AIS bolts were in a very tight space and at an extremely awkward angle. And they were loctited. Was a battle getting each one out and then getting them back in to get the block off plates on.

Also had to do some retarded erector set things with three 4" extensions to get down into the spark plugs in the tight ass space provided.

Also replaced my busted rear tail plastics from when my drunk room mates dropped my bike.

So I'm thinking of getting a proper motorcycle to replace my car for certain out of town trips.

Get a 500+ cc bike. sub 500cc bikes are a meme. The only decent ones are supermotos and dual sports. If that's you're thing by all means get a smll displacement one.

But if you want an exclusive on-road bike, one of the tamer 600cc sportbikes or a 650cc twin is contrallable and easy to ride, but has enough performance to keep you interested for a good long time. Making great starter bikes.

Don't wear any patches on your back
Don't pull up next to other riders at stoplights or pass them in traffic in the same lane
Don't talk to them but be polite if they talk to you

Do not touch their jackets/vests
Do not touch their bikes
Do NOT touch their wives

Buy a hurrrrrley for added protection

>only ride as fast as you're willing to fall
This is horrible advice. No one is "willing to fall at all. Especially at more than 10-15mph.

You're recommending people ride around at walking pace?
>>
>>17321626
>Don't pull up next to other riders at stoplights or pass them in traffic in the same lane
I do this all the time with the Mongols and Vagos in my area. They don't care.

I'll give them a nod and some of them will nod back, others will just look over then blow me of and stare ahead.

I ride a sportbike.

It's normal just to give them space, especially if you're on a cruiser. They have a lot of enemies so they can be jumpy, even if a lot of them are normal dudes it's not worth the risk of coming across one of them coked out and stressed.

Daily reminder that REAL MOTORCYCLINGâ„¢ is exclusively low speed control.

Anyone that goes faster than 75mph on a motorcycle is not a real motorcyclist and should not own or ride a motorcycle. No one should ride any motorcycles with more than 50hp and everyone should wear a textile oversuit, knee pads, neck condom, leg condoms, elbow pads, elbow condoms, helmet and head condom, full elbow length gloves with integrated glove condom, boots, boot condoms, chest protector, chest condom, etc. or you're not a REAL MOTORCYCLISTâ„¢ and in a crash your shitty leather and CE padding will explode compared to my impenetrable textile armor that I wear to political rallies and beat people up in. Anyone who drags knee or leans more than 20 degrees in a turn is just asking for death and will crash and die guaranteed. REAL MOTORCYCLINGâ„¢ is all about following road rules to a T and flipping out and going into a rage at every single mistake anyone else makes on the road, just so they know how inferior they are to you. To prove you are a REAL MOTORCYCLISTâ„¢ you should record these episodes on one of your 7 GoPros mounted all over your motorcycle and body and post them in over-annotated Youtube videos just so everyone can see how good you are at REAL MOTORCYCLINGâ„¢. Be sure to ride around in densely populated areas with lots of traffic to ensure you are capturing the best footage of people not driving as well as you are riding your motorcycle and the inferior actions they take.

Consider yourselves educated in the proper ways of riding, I hope everyone takes this to heart. Take care and vlog safe.

I'm getting more and more interested in bikes. However, not in the fast or loud ones but rather the old Kawasakis. Everyone in my family says I should forget it as it's too dangerous. But are "slower" bikes still that dangerous?

Also do you know what kind of Kawasaki models they are driving in that video?

>>17321788
Dangerous things about motorcycles:
- if you get into a crash the consequences will never be the same
- you are more likely to be in a crash because other people are retards and don't see you
- if you are a retard yourself you are more likely to get hurt (tired, drunk, not ATGATT, poorly maintained bike, doing stupid shit, not getting proper lessons, letting your family decide what you do for fun etc.)
- if you live in a retarded country you are basically already dead (USA, South America, Africa, Asia, Russia)

Motorcycling is more dangerous than driving a car

motorcycling is much better than driving a car

Your family is right. Take their concerns seriously, learn to ride and learn to ride well. Read every book you can find, watch every video and documentary you can find. Take the classes you can afford to take and practice the good advice you hear.

/dbt/ recommends for beginners
MSF course
Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough
More Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough
Twist of the Wrist by Kieth Code
Twist of the Wrist II by Kieth Code

You may end up disabled or killed but if you are smart and ride well you may ride until you're too old for it. Many people do.

It's a risk, take the MSF course if you're a burger and decide if riding is worth the risk.
>>
>>17321788
All bikes are dangerous, it doesn't matter if you're riding a scooter or a literbike, both of them are many times more dangerous than a 4 wheeled automobile. What amounts to a minor fender bender in a car can leave you crippled or dead if you're in the same accident while on a bike.

