems like charge or exhaust pipes not fitting exactly because its RHD, I mean tuning as in ECU shit. Could I tune an automatic JDM edu using neptune or some shit?

Hey guys, what's the general consensus on respraying? Basically, I know a guy who runs a body shop and could get me a decent respray for a few hundred bucks. I haven't decided on a color or if I even want to do it. I was thinking maybe gray, or white.
One thing to note is the picture doesn't show how awful my current paint is. Plus, I'd be able to get my bumper to match the car!
Anyway, thoughts?

I've embarrassingly underestimated the latest Honda Civic because I don't pay attention to them as much as I do the Accord.

I pulled up next to one at a stop light and we both went full throttle once it turned green.

He pulled away from me, like a V6 Accord would; I doubt it was an Si.

It is a shame that the V6 era is ending, but the plus side is this would bring in new potential for both cars since they will now have turbos.

Check and see if the pads are wearing evenly. Also the slide pins may be seized up.

pads are sanded evenly on flat surface, when freshly serviced, they make no noise

Pretty weird shit. Maybe the hardware is bent out of shape? I'd throw on some new pads if that isn't it. I've thought about Hawk but I've been having good luck with Duralast Gold. Easy to get without having to deal with shipping and all that.

EP-3's a bit of an odd one. I think it looks more like a van than a hatchback.
>>
>>17353103
Yeah they did have 5 door models in other countries that look really weird. It's roughly eight inches longer than my EG. Though with the much much shorter hood there's probably a bit more interior room in comparison.
>>
>>17353124
>yfw hoods become shorter until they reach 2.5ft length
>>
>>17353124
The EG is only 160 inches? Thats pretty small, wouldn't mind having one myself, if there were any left.
>>
>>17353132
Honestly I'm surprised long hoods came back with the 10th gen. I like longer hoods much better.

>>17353136
Yeah and they're still pretty spacious inside, at least with my low to the ground Del Sol seats. Can even fit people in the back seat somewhat comfortably with similar leg room as the sedan almost.

>tfw parking next to my co-workers Chebby Spark

That fucking thing is a whole 17 inches shorter while still having four doors. He said nobody can even fit in the back seats at all. He only uses it for storage.
>>
>>17353156
Del Sol seats? Did they just bolt right up?
>>
>>17353169
Fucc
>>
>>17353169
Kiiiinda. Previous owner put them in. I think you're supposed to put EG hatch/coupe seat rails on them but I think they still have Del Sol rails. They only bolted in with 3/4 bolts. Passenger seat is wobbly. The difference between my stock EG seats in my sedan vs these is night and day. Way more head room, sitting close to the ground, and much more bolstering.
>>
>>17353182
Nice.
I kinda wanna try something similar with my EM-2, using an Integra seat, but I only need one. The driver belt's broken, so that's my excuse.
>>
>>17353200
Definitely worth it. Civic seats are usually super basic so any other Honda model has better options.

Finally did it. Expected to do a lot more work than I actually did.

>head unit frame was extremely close to fitting, just needed to sand the left and right sides down
>another issue was the bottom pocket, two plastic clips were poking up into the area where the head unit would sit
>removed the clips and the pocket falls out
>peeled off the ancient pre-3M double sided tape
>glued the pocket in place like it should have been from the start

Now I just need to order the single DIN cup holder to go in the old head unit location.

So, how would you go about it if you found your perfect Honda, but it was six states away and you had no car? Because that's the position in which I find myself. I found a completely stock 2000 electron blue Civic Si for $3500 with nary a speck of rust and less than 100000 mi on it, but it's an unfortunate distance away. At this point I'm willing to walk that far.

>>
>>17358535
Yep. Though at the same time there are a lot of well built ones.
>>
>>17358571
There are, but most are just . . . garish for lack of a better term. Bells and whistles out the nose for no other reason than to have a "tricked-out" ride. I hate how many people think because they have gold rims or an inefficient/incorrectly-applied turbo that gives them street cred or somehow instantly makes them into a street racer. Unfortunately, those are exactly the kind of people who are buying up good, older civics instead of people who will treat them right, and only mod them if they know what they're doing, and for a purpose
>>
>>17358603
Yeah I hate seeing those on the road. Fortunately a lot of the people I've met are doing a lot of stuff right to their cars.

Mine is a bit ricey but I try not to go overboard with it. At the end of the day it's still a slow mile eater.
>>
>>17358619
I guess it's just different communities, then. Around where I am it's *all* people like that, and it really sickens me. Once I get my car, I'm going to try to keep everything as close to stock as I can and get as good as I can driving it that way without adding on bells and whistles. I want to get to the point that I can regularly tear down, clean, lubricate, and rebuild the engine piece by piece so I can get to know the car like I do everything else I own.
>>
>>17357745
