HOW TO RIDE MOTORCYCLES

1. At the rise of the hand by Policeman, stop rapidly. Do not pass him by or otherwise disrespect him.

2. When a passenger of the foot, hooves in sight, tootle the horn trumpet melodiously at first. If he still obstacles your passage, tootle him with vigor and express by word of mouth, warning Hi, Hi.

3. Beware of the wandering horse that he shall not take fright as you pass him. Do not explode the exhaust box at him. Go smoothingly by.

4. Give big space to the festive dog that makes sport in roadway. Avoid entanglement of dog with wheel spokes.

5. Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon. Press the brake foot as you roll around the corner, and save the collapse and tie up.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I've never seen a TRX here to nick a carb from.
I've only done gordons mods thus far, stock most everything. If it ain't broke don't fix it, etc. That's why these things are tractors, albeit marginally faster but just as nimble.

I'd just need to make it worth the shipping costs without blowing the weight/volume allowances out the door.

Left foot on ground, bike in 1st gear with clutch in. Right foot on the rear brake. Any stop-start should be this.

If you get false neutrals a lot, try adjusting the gear lever or be more confident in your shifting strength. Usually if you've not completely unloaded the tranny load you'll get neutral despite having a constant mesh gearbox. Don't force it into gear, but don't be a pussy, either.

The only bikes i know of like that are cruisers and even then most cruisers have smaller chicken strips than most sports bikes.

Really its just a case of who breaks the speed limit...

It is insanely easy to use 100% of your tyre over 150kmhm, even a slight bend has you leaning all the way until you are scraping pegs.

It is also really easy to see when someone does this because their tyre literally melts at those speeds.

pic related is a tyre that was used at low speeds (mainly below 150kmh) which is why it did not melt, i am sure you have seen plenty of tyres with bits hanging off the sides for comparison.

The only way I can see right foot down being the smarter move is on a flat so you can sit in neutral, not just clutch pulled in. Personal preference I guess, but unless you're on an off-camber road I'd suggest right foot on brake for hillstarts.

Take a bit of practice rolling on the throttle while simultaneously releasing the front brake if you're on a hill using your right foot to stay shiny side up.

Check schematic in your service manual and find out where the power ceases by testing. I use voltmeters and cheap incandescent test lights (incandescent bulbs are loads). Trace power to fuse box then from it to each system.

Also use brand and preferably model-specific forums and always post details because not all motorcycles are the same.

>>
>>17284885
>>17284918
it's pretty damn close to as far as you would wanna lean it i'd say. if you want you could just try manually leaning the bike over and looking at what touches first. without the feelers my bike touches the exhaust before the pegs so i put a knee down at big leans so i know how much room i have more than any other reason, and it feels pretty fun
get your body/ knee over a bit more just to act as a gauge for how much ground clearance you have left, but you need to be consistent
just be careful when it inevitably does scrape something

Maybe your lights are fine and your eyes are shit.
The stock lights on any road legal vehicle are perfectly fine. If your beam is wider, sure, you can see further across fields. How does that help you, exactly? You'll make animals panic, possibly making those that wouldn't have moved in the first place run across the road (where they freeze because whoops, they're suddenly in the open being blinded), plus you can't accurately predict animal behaviour over a long distance. As in, if you see a deer 100 yards from the road and it starts to dash towards the road, you can't assume it won't stop before actually getting in your way.
In any case, I think it's pretty retarded.

with a wider beam you can see the animals from much further away, which gives you a lot more time to react to them and slow down. If you can spot a dear from 100 yards away, going at 100km/h, that gives you like 3.5 seconds to react to it. that is more than enough to slow down to a safe speed and to scare it off. and besides, with a good driving like it'd be more like 300 yards, not 100.
>>
>>17285333

>>
>>17285340

either way I'm gonna be putting driving lights on my bike.