You can do your best to ride safe and wear proper gear to mitigate some of the risk but no matter what you do, riding a motorcycle is still going to be inherently riskier than driving a car.

It's very comfy, and the curve on the seat holds you in place just right, I want one, but can't afford it at this time.

Well guys, I didn't die on my new tires.

Wish we had more twisties locally, or at least more technical ones with less high speed sweepers.

It's too unsafe to go so fast around the corners near me at enough speed to remove my chicken tendies... you could end up with a rear bumper in your face with not enough time to stop :(

Sup /dbt/, I'm your usual bike newbie and just want a quick check,

YBR125 good as your first bike? Is the CBR125 better?

Also I have this particular question, I really like the old look of the YBR125, bc the black version looks kinda like a chopper or something, like nostalgia etc, but the new light is angular and kinda gay. Do you think I could swap the new light with a round light?

Pic related, old YBR125

Btw I have to get a bike under 125cc sonothing more than that bls

Once you actually ride a motorcycle nobike, you'll realize the weight of a motorcycle has a large impact on it's side to side transitions, low speed cornering, mid corner confidence, etc.

The Hayabusa is 100-150lbs overweight for it's sporting ambitions and you fell it in every corner.

Also, I guarantee my ham hocks are larger/stronger than yours. I bet you dont even lift.

Qualify this statement. Garbage at what?

They are not race cars retard. They get decent gas mileage, have enough power to haul a load at freeway speeds, and last 300,000 miles plus with bare minimum maintenance.

There's a reason they were and still are used as main fleet vehicles for companies that need light duty trucks to reliably get the job done.

Ironic considering the AMC I6 is one of the few motors taht could be considered more bulletproof than the Lima I4.

I'm really curious what you mean by "several problems". I had one that went to 320,000 miles with the only thing outside brakes, oil changes, and spark plugs being

Except that's wrong. There is not much left of a Hayabusa's orginal engine on those 700-1000hp bikes.

He couldn't pull himself out of a flat driveway with 1" of packed snow on it with studded snow tires on the rear because lol open diff 2wd.
Everything in the truck was broken from the window cranks to the shift lever itself
He only got about 3-4mpg more than my 4.0.
You have to downshift to tow a motorcycle up a slight incline.
The engine was running on one cylinder and blew a head gasket when he tried to tow said motorcycle across the country, at 190k miles.

They're used as fleet vehicles because they're semi-disposable, and are disposed of at 150k miles.

A 2wd truck with an open diff in the read with lol no weight over those tires is even more retarded. A Civic is better in the snow.

He got the truck at 160k for $900 and put like 30k on it before it blew the motor and he swapped a shitty Mustang engine into it.
He got it that cheap because they're literally (((literally))) disposable shit trucks.

The 4.0 isn't that much better even, I had two an the first one was auto and kinda shit, but having some torque and 4wd made the issues matter less. The second one was stick and perfect for the 1.5 years I owned it. Still practically disposable for $2500 for a 140k mile 12 year old pickup.

Get at least a 500cc bike, and be a Boy Scout. You'll get heat though if it's not at least 750. That's what the HAMC judges it's own by. If you want something "sporty", then don't go further than a naked bike. Call me a fag, but I would get a Sportster.

Video starts off with a Honda CB750 of some sorts (early model, red one in the back @0:04)
at same timestamp kawasaki's to the left and right are probably either Z1/900 or Z2/750
The one he's driving is definately the Z1/900
@2:13 judging from the tail and kickstartershape id say its looking like a kawasaki h2
@3:04 he rides off with a Z1000MKII/ST
can't really tell cause video is lowres as fuck

the Kawa in your pic is definately a kh400.

when driving a bike always stick with a cool head, don't stress or clench the brakes like an idiot panicking

the big difference between riding an older kawasaki and a newer one is that the older one brakes worse and wobbels in corners. Old Kawasakis had tubeframes which gave way in cornering. New bikes in general dont have this problem cause of stiffer frames

braking with newer models is more direct and they have ABS - this is probably why driving an older kawasaki takes a different mindset. These bikes are fast but brake are like sponges. You need to look far ahead - even moreso than when driving a new bike - to anticipate the 'dangers' comin at you

Went to the shop and tried on a large variety of the really high end helmets; schuberth, arai, shoei, shark, hjc, agv, you name it if it had a big price tag I tried it on.

And guess what? Every single one of them had absolutely horrendous pressure points just above my temples, made it absolutely unbearable to wear. So I have to keep wearing my budget Held helmet that is basically the only helmet brand I am aware of that fits my head.

No idea what is wrong with the shape of my head. And no its not a case of manning up, the pressure points were so bad it was causing nausea.

I would say small capacity slower bikes are most dangerous, because you can't get out of a bad situation if you see one coming up. Whereas on a fast bike you have options.