>>17285333
More light != safer.
>with a wider beam you can see the animals from much further away, which gives you a lot more time to react to them and slow down
1) Your attention should be on the road and objects near it, not somewhere 200 m to the side. You can't process that much information adequately. You risk glancing over close dangers by concentrating on faraway objects, increasing your chances of crashing.
2) If you do spot animals 10 seconds in advance you can't be sure what they'll do. They may or may not notice you, they may or may not run towards the road, they may or may not jump onto the road. If you notice them 300 m from the road, do you slow down to a crawl? Fuck no. If you focus your attention on the faraway group of animals in case they jump out in front of you, you divert attention from other, previously unseen threats (see point 1). Plus you might spot them from far away, classify them as a non-threat because they're just grazing (they haven't noticed you yet), then be surprised when they suddenly DO jump onto the road because they were startled.
3) With really bright lights oncoming vehicles will have a hard time estimating your speed, distance and location. People might pull out on you thinking you're way farther away. They might drift into your lane distracted by the bright light and smash into you, smash into each other, or run off the road. With a wider beam, the chance of blinding vehicles that aren't straight ahead but off to the side increase.
>>
>>17285354
>how the fuck will it blind other people if I turn them off when near others?
Because you won't see those others until they are already blinded because you're blind as a fucking eyeless bat.

louder exhaust != safer, but that's parroted by everyone
>1)
what is peripheral vision. the thing about driving is that you don't look at the same spot constantly or focus on anything. you scan the road, always being aware of your surroundings and what's coming up on the road. with driving lights you can see what's coming up a lot further away and be a lot more aware of your surroundings.

>2)
if you notice them 10 seconds in advance, they'll notice you sooner as well. and in that time, they'll either cross the road, or run away from it. every time. and, no, you don't slow down to a crawl. say you're doing 100, you'd slow down to 80 or something. again, you don't focus on something, you see it, acknowledge it, and determine whether it's a threat or not. fuck have you never been riding in the countryside before or something? jesus christ.

>3)
oncoming vehicles will see my lowbeam. because you turn off highbeam and driving lights when there is an oncoming vehicle. like how do you not get this. you don't leave your driving lights or highbeam on when there's someone coming the other way. do they not teach you that in whatever shithole country you're from?

With how blind you are, you won't turn them off untill after you've blinded people. You also don't know people are coming, because your lights are brighter than anything else on the road.

The fact that you ARE visible does not mean that your position, speed, size and distance can be more accurately estimated. A close, very bright bike might be mistaken for a faraway truck. In fact, you might be mistaken for some other stationary object. In any case, you are endangering yourself.
Furthermore, you are a distraction at best, or blinding people at worst, meaning they won't see other, less bright threats and get into accidents as a consequence.

>>17285437
Ear protection? Good idea. Music? Not so much.
If you only ride on the touge and backroads, or maybe on the highway: fair enough, you won't really have sirens approaching you. When riding through cities though it does happen that you're sitting in traffic and an ambulance or cop is coming up from behind with the sirens on to filter through. I blocked a fire truck once because I couldn't hear it (earpro and singing to myself at the stoplights), and since I was keeping my eyes on the lights I only saw it after like 10 seconds when I checked my mirrors again.
>>
>>17285427
I meant to say I'm increasing my night time vision, not my visibility. though it would increase my visibility before crests and corners, as they would be able to see my lights before they could see my bike.
once cars can directly see my headlights, the driving lights and highbeam will be off, and only my lowbeam will be on. I won't be blinding anyone because they won't be on when anyone's coming the other way.
>>
>>17285447
Because of the hearing protection, my music is on a low volume.
Also, i mostly ride on back roads and highways. In the city emergency vehicles use dedicated bus lanes.

Again, vision means jack shit if your mental capacity is limited (this is not an insult; no man can process unlimited amounts of information) and the threat status of objects can change dramatically in a short time regardless of whether or not you see it.
>though it would increase my visibility before crests and corners, as they would be able to see my lights before they could see my bike.
Even with focused beams they'll see you early enough. They don't notice you when your lights are shining directly into their eyes, they see light diffused by the air and reflected / scattered from surrounding surfaces.>>17285457

Like I said, DEDICATED bus lanes, ONLY busses and emergency vehicles. Two way roads, just for them, through the entire city.
>>
>>17285483
This isn't a matter of opinion. Blinding people at night is dangerous and increasing your field of view at night by any significant amount is pointless. These are objective facts, not opinions.

>>17285484

Well hurr. People don't always follow the law. Mercs and Beemers in particular love hogging those lanes. And even if they don't, if there's a queue of 3 busses stuck at a set of traffic lights, emergency vehicles can't get through.
I'm having a hard time believing your claims. On main roads, sure. I doubt every small street as a dedicated bus / emergency lane.

Do they Look like the bike runs too rich or is that normal for their age?

How's battery and sound quality?
>>
>>17285459
Lad, that's a ski helmet.

>>17285471
Regarding the 20s. Sound quality is okay but not great, a bit tinny, however the speakers can be upgraded to ones from a pair of koss headphones if you can do a tiny bit of diy. As for battery life, I'm generally getting 6-8 hours of music on and intercom connected battery life, and they charge really quick. For my touring I'll just have a power bank in my backpack with one of the cables running to the sena so I have a full battery for a couple of days.
>>
>>17285490
>blinding people at night is dangerous
yeah that's why I won't be blinding people. you turn them off when others are coming the other way, just like highbeam.
>increasing your field of view at night by any significant amount is pointless
that is entirely untrue. you've clearly never been in a car with driving lights.

They first need a place to get on those lanes. They are not on the normal roads, but separate roads, fenced off.

>And even if they don't, if there's a queue of 3 busses stuck at a set of traffic lights, emergency vehicles can't get through.
Busses have priority over other trafic, also buslanes are normally clear with at most 3 busses riding behind each other

>I'm having a hard time believing your claims. On main roads, sure. I doubt every small street as a dedicated bus / emergency lane.
Like I said, not on normal roads, they are separated, following other routes.

Emergency vehicles and buses in my city don't ride with normal traffic, never have to worry about them.

I did and still think it would be a neat bike to own, but already having my beaten up F3, it' would be too much of the same. FZ1 is pretty much endgame as far as power and most components go.

I think I'll move away from the street legal track tyres, put some PP3s on her for a while and take her on the street a bit more, it's a fun bike to ride.

I've been riding for like 6 years with nothing but the sound of engine noise and wind but now a few of my friends have finally gotten motorcycles and I actually have people to ride with occasionally so I'm thinking about getting a Sena 10s or something so we can talk while we're riding. Well, they're the ones who really want to talk while riding, I actually like the feeling of solitude I get while riding with no music or conversation. I wouldn't mind being able to say stuff like, "hey let's take this next road up there" or "let's make a pit stop at the next gas station" but I'm not sure if I'd enjoy constant chatter when I'm trying to concentrate on what speed I should be taking the next corner at.

Luckily I don't live in Burgerstan and a vocal warning is enough.
Riding on the back is putting your live in the hands of the person riding, better listen to them when they warn you about the risks and how to behave (and yes, I tell them that before getting on).
I'm not even using full throttle, as that will just make me wheelie, which is illegal and makes me responsible. Also only at the start on a quiet road, don't want someone else running them over.

In the US you'd likely get a misdemeanor criminal charge, possibly have your license suspended for a bit, and would face the very real possibility of her getting a lawyer and suing you for damages and/or "pain and suffering". If it's proven that you did it intentionally then I don't think your motorcycle insurance has to cover the incident either.

well it is perfect around town at 30-40mph speeds, it was basically designed for this, but take it on A roads/motorways and thats a different story.

Its max speed is 60-65mph, so it will just about manage it but its a butt clenching experience, not very fun, and merging off of slip roads is generally quite a dangerous thing to do. And its mpg will go down quite a bit doing speeds like that as its nearly at the red line. Still better than just about any other petrol powered vehicle on earth though.
>>
>>17285745
oh and also, it is extremely comfortable, I am 6'1, it is perfect for me, I've sat on it for hours and hours and it has felt more comfy than a car.

I like to make punishment a random thing, just out of the blue. Dog pisses on the carpet or something and you just act casual about it, no big deal. Later, he's asleep or something and you just kick shit out of him.

He'll fear the unexpected and always be aware that it might be coming. I've had to put a few dogs down because they went psycho, but I think that's more down to the dogs, not the technique.

>>17285740

They can, it's just difficult. I had two grafts, one didn't work and got done three times. Obviously with full thickness burns you lose sensation and that means trouble for hands, but they can do grafts on the palms.
>>
>>17286120
>Obviously with full thickness burns you lose sensation and that means trouble for hands
right, this I can believe for sure. but amputation? extremely skeptical.
>>
>>17286139

No-one ever mentioned amputation as a possibility for me, but maybe for more serious cases. If they can't make a graft take then you've got a permanent infection risk.
>>
>>17286120
>>17286139
>>17286165
The difference for amputation or grafting is whether it's a circumferential burn. If the burn goes over your entire hand and around your entire wrist and it's full thickness all the veins in your hand are done for and there's no possibility of salvation. If only one side is burnt then there's a way to save it. Circumfrencial burns are close to impossible to graft.