But yeah bikes are dangerous, we are 36 times more likely to die than in a car.

Listen to me, I am 35, I've survived nearly 20 years on the road on two wheels.
Here's one thing you need to know about biking = you are the cunt. Don't ever let people wonder about anything you do.
If you cut through traffic use a low, loud gear and when you get to the (red) lights choose a lane and block the car in front, be the cunt.
If you need to change lanes, look for the gap, indicate and move, don't ask, be the cunt.
If you're cruising at speed someone seems to match it in an adjacent lane, accelerate hard and get away from them, be the cunt.
At the same time, don't be insecure:
If there's someone tailgating you while you're on the bike, change lanes, brake hard and keep away from them, don't be insecure.
If there's some dude revving his engine near you showing off or challenging you slow down, move away, pull over. Don't be insecure.
If you're riding in a group and they all go fast, enjoy "time in the saddle" and let them speed off, don't be insecure.
Be a cunt, don't be insecure, and be all present all the time.
This isn't a pastime for the dense.

Hey guys, I came back to see a shit show regarding the busa and it's weight as a bike.

Being around 600 lbs, it only feels big when you're not moving and honestly, it's not even that big then. I've ridden a tl1000r and it almost feels the same as that. The power is.....wew lad.. That's a fucking rocket ship. It's pretty hot, as are all inline 4 bikes. In terms of flicking it around, it's not a 600, it's a lot more noticable weight but it's not a huge cruiser, it'll go over if you want it to.

TLDR it's not as heavy as you think and I love it and love all you wonderful anons

It's easy, Anon. Suzuki bikes are well balanced. I strongly encourage you to go for it

Hell angels and other MCs will not give you shit if you are on anything but a cruiser. It's like rolling through in a car.

If you are on a jap cruiser they will give you shit, doubly so if it's a harley clone (pic related)
if it's an american cruiser they will talk to you, and that opens you up to giving them a reason to give you shit.

if you're just a dude on a bike, they don't care. my stepdad and grandfather were both 1%er MC types and there is no better way to remain neutral to them than to ride a bike they're not into. the most any of them ever had to say was "don't kill yourself, those are fucking deadly. i knew a guy who had a kid who....." blabla he ded. Hear it from every guy with a patch, grandpa or felon. They dont' dislike you, they just think you're going to die because everyone they knew went 80mph down main street and T boned a semi.

classic bikes are also dangerous

inferior chassis design and suspension parts make them more likely to things like random headshake, and some springs and shit are probably past due but nobody ever touched them because "it doesn't leak oil it's finer"

>you can't get out of a bad situation if you see one coming up
I'm sick of reading this shit, what are these hypothetical "bad situations" you are all so desperate to be getting you out of?

My pops had a T1000s and I have a V-strom. Good motor.

When someone is about to merge into you, it's usually better to speed up and shoot for the gap between lanes or the shoulder just in case than to brake hard when stacy is behind you texting

If your 250 will likely redline within seconds of the necessary downshift (if it's not already redlining right after the shift because you are, say, moving faster than 60mph), well, have fucking fun then. 125s aren't allowed on highways for a reason and 250s are seriously pushing it. Economy cars are are faster at those speeds while small bikes are just winded.

I guess but this situation can be avoided pre-emptively 90% of the time and it takes no acceleration to move in-between lanes or onto the shoulder.

I agree that 125's are too slow for the motorway but for the reason that they struggle to maintain the required speed not for their inability to "get out of bad situations"

i'm asking cause i could get the bike for 1k with rego but if it'll need a completely new engine it's obviously not worth it hey
>>
>>17324702
It's also because of that. Acceleration is a major part of all evasive maneuvers.

You are not perfect. You will be screwed sometime. So, ideally, you have enough power to unscrew yourself, but not enough power to accidentally screw yourself even harder.

And being able to actually accelerate without downshifting really helps with that

what do you even mean by the piston grabs the bore? If it's seizing that's no good.

Kern County, California. There's a ton of them out here for some reason.

I'm learning on one right now.
The choice over CBR depends on what you want your bike to look like. the one advantage on CBR I can think of is, if you fall over you will probably get some scratches on side plastic, if you do it on YBR you will probably break gauge plastic (thin af) and rear indicator (stupid mount), 20$ for new rear plastic and 50$ for new full cluster in my place.

If you check the mounts and wires, replacing the light could be possible.

My short geared 300 can do 70-80mph in 4th and any bike will redline within seconds in any lower gear, are you retarded?

Always get a laugh out of this "you can't slow down or you will die" shit, do you just accelerate through debris, animals, and backed up traffic? If you can't safely slow down someone merging isn't even your first problem, why the fuck would you ever let yourself be tailgated by a texter
